Honestly, with how detailed and good some games are, I really don't mind that system. Don't crucify me, but to get an earlier release on something like GTA6, I would pay $60 and wait for update patches. Games haven't increased in price that much for the amount that we can get out of them. I remember as a kid going to buy Mario RPG on SNES at Toys R Us and turning right back around without it because it was like $40. Possibly $50. 10/20 bucks more for the kind of things coming out as of late, is fair in my opinion.

I mean when they pay someone, that person is obliged to make a report on the report he sees as opposed to you that buy an early access game where you don't need to do this. Also when they hire testers it's because they want to test the game without the public knowing the existence of the game.

Here's the thing- The fact that companies like Naughty Dog and Nintendo still exist blows all these excuses right out of the water. They clearly demonstrate that it *is* possible to finish games and have them working near perfectly and with all their content (minus large expansions of course) before release. These companies show that not only is this possible to _accomplish_, but it's possible to accomplish while still making BOATLOADS of money. There's one reason and one reason ONLY that games are released unfinished, broken and buggy- *because we allow it* ; because we'll buy them. And the developers (and platform holders) know it. If tomorrow, Sony said to all developers, _"we're implementing a system like Nintendo's gold seal. If your game is unfinished or full of bugs, _*_it will not be released on our platform. Period_*_ "_ , guess what... you'd still have games like No Man's Sky, Witcher 3, and Assassins Creed. They'd take a little bit longer, and they'd be finished and perfectly playable upon release. The current environment only exists because we allow it to, and human nature is that anything people _can_ get away with, they will.

Basically the premise of let your money talk. This is the reason why I prefer Nintendo, they understand how important is quality and the first impression. Please understand that I am not a Nintendo fanboy, I just prefer them as a brand for their tendency on releasing full games and having a greater quality. If we complain about lootboxes and microtransactions but we gladly buy said company's game we are telling them "Oh, I am a masochist customer that will always come back for more." Now, if you pass and don't buy the game then the company will somehow see it. Just a customer won't do anything. But imagine a whole lot of people did this practice. As you said, we would still have games like The Witcher 3, No man's Sky, Assassin's Creed, Falloit New Vegas, etc. BUT they would be complete. Sure you may add DLC's to add content you didn't think of before. Sans' skin on the new super smash or certain expansions that adds more into the lore of the game. But that would be things a developer wasn't thinking before. You are right, we as consumers allow it by giving them money when we KNOW the game is incomplete.

Corporatism requires greed, but people that want to take from them because they have a lot exhibit the antithesis of morality. Socialists are consumed with Greed AND Envy. They struck "The Patriarchy" = Merit based hierarchies in Western nations, not Islamic with Ghostbusters, 3 Star Wars movies, much TV News indoctrination, and oppression narrative lies. Like the reasons for the Wage Gap, 3/5 Women in America being Raped in their lives, 21 Million Women being abused online. All Lies. They're trying to subvert the Culture to benefit them, not obtain equality. To control the way everyone thinks. By banning words, replacing them with New-Speak- like how they say Diversity instead of the truth of Black and Brown people. Side note: How is the term African-American not a bit racist and very divisive? Humans used to live in a Communist/Socialist like state before we understood economic systems like we do today. Progressives say that such economic policies are the future when in fact Capitalism came after Socialism. People need linear motivations to work their hardest. Paying everyone the same gives people no incentive to work as hard as they can, which will be more or less productive than other people naturally. It's social engineering and inhumane to penalize people based on arbitrary feelings of fairness instead of giving them what they have legally earned through free market contracts and voluntary transactions. Principles over feels, bruh. Let's get scientific. Women produce and release testosterone from their adrenal glands to their brains when needing to focus on high cognitive tasks such as fast paced/competitive gaming. After days of being in situations of high stress Women may break down because they can't keep producing testosterone to focus. They start producing adrenaline and will eventually fall apart mentally if they do not leave that stressful environment. Men naturally have an advantage over Women in prolonged settings of stressful situations because off this. Among other things. Like Men having generally 10% larger brains than Women, across all races. Obama had the same exact policies when in office. The Media did nothing. Trump ended the family separation with an executive order temporarily like he's supposed to. The President is not supposed to make laws with executive orders. He did exactly what he's supposed to legally. Those laws were passed by Democrats, not Republicans. We had those laws because we can't instantly confirm whether these children are being trafficked by the adult they are with. Do you really think it's better for children to be imprisoned with possibly dangerous adult criminals? Or with just other kids for a short time? We didn't force them into this situation. It's these peoples responsibility to make their country great, not rely on White people while saying Mexico and Latinos are the best. There were many "La Raza" or "The Race" believing people that were in the Migrant Caravan that headed for the US border months ago causing these problems. American Men have to sign up for the Draft to Vote. That's not Equality. We've never Legally had Gender Equality in America. But because it disadvantages Men and benefits Whamen, they keep quiet about it, and even lie about it, about their vision of Equality. Wage Gap lies. Because Feminism isn't about Equality. Now, instead of projecting and continuing the cycle of hate that's enveloped Western Cultures, form an argument. Read my Copy/Paste in a reply to a comment on my funny video. ;)

Just some of the dialogue throughout the game including characters background stories along with level up system we promised and half a dozen different weapon variants and also about 6 or 7 different vehicles both land and sky and don’t forget about the save status, gamers will only be able to save in about half the areas as we planned them to be able to and forget about the checkpoint autosaves that’s not going to happen and we’ll have to wait on the targeting systems for the heavy weapons and the characters facial expressions haven’t been adjusted properly yet, and sometimes when players are crouched on certain walls they get stuck. but don’t worry the gamers won’t care.” Sounds good! Great video, you touched on some really solid points and I think you explained it very well. I recently started up a small game studio that I am running with a much different business model than most companies start with. Instead of finding investors who have expectations, I am starting from literally nothing, contracting developers with low experience who are trying to break into the industry and they are paid a percentage of sales after the game is completed. If a game is uncompleted, nobody gets paid. I have 2 teams working on 2 separate games. One team is a bit bigger and works on somewhat larger scale games, while the other team works on firing out mobile games every 6-8 months. This keeps a constant stream of low income, while the bigger games get a burst of larger income. We are working on our first 2 games now, so we will see how this works. The goal is to do this for the first 5-7 years at which point we hope to have made enough and expanded our teams enough that we can do this full time. The studio is called Dark Rabbit Studios, check us out! :)

See... I'm spoiled in a way. I'm an old school gamer. When games were released, they were complete. They were as developed as they ever would be, and they were either good or bad, and the publishers accepted this. They were also a lot less detailed and complex, and so to me, I can't really grasp the concept of pushing out more and more unfinished product. It seems like all the various devs and producers do by putting out unfinished games, patchable or not, is slowly drive people away from gaming in general. You say the line that Miyamoto's comment drew has been blurred. But it hasn't. Look at how you talked down on No Man's Sky, even though the devs worked miracles to changee that game to what it was meant to be originally. Nothing they've done matters in your mind because of what they did FIRST. You say gaming companies can't sit around for three years developing their next game. I say neither can they keep cranking out half assed games no one likes or wants to play, then expect people to not care. Sadly, it comes down to what a lot of people heree are saying though. As long as people will buy literally any game that a company puts out, the practice will continue.

I honestly feel like, given what I've personally seen from the gaming industry, that a lot of games center around the visuals of the game. If EA is wanting to release a game, they want it to look pristine, usually at the cost of an engaging storyline and/or a bunch of a bugs being present in the game. The point I'm trying to make here is that visuals are, to my understanding, the most time consuming part when we're talking about the production of any video game, and how do you make a game look fantastic? Usually, this involves shading all the right parts. Now, I'm no artist and I may not know all that much about creating art, but shading allows for a sense of realism when you're looking at a picture or a set of moving frames, what with shadows and light and how that light interacts with surfaces. Which (finally) brings me to my point: I feel like we can expect to see more quality, working video games upon release once developers start implementing ray-tracing into their titles, as that would cut down heavily on the amount of time (and therefore money) required to bring a game's visuals up to what is expected by both the publisher as well as by gamers. This change will take time to implement, naturally, but as more PC gamers start switching to using hardware (and companies like Microsoft and Sony that start implementing ray-tracing hardware into their respective consoles as well) that allows for efficient rendering of ray-tracing, more devs should start using that procedure to set the graphics in their titles, which would allow them to more appropriately allocate resources to other aspects of the game they are working on, such as focusing more on mechanics, story line, and cleaning up bugs, which would hopefully result in more polished, and ultimately finished, games upon launch. But that's just my take on it all. I could be wrong.

I strongly agree. Not to mention you get abominations like Driver 3 if you push the release date too hard. And nearly destroyed the franchise. (Driv3rgate was the original gamergate and was covered up a lot more effectively) And of course, Mass Effect Andromeda comes to mind. Among many many others. Pushing the deadline too hard has killed more than one game that could have been great and a best seller. In the long run, that is just bad business. They're letting deadlines and greed for day one sales to get in the way of the long term goal of making a good product that will sell for decades. That is one reason I keep saying the AAA game market is in for a correction.

I love Bethesda on that point. Sure, their games are glitchy and buggy as hell and they add less and less lore into the games in order to reach a wider audience, but their games are still great and they don't rush them. They've literally stated over and over again, that games are released when they're released. Sure, there's also the entire controversy surrounding Creation Club, but tbh, I don't think it's justice to send all the rage directly towards Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios. With the contents of this video in mind, I think it's safe to assume that while CC was designed and created by Bethesda Game Studios, it was most likely not decided by them. It was most likely decided by either Bethesda Softworks (The publisher) or Zenimax Games (the owner of the former two as well as other Game Studios). Since Bethesda Game Studios were the developers of both the newest Fallout and of the TES series, I believe the decision was made that they should also create the CC versions for those games. Despite Todd Howard being against the entire concept in the first place.

Releasing games fast means the sooner you get money. You can then make the excuse that the rest of the content will be available through DLC. Games like Fortnite, I think, are so popular because the game is constantly being updated with new content and has patches. While, games like No Man's Sky and Sea of Thieves get shit on simply because of the lack of things to do. Kingdom Hearts 3 has taken so long because Tesuya Nomura, and Square Enix , want to finalize on a complete product.

Steam has to regulate all these "early acces" games coming out in hundreds every month these days. It can't be true that you can buy a game that is so unfinished that it is totally unplayeable. Something has to be done about this lazy attitude that has grown among the developers in the gaming industry. You gotta understand that this is a product you are selling to the consumers for the FULL price. They now have to wait at least one year or so to get the full potential from the money they've spent before the game is fully finished. I doubt there are any other businesses where you can get away with selling an unfinished product. Imagine if you went to a restaurant to go buy a sandwich, to get it faster, you get the early acces option. You then start out with two slices of bread and then the cook would come and further add the rest of the ingredients on a regular basis for half a year. Sounds like a nice meal? Not really. This is why it is so heart-tearing to buy what looks like such a cool, fun and nice looking game and then realize that you have to wait at least a year or one and a half, to get the full experience from the hard earned money you just spent on it. I understand it is a good way for the developers fund the game and make it even more advanced with time, than it would have been without early acces... But can you atleast just make sure the games are 100% playable when you release them in early acces to the public? Everytime I tried to kill a zombie in "Hunt Showdown" or interact with something, the game either crashed or I got disconnected. The developers need to regain the respect they used to have towards the consumers before early acces was a thing, so please, Crytek, next time you release a game in early acces, make sure ALL of your consumers can enjoy the small unfinished bits you've released to the public... I'm glad that steam at least has refund function now, thank god.

This is why you wait for reviews to come out and why companies like Gamespot and IGN exist. Yes there are payoffs between game publishers and professional review outlets like IGN and Gamespot so this is why people like Angry Joe and Jim Sterling became famous. Also you can wait awhile until Metacritic has compiled enough industry and user reviews to make a more educated buying decision. BTW greed is a good thing not a bad thing. Greed is what causes everyone to go to work and provide services for others. You are confusingly associating fraud with greed and fraud is both unmoral and illegal. What Hello Games did with the promotion of No Man's Sky was fraud because they lied about what their product was to consumers to generate sales.

... It really depends. Some companies do it because it is actually needed and they do intend to do good by their customers, but there are always the bad apples that take advantage of these things and ruin it for the good ones. You should either avoid works in progress, or be a more educated buyer knowing the risk by researching who you are supporting. I have seen terribly obvious cash grabs make tons of sells which baffled me, and those with good backgrounds and reputation get nearly nothing... People do not research or make truly educated purchases anymore. They are sold by the flashiest things, and then go full hate and " Vs. the machine Mode" when they fuck up. They act first before thinking basically and blame everyone else for it. So I would say it's both some companies taking advantage of this, and the consumers being more sheep like/ignorant with their money. Not to mention the need for some to actually do this method to stay afloat as they try to finish them game.

People are innocent to buy unfinished games, however the developers aren't innocent when they stop updating. Here's the problem... that no one will solve. It's as though you pay the wages to someone before work is done, but he just does nothing all of the sudden, and you cannot fire him, or force him to give you the money back.
@olmoodyversion2.0866 жыл бұрын
Well.. there´s only one acceptable reason to stop updating after entering EA: Bankrupt. Otherwise it´s either waiting a few month for a big update, if nothing happens, you know that someone wanted to have some cash. Actually steam solved that problem once (or twice), they gave people who bough WarZ/Infestation their money back, but theres no real other solution at that point.

Even if there are problems, Patches and Mods are relatively easy to acquire. So yeah, sticking with Older Games.

I believe the market is just half and half between finished and unfinished games from large publishers. It's simple really, all you gotta do is look and see which publishers are more consistent with releasing unfinished games, and don't consider buying any of their games unless you know the development length of that game is significant (see the amount of time it took to make Witcher 3 or BotW as opposed to almost any assassin's creed game or most EA titles) that alone will tell you if a game might have been rushed. A little research can go a long way

One man indie developer here. I've been working on an action RPG for a few years, and it'll probably come out on steam next year, but I'm only concerned with quality assurance. There's no set deadline for me. If it's got any notable problems when everything else is finished, it's not going to be released in that condition. Better to be sure of quality rather than trying to just get fewer people to buy it sooner and accept lower reception. I don't think people should rush these things.

Speaking of Codemasters, here is a REALLY upsetting fact: Back in the day I purchased Clive Barker's Jericho (underrated AF IMHO), nevertheless it had a really shitty "feature". The game had the option to input cheat codes to get stuff like infinite ammo, health, weapons and so on; however to get those codes you had to call to one of those pay-per-minute phone numbers and yes, those codes were directly related to the code in your game. Pay to cheat? I don't know, but it was annoying since one of these days I wanted to replay the game and there was no way to get those codes now. And I'm not even talking about paying, but maybe some universal code since the game is out of support. How about doing a video about it @Gameranx? I can help you.

Speaking as a Web and Application Dev, we normal have a deadline and work up to that point, while testing as well. We have to balance content with functionality, so we may delay some functions if they take longer to complete in our dev cycle til the next cycle. Coding is not a simple matter, some times there are glitches and delays for viable reasons, when you are waiting on information from a 3rd party, or the functionality you want to add may take 3 weeks to complete and not 2 weeks. Software development is not a simple processes and even with the simplest of applications you can hit issues, so for game devs it even harder.

It's a trash game that was unfinished at launch and I won't pay 150€ to have the complete edition when the second season pass will be out. As far as I am concerned they should not charge the same asking price as The Witcher 3 if they cannot match its value offering to players. I would be lenient or perhaps even be favorable towards NMS had they launched at $20/$30.

Very very few do so, they're essentially becoming like mythical unicorns IMO. Only CD Projekt RED & Nintendo's 1st party. Outside of them I fully expect every game to release in shambles and charge 50-100% more beyond purchase price to complete it so I wait 1 year for complete edition AKA what should have been there Day 1. The argument about needing extra money is BS because profits have never been higher in gaming history than today. The only truly fair games have been Witcher 3, Skyrim, Nintendo games like Zelda BotW, Super Smash Bros, Mario Odyssey, perhaps Fallout 4, and Dark Souls 3 although perhaps I only feel this way for FO4 because I bought Season Pass before the price increase. Perhaps also God of War & HZD. And I now have doubts towards Bethesda due to jumping on online bandwagon with Fallout 76, though at least they have claimed that MTX for 76 are cosmetic only & that future games such as Starfield/TES6 will be single player. Hopefully they make good on this so I can again count them among my Big Three of game development: CD Projekt, Nintendo, Bethesda.

When DaVinci said "Art is never finished, only abandoned," it wasn't meant to be taken literally the way Lucas seems to have. It was fun/clever wordplay, like when MacArthur said, "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away," he didn't mean soldiers never actually die. He was being poetic. Soldiers eventually die, and art is (for all practical purposes) eventually finished. If you bought a painting you would not expect the artist to show up at your door one day saying "Hang on, I just need to tweak a few things and then you can have it back." Game companies need to learn to "abandon" their games in a playable, complete, and (if at all possible) bug-free state.

Well battle front 2, fifa and the Sims are clear examples of this.

Sims....REALLY good example at dlc's. I think the Sims 4 has like 30-ish the last time I checked.
@coraldiamond19226 жыл бұрын
Jolly Cooperation In regards to being unfinished. That is why there are so many DLCs that have no place. They stripped the content out and instead of selling a game for a full price of £60 they instead sell it as a complete experience for over £300.

"Why Are More Games".............. What game have you played the past 5 years that havent had a DLC or gotten some patch to fix the broken version of the game that was released? XD lol

It's just that everyone behind doing anything miss the very important steps of making a game good. People need to have a list to look at when creating content: -Idea -Talking about the idea (not taking every advise just the constructive ones) -Creating from scratch -Showing the Idea to close friends -mTHEN and only THEN start developing the game -Set a reasonable scheduled date which doesn't have to be 10 years but not even an year which is not enough imo -Come up with ideas that will make the game more profitable but keeps the game well balanced and really enjoyable -Make sure at least 90% of the game is complete before releasing -Patch the game to complete it as close to 100% within the first 2 months. This is my opinion as a non-game maker tho, so I might be wrong, but I think this way developers make a great game and gety paid really good for it, publishers make a lot of moneky out of the game itself and DLCs/Loot Boxes/whatever as long as it stays well balanced and gamers are happy to spend their money on the products and will close an eye or two over a few unfinished things if the game itself is good.

this is why i like insurgency sandstorm. They held back the console version until winter 2019 when pc came out in august because it was glitchy and they wanted to polish it. i respect that and the changes they have made are worth the wait.

People who know the game isnt finished, complain about it being unfinished, still buy, get mad at day 1 patches, rage about loot boxes, but still buy the full game, the season pass, AND some more on loot boxes... Then they complain its the companies fault, while they're the idiots that feed them.
@isidorodaviddoro19206 жыл бұрын
Jolly Cooperation yeah bro lol look at star wars Battlefront 2 the game is a mess it is full of microtrasactions the game is pay to win and there is almost no content many dumb gamers knew about This but they bought the game anyway,This is dumb

There's no conspiracy or mystery. It's just laziness. Before they had the ability to patch games they always released a finished product. Now, they know they can get away with less work and finish the product later, and that has made them lazy.
@coraldiamond19226 жыл бұрын
clericofchaos1 Less work and earn more for it then releasing a complete experience.
@marcusclarkson26576 жыл бұрын
clericofchaos1 people buying it made them lazy. If people dont buy it, they wont do it, PERIOD. Folks get online and bellyache all they want but when they swipe that card it drowns out any complaints they make.

Honestly I think that's going to plague us more this year. I enjoy early access titles at times, particularly on steam where maybe it's one guy or a small team, and they need that time to get the idea out and finance as they go. I've actually started buying more games that show promise or already appear at a fun and playable level. But consoles and big developers need to stop releasing too far ahead. Like you pointed out already, a bad game is a bad game for good. Mass Effect was killed by probably a pushed schedule. And PUBG, I enjoy it and its early access but its gonna sink in the wave it created by not optimising and completely faster. Last years plague was loot box and microtransactions and this years is early buggy unfinished games. Hopefully that's corrected. To me, a release date in today's day, probably isn't as relevant as opposed to previous years. Sure, boosted sales round Christmas but if a game is solid, with streamers and just internet, people will find out and buy no matter when it's out. Anyway, great vid and look forward to the next

There need to be more game like elite dangerous. They add lots of content each year and released a full game and the one dlc is not a bad price.
@Simrathe6 жыл бұрын
Irish Roddy Elite is seeming to have a problem with the ampunt of content in the game overall though. Despite that, credit is certainly due to them for supporting their game for as long as they have
@irish95796 жыл бұрын
bLu3_BOLT63 But I also hear that the devs are working on atmospheric landing starting with planets like Mars and eventually getting to earth like planets in chapter 4, and that's coming at the end of this year.

My perspective as an indie developer is, especially if you don't already have one, getting a community around my game so I can have people to give their thoughts on my game so it doesn't end up being vacant in exciting content to a mass of people

Did we play two different games I was completely fulfilled with ffxv, granted it got linear toward the end but a truly fulfilling game without the requirement of dlcs unlike games like destiny which are completely crap. The only reason for ffxv becoming linear t ok ward end was because they changed the original story and said they didnt have enough time to keep the world open the way they wanted to for ending but all in all great story and game.

10/10 review. First , devs just copy paste code from old games, ( lazy, save money , time table , doesn't matter why) , look at gta5 , the original vehicles meta was pretty much identical to gta4 vehicles meta, they literally just copy pasted it over. Even hitman , during episodic release the npc's had the same exact dialogue from hitman absolution , but was later removed. This is not the problem, the problem is the devs who wrote the original files have moved on to different companies , and the devs who take their place are not really familiar with the coding ,and they add more lines of code that conflict with old lines ( and they dont know how to fix it). Second,what you said at 6:06 people will find something broken with any game ,doesnt matter how refined it is. Devs know this and rather then pre refine , only to receive additional criticism , they choose to release unpolished versions knowing you were going to complain no matter what , and they fix it to make it appear as if they were appealing to consumers. Two birds with one stone.
