Hi guys, I really hope this video is well timed, and puts peoples minds at rest. (and to be honest I could of filmed for an hour on this) Thumbs up if its helpful. I see first hand, new gardeners seeing crops fail and they think it them, or just giving up after sowing just one tray. The rules of this game is that the more you fail the better you become! So this year we have ALL become better gardeners :) Please add your comments below on what's failing and feel free to comment on other posts if you can help out and support.

My biggest problem at the moment is French beans , either they don’t germinate at all or they get eaten quickly.

Hi Marian, Great comment the slugs have been rampant this year. BUT good news we can still sow or direct sow beans now, the latest I've seen a crop being harvested was in October so don't panic just yet. If you follow the steps and advice on this video you will get a crop kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWe8qmmPZpmqZ9k

Yeah It's been a strange year so far, but we still have time to recover. Think the main take away is to always re-sow if your seedlings fail. And not to blame yourself. 🙏🙏🌱🌱

Leaf miners 🤬🤬 they re eating everything including my flowers. Slugs ate my tomatoes but it’s 30c here so I’m hoping that keeps them at bay. Great update as always Glen, have a super week ahead, Ali 🥵🥵🇨🇦

I was on the plot this morning cursing spring onions and Parsnips, Ive lost count the amount of sowings i have done of them. Alot of seeds in general seem to be very hit and miss this year

Great comment, The spring onions I sowed 7 days ago are now showing signs of life. Fingers crossed. There's still hope🤞

Good to know about the carrots. I have sown about 6 times, just bought another packet, will keep trying. Also my nematodes have not worked so well this year. Nice to hear about general problems that everyone is having.

Thanks Kevin, really appreciate the feedback 👍 try doing your carrots in seed trays then plant out. Far to many slug this year.

Hi Glen, I think this is a great content idea and a chance for people to voice their problems and get advice on how to improve things. My issue is seed germination in the poly tunnel. My beetroot and lettuce have germinated really poorly and my feeling is it’s just too hot, reaching 36-46 most days. I’ve now taken to taking the seeds I’ve sown home to germinate, but that was only a couple of days ago, so I don’t know the results of that yet. What do you think? Or any other suggestions. I have built a shade netting box in the tunnel now, in readiness for the new seedlings.

Hi Pete, hope your well buddy. For sure seeds in the polytunnel this time of year can be tricky as they tend to dry out very fast. I put the salad lettuce seedlings in trays then fill the base with around 3mm of water this keeps them going on hot days. onion seeds can go outdoors mine are on a table but make sure the seed pots have drainage in case it rains. 🙏🙏🌱🌱 In heat waves I put all my tender seedling on the north side of the tunnel, they love the shade.

I only grow in the garden but I agree completely with the spring onion issues, absolutely awful. Some advice would be useful as my Cobra beans are also extremely slow, they’ve all germinated but hardly growing at all, I sowed directly for the first time this year, was this a mistake? Great video.

I just lost my final butternut and crown Prince plants to slugs. My first earlies have drowned , the pigeons have pulled up all my peas,, my greenhouse is waterlogged so my garlic rotted and I still can't plant my cucumbers .and a stupid woodpidgeon got in my polytunnel and knocked half the apricots off my tree and the storm blew over my tallest sunflower , this years been a nightmare , On the upside my wildlife pond is looking gorgeous

Hi Jimmy, its been an apocalyptic year so far, so take comfort in the fact your not alone. Start some more seeds off (fast crops) and give those a go. hope some tips in that video helped you out. I may be putting in a small pond over the winter, so stick around, I may need your advice 🌱🌱🙏🙏
