First, allow me to compliment your Pinktober nails, very cute little ghosties! Second, isn't some of this why it's a good idea to stick with a single brand through prep rather than mix-matching brands? I feel like the main message here isn't just to keep us from flooding our nails, but also to think about what our specific gel products need to properly adhere for a lasting wear. I'm not a nail tech, but you've taught me so much! Thank you!

Yes that is also something I actively advocate about which is there are a lot of caveats to mixing and matching brands. Glad you enjoyed this video!

Great visual aid! This is perfect timing for me. I just did a fresh set on myself 3 nights ago and lost a nail today. Didn't even feel it come off. So somewhere in my local Walmart is a gorgeous jelly purple chrome stiletto lol 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😂

Perfect visual!! I’m a DIY’er but do get to the salon as well because there is a lot to learn. Watching your videos repeatedly I now observe the nail techs & sadly notice what they don’t do and/or not doing properly. I’m not being cruel but I’ve always felt apprehensive of speaking up for myself to a tech because they can get snippy & then your stuck with a snippy tech doing your nails! But in their defense & watching your business videos I now understand they have to keep it moving or who knows what their boss is asking of that tech?! The nail industry is massive & your videos are packed with knowledge, that far reach just learning how to do a gel manicure. Please know the positive impact you’re contributing to this industry AND the consumer! Thank you so much!

Thank you for this explanation. I always have issues with lifting, especially on the free edge of the nail. I've let my nails grow out for a year and I have naturally very thin nails. So I use hard gel with gel color to prevent breaking. This has worked for me but I still get lifting. Even with professional nail techs. After watching your video I thinknI understand, maybe less is better. I was using a dehydrator and bonder before a primer as I mimic what I see done at the salon. I'll try just a dehydrator maybe 🤔

Great representation! I’d love to see a video on wipe vs no wipe top coats. I notice with tack-free top coats there is always a tint (photoinitiators?) and it can alter some gel colors. I always prefer traditional “wipe” top coats as I find they will show the true color underneath. From a chemical composition standpoint, what makes tack-free top coats fully cure? I have so many questions lol

Thank you so much for this.. I've had problems doing my own nails and the whole polish separated off from the free edge and the lifted off like a false nail, all the layers in 1 sheet...... I couldn't work out why.... Thought it was too much moisture on the nail from using cuticle remover cream..... So i used MORE primer........... Have asked on lots of nail channels but no one has answered me...... 1st time I've watched your videos and here is my answer..... THANK YOU 😊 💅
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 8 ай бұрын
Glad I could help! If the polish is peeling off in one sheet within the first couple of days to me that signals an adhesion problem, but more primer is not necessarily the answer. Take a look at the base product you're using and also your nail prep. Gel does not like smooth surfaces so even for gel polish you have to have proper nail prep. Stay tuned as I just restarted my Gel Nail Fundamentals playlist and I will be going through everything step by step.

Thank you so much for this video! I get a system, have lifting, get frustrated and stop using it. Try a new system, have lifting, get frustrated and stop using it. But the thing I ALWAYS use after my prep is Gelish pH bond. I always just thought pH bond was a dehydrator! I'm going to cut that step out from my prep and hope that I get much better results.

Thank you so much very helpful cause I have protein Bondar and I do have acid bond or non-acid bonders but I also I wanted to tell you that I’ve got your IBX system that you recommended all way back when I was watching a few years ago and it’s really done a lot for my nails because I do my own nails so of course when I first started doing them, I was damaging them a lot but seven years later I’m doing great and this IBX system has just been wonderful and I thank you for that

Great information. Does LE have a PH bonder or protein bonder?
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 10 ай бұрын
They have a ton of different options. Their PH Bonder equivalent would be AirBond (although it has some "protein bonding" features). And their "protein bond" equivalent would be Tack. Check out this video for the full breakdown straight from Jim: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGrchJSQfJmni80si=uZGhOBZKtGLjgCSD&t=129

I watched a video where the nail tech said to add a second coat of protein bond if needed and I thought it was overkill. This visual just confirms it. (Not saying they were deceptive, just didn't feel right for me)

Your intuition was definitely right. With proper prep/application and a quality product you should never need to double or triple up on anything.

So I am still not certain what comes first when doing acrylic nails and you have a problem with lifting. Should you do air bond and then primer, primer and acrylic, primer then air bond then acrylic? Otherwise great video

Just what I needed. Could damaged nails also cause lifting?
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 10 ай бұрын
Yes. Overly damaged nails are going to have a really hard time holding onto product. If you feel your nails are lifting no matter what and they are also extremely thin then let them rest and grow out. Keep them short, keep them moisturized, and they will grow out and recuperate in no time (even though it may feel like it takes forever :) ).

What about acid primers? I see alot of techs who swear by the no lift nails.
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 10 ай бұрын
Acid primers help etch nails. They can be great for certain clients that have those sorts of nails you could file for days and not see an impact. But methacrylic acid can be very irritating to the skin so use very sparingly and only as needed. Try with just great prep first and the basic instructions for the products to use from the manufacturer. Then you can adjust for certain clients. Remember less is more and everything you use just adds another variable. I try to test one change at a time and always document what I used and how it worked before trying something else.

Please,for people that do not kmow even the basics,can someone explain those protein bonds,primers,dehydrators when are being used? I have eatshed so many videos and I am confused when u use the dehydrators, when the base coat,or no coat at all,when the protein bond. Don't kmow if you need to use two of them together like dehydrator and then protein bond? Please can someone explain this simple things according to building gel,gel polish,and acrylic because I hv buy to make nails at home but can't find this information

For some reason I thought a PH bonder was the same as a dehydrator. Is this not true?
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 10 ай бұрын
It can be multi-purpose depending on the formula/manufacturer, but usually a PH bonder means it is changing the surface PH. The most common and honestly best dehydrator we use as nail techs is usually acetone.
