Think of it like a ratings system out of 100, in the ratings system you get an extra point for every inch over 5 feet. now if your 7 feet tall, that will give you extra points but you can still have no skill whatsoever, so you’d only have a score of 24 out of 100 in that case. Or you can be 6 feet tall and have a score of 90 because you are full of talent and athleticism. There are diminishing returns on height after a certain point. Once you reach 6'7, most reasonably athletic men should be able to dunk and get high enough to ock shots, so after that skill and athletic ability take over. There's also an inverse relationship between body weight and speed/height of your jumps. A larger body tends to weigh more, which means more mass to move when you run or jump. It's why most of the fastest people aren't actually that tall, or that muscular.

@@mr.brightside6087 you have until 21 but after the last stage in puberty, you won't grow much, maybe some centimeters. My growth was later much like my puberty. I really only transitioned into stage 5 puberty at like 17 which is later than usual and I naturally hit (hitting) my growth spurt at that time. 5'2, 15 - 5'11, 17 and I'm still in that growth spurt phase since I'm 17 now and I grew like 1 inch already this summer.

It is just because most of them are late bloomers for example Dennis rodman hit puberty like 19 or 20 years old, the reason why late bloomers are taller is because the much more time to grow before androgens converts to estrogen and shuts down the growth

My real question is how is it that even when basketball players are short, they eventually grow taller fast, even when they have short parents?!?! Lamelo ball was 5'5 at 13, then he became 5'11 at 14, and now he is about 6'9. So he was basically short when he started out.🤔🤔

Point is though, they are still selecting from a pool of players who are tall because that makes them better at the game. With some exceptions of course such as Nate Robinson or Chris Paul. Height in NBA is everything. Give me one NBA player under 5'9 thats in the hall of fame. On the other hand, in Baseball, you can carve a hall of fame career being 5'7 like Joe Morgan or Yogi Berra. Jose Altuve is 5'6' and is on his way to the hall of fame. While Not short, 5'10 Ichiro Suzuki is on the shorter side and is one of the greatest players ever. Willie Mays is 5'10 and is the greatest player ever, etc...

Work on your outside shooting and always go to the basket strongly and jump into the defenders body while finishing. That way they can't jump and you will be able to be faster at the rim than the tall defenders. Im 17 and 5.8' and usually have to play against 6.2'-6.9' guys, you are going to need to put a lot of work in it to keep up but it will be worth it.

I played tall ppl in basketball and if they know how to play they're insanely hard to beat. I've seen a 6ft basketball player demolish ppl that are 5'9 and below. But if he played a person that was the same height he wouldn't win as easly

But you have to understand that NBA Players are generally expectional human beings. They often come from an already athletic family and have insane mobility and body control for people who are this tall. There is a reason why there are only about 400 NBA players.

Many people believe that basketball make you taller but that’s not the case. All of my friends have played basketball for many years and only two of them are 6 foot and above. Height is genetic and basketball is a sport that the taller you are the most appropriate you are to play that game that’s all. NBA players even if they wouldn’t play basketball would still be tall. It’s all genetics. Yes some people will say. Genetics shit but my parents are short and I’m tall how genetics? Still it is genetics inherited from your grandfather or even your great grandfather. There’s a guy who’s over 220cm and his parents are shorts but he found out that his great great grandfather was 217cm. Sometimes genetics pass to 3-4 generations. What I’m saying is that if your parents from both sides and their ancestors were short. Sorry buddy but basketball won’t increase your height.
