For your kind information, Nirf ranking is not based on packages. It is based on a number of other parameters like research, quality of teaching, etc.

Even though IIT-M ranked no.1 by the nirf, it is really so underrated then what it deserves. It is far more better than Bombay & Delhi.. But simply the location mattered mostly by students.

First of all NIRF Rankings aren't rankings for placement!!!! Just ONE factor out of say 10 factors is placement! Baaki agar IIT Jodhpur (30) & BITS Pilani(29) are so close though BITS Pilani has God level placements, toh samajh jao ki aur saari chize hai where IIT Jodhpur stands better than the former. Isliye rankings itni close hai Ye alag baat hai ki ek Ranking system banni chahiye which is totally based on placements, as I understand Hindustan ke zyada tar log uss hi ke liye College jaate hai! But overall environment dena, College ke kitne facilities hai, campus size kya hai, satisfactory rate, happiness amount, library ke kuch facilities, hostel & mess facilities, AC Classrooms, ye saare saare chhote chize bhi matter karti hai for someone like me, that's why NIRF Rankings aren't totally bad.
