Deep study is needed but so is revision (basically repetition) otherwise you might understand something deeply but forget quickly due to the plethora of concepts and rules (mostly in chem). That is the benefit these early prep starters have. I didn't have enough revision time during my days due to which even though my understanding during study was good and deep and I scored awesome in class tests when the chapter was taught, (used to score close to 2 digit JEE-A rankers, sometimes even more) I had poor recall during the exams and it hit me horribly (got lower 4 digit finally). Enough revision and practice will also help you remember some small things like familiar equations/solutions, problem patterns, etc., which might not be related to understanding but can speed up your problem solving. After all, you cannot derive everything from first principles in the exam hall and it is an MCQ exam so no points for doing stuff partially or for correct "approach". The faster you solve the problems, the more relaxed you are during the exam and the more accurately you solve. On the contrary, if you waste time or are slow in recalling stuff, you panic due to less time left and screw up other problems as well. It's a domino effect. Also, please please take care of your health, especially if you already have existing issues. This aspect also affected my everyday routine heavily as well as my overall well being. Take care and all the best to all the aspirants!

This is the holy grail of advice. I wish i saw this in 11th... I was always a deep studting person and i did so in 11th as well. But as i realised that my teachers and peers were going astronomically faster than me i got scared and rushed by the portions as well. I should've trusted that the graph of my learning was not just increasing but so was its acceleration. From now onwards u will not lie to myself, i will deep study only and compare myself to myself only.

- 🧠 Deep self-study involves focusing on theory and problem-solving, not just theory repetition. - 🔄 Revisiting theory and concepts after encountering flaws during problem-solving is crucial for deep understanding. - 🕰 Time management is essential when engaging in deep self-study and problem-solving. - 🚀 Recognize individual differences in intellectual abilities and do not feel discouraged by perceived delays in progress. - 📚 Avoid shortcuts in studying and focus on building a strong foundational knowledge. - 🌟 Consistent improvement in understanding and abilities over time is more important than rapid progress. - 🔍 Quality over quantity: prioritize understanding concepts deeply rather than covering numerous topics superficially. - 💪 Continuous self-improvement, disciplined study methods, and sacrifices lead to comprehensive academic preparation.

@@vedantpandey9769 well.. let me tell u how i study, 1. i rush the theory if i feel comfortable , im 2026 aspirant and im from Bengal board, i find alot of chapters similar in class 11 so i dont waste time in the theory coz i know the basics, so i just jump straight into the question and my focus is the learn most from the question, agree or not questions r the only thing which show u where ur lacking, no matter how good u study there will always be a question which u teach u something new, so i just jump into the question coz my basic concepts is build ( if i dont know the basics i prefer to see a full lecture in a disciplined way and give it my utmost attention so that i dont ever need to watch lectures again, ) important point chemistry is very exception, dont try this in chemistry, do the active recall technique in chemistry. 2. as i jump in to question, i imagine the whole scenario (physics, and math) then i try to find ans like all, BUT, i also try to find why other options r not correct (a lot of the time its easy to find whats not correct than what is correct ). then i summarize it all and try to get a glimpse what i learned . and yes i kinda dont wanna suggest u or anyone doing it coz it takes 10 to 30 mins even a hour or even a day in a question. 3. its not necessarily for us do all the qs right but as i said i priorities learning from the qs than ans it like a dummy, when ever i stuck i do a) read the question and visualize it and try to figure out what i cant of what i lack, its impossible that i lack all the knowledge so than means there is very little problem ( not in the qs but in the concept) so i figured those ( like for example in a kinematics qs we know how to ans it if we know the time but apparently we dont know the time or something but u cant figure it out any how), b), i write all the data from the question like all the data i can get ( alot of the qs gets solved here btw) c), if i know what particular thing i dont know i ask gpt or google ( for example projectiles in inclined motion) (alot of the qs gets solved here btw,) after i get my doubt solve i do some qs from hc verma or my module (easy qs) d) if not possible to solve it then the solution is in back side of the book, and all i do is back calculation ( i feel dump when the ans were easy😔) e) if not possible i use Google lense and see the vid solution and in this point i already spent like half an hour btw so its about ego and curiosity at this point all i need to know in the concept what i dont know, after video solution i finally understand the qs and the concept, 4) i change subjects if i get frustrated to mention : i only do few ( 5 or 6) easy qs then all adv level question then pyqs the book of qs in general physics ie irodov so dont think that im doing easy or moderate qs all day, i was doing kinematics and maths for a month and its not complete, but i have deadline and i know i can complete in dead line( like module 1 in may)

Key points: → Spend less time on theory, focus more on solving problems. → If you can't solve any question, don't see the solution, but revisit the theory. And make your concept stronger. → Focus more on quality rather than quantity. → Don't compare yourself to others. Your only motivation should be to improve your own self. → There is no magic pill. It's just diff. between your attitude and your strategies of how you approach your studies.

Again excellent advice. To students reading this comment: Please pay attention to the points made by the good professor here, this sort of advice is very possibly not available elsewhere. To everyone: 1. Please pardon my extention to the advice. Between 8:00 and 9:00 a point was made about the difficulty of remembering the many many shortcut methods. I'd say, grasp the topics and the principles (core ideas) by taking your time, this will later aid you in remembering the shortcuts, which are easily picked up once the basics are grasped. Without good grasp of basics a shortcut will not be 'connected' to the core ideas, but will seem like an unmoored method to remember increasing cognitive load, not an quick obvious extension to the the core. 2. There seems to be a concern ( I think it is in the mind) wherein many a student keeps comparing his/her progress to that of the peers; This is almost entirely futile, don't look over your shoulder, don't peer ahead, after all this isn't literally a sprint... it is more like a marathon. The good prof's point of starting solidly and then picking up pace later is so very true, especially in the context of competitive exams as many problems involve a mix of topics.

Really wise words even as a former neet aspirant grasping how thing works is exponentially more difficult at the initial phase but the results are huge and evergiving (obv for phy and chem though) and coming to the shortcuts only go for them when you are thorough with the basics because you will always have a solid backup incase you forget

Then I was able to solve the problem without any help from book or internet.

After 12 I was basically was the main man, that everybody relied on. The burnout was unreal, the depression that i went through was ungodly. I tried to study the way i used to and couldnt, i was neither the very fast nor the very deep. Took me time to study, and i studied only for exams. My results also screwed me up. The feedback loop of burnout was unreal. I had an uncle who is a professor at a central university who used to tell me i was good enough for an IIT or an NIT but i was lazy. I wasnt lazy, I wasnt strong enough to take the burden. Long story short, I couldnt adapt to the times and situations of my life. Set me back a few years of my life.
