@Lil_Angst I have 100% achievements, I'm just grinding to have the "best" of each weapon class. Once you figure out how to fight the volatile, it's not too hard. Randoms can definitely be hit or miss, so it kinda sucks having the kemono almost dead and having a random bleed out on you. Lol I've been playing MH for 15 years, I gotta say, I love the gameplay in wild hearts much more.

I definitely agree, there’s so much about wild hearts that might just be that it feels fresh and new but the weapons alone keep me so interested, I love every weapon (except cannon’s) gameplay so much and discovering all the broken stuff you can do with each is really fun for me. Overall I can atleast say I prefer WH over every modern MH and we shall see how that changes with each new iteration, because I really am wanting a wild hearts 2 in the future

I just got bored. The combat system was fun in spurts but it doesn't have a smooth recurring vibe to it. The karakuri cheese and reliance is dull. The monster roster is weak. The weapons don't feel massively different in playstle, and they don't require much build wise because armor is kinda bleh.

I think they could make a small change and instantly make Volatile/Deeply Volatile hunts worth it. Volatile dropping a resource that allows you to convert a single Inherent Skill to an Inherited Skill would vastly improve replayability, and then Deeply Volatile monsters giving you a resource that allows you to add a 6th skill slot to a weapon. Another thing would be to add Volatile extensions to the Human/Kemono-Path armor upgrades that offer different skills, and puts all armor at the same tier of capability. Going back to the last video, also putting some weapon-specific skills on these new Volatile armor sets would greatly increase the utility of sets like Ragetail or Spineglider. Giving Volatile Ragetail skills like Extended Rap, and Spineglider gets Aerial Fury. Give Emberplume Speed Heat or High Spirits, and other thematically relevant skills (maybe Thread Thrift for Amaterasu)
@Lil_Angst Жыл бұрын
I actually love this idea, it would both give people a reason to come back to see what new things they can add to their weapons, and keeps people playing so they are able to properly farm out their own custom weapons or armor. It really does start to solve the biggest wall in my opinion of there just not being enough customizable skills. You my friend have a golden idea right here that I can only wish gets implemented

What about the Karakuri system brought you away from it? I always viewed it as a different way to do the items in monster hunter and am curious how you viewed it.
@ArcticWolf2110 Жыл бұрын
@@Lil_Angst Items in MHW are so easy to use. All you have to do is just use the radial and it's done. The karakuri system in wild hearts is just cumbersome. Not only you have too many button inputs, the the setup time is just way too long. For some reason if the monster decides to go into rage mode, all of the karakuri gets destroyed. The cooking system is stupid and inconvenient. Then comes the most annoyingly thing about the karakuri system; it only happens during co-op. People spamming the basic karakuri.
@Lil_Angst Жыл бұрын
The thing i like about the karakuri system over the MH Item system is im not forced to gather everything in order to get the baseline amount of items before unlocking the ability to have them farmed for me, while yes farms and the argosy help a lot i just dont enjoy putting a bunch of research points or resources towards something that (other than potions and traps) i dont find to be usefull. The button inputs arent really a problem to me, but learning long combo strings isnt something i struggle with coming from a lot of fighting games. While i do see your point on the cooking system, and the fact you cant carry enough food early to actually get a good stockpile of cooked and uncooked, i also wasnt the kind to eat on every single hunt, so i didnt struggle with it until end game when you have all the upgrades and can hold a good amount of food, but i do know a lot of people do not like the food system and i will admit that can be a short coming to the game. and unfortunately the basic karakuri spam is a bit pet peeve of mine, however thats a fault to the karakuri system and how integral it is to weapons being able to do enough damage and be played efficiently.

@Lil_Angst Жыл бұрын
True but once you got to chaotic gore and unlocked that version of melding it was insane, and those are a passive thing not having to actually fight the hardest boss, on top of they aren’t as important as they are in this since decorations and armor give more skills, now world and icebourne no that was bullshit and no one liked it, just because they were in those games doesn’t make them good systems at all, rng can only be so prevalent in a game without being just tedious and annoying rather than improving or lengthening the grind.

Coming from MH i felt like different weapon builds and affects made a big difference in MH. With WH Hearts i feel like the weapon experience doesnt really change no matter how you build it which doesnt inspire me to fight a ton of monsters to build a 2nd or 3rd version of the weapons... the accessory offering could also use an upgrade for making your character look cooler (maybe some capes, more masks, add auras?).

It's mostly what you described. I am a long time Monster Hunter veteran, but I do find myself not wanting to grind for transmogs to the extent the game would require me to, so that doesn't seem worth it. On a more general note. I feel like armour skills and talismans don't really impact my playing experience enough to warrant the grind. Is it nice to have 5% more of a skill on a talisman? Sure. Would I grind for it under the current conditions? Nope. I am managing the hunts quite well and the game doesn't give me a reason to improve, so I have no reason to follow the game loop
@Lil_Angst Жыл бұрын
That’s a good point, I never felt like I struggled enough that a talisman would’ve helped a lot when for 75% of the hunts I never even felt like eating was worth the investment sure there are times I do eat but most of the time it just seems like a big waste much like the actual talismans

I came to the same realisation recently. It's a shame cos I really enjoy the game but the endgame has completely failed to grab me. I have been enjoying making multiple weapons and builds etc but there's only so many cobalt lavabacks I can fight before I lose my mind. Also I can do that without ever interacting with volatiles and I'm not fussed about layered armour so I don't really bother. And don't get me started on deeply volatiles, they only drop *crystals*??? No new mats/weapons/armours?? All the effort for maybe 1% extra skill points on a talisman does not excite me at all...

They missed the mark with the weapons and gearing. Being able to inherit skills from other weapons is cool, but why must I build a queue of 20 different weapons, upgrading and downgrading myself along the way to get to the one I want with the skills I want? Just let me build the 5/6 weapons I want for the skills I want. And why didn't they do that system with armour? I also disagree with skills on armour pieces, in a game where the game expects you to build armours to counter a monster's strengths/weaknesses. The story also felt like it was almost a carbon copy of MHW. I do like the karakuri though. I think they add a non-linear and dynamic experience to every hunt, that every weapon can benefit from

The issue with this game is that it’s a farming game. When you make a farming game the farming must be ‘’easy’’ in a way that if you die it’s not too punishing but when you’re fighting a tough kemono and dies after 10 painful minutes and you lose EVERYTHING it’s just so painful it makes you want to quit. For exemple Souls games are more fun to farm because the fights are very hard BUT very fast. So if you die you just lost 2-3 mins at most so it doesn’t pain you that much.

And state to yourself this could be better? The deeply Volatile system may not be the best, but what end-game content is? Most games either have pvp as their end game or bosses you farm repeatedly. This is their first monster hunter style game, and for their first, they did an outstanding job in my opinion do they have room for growth of course but that's good that gives them stuff to build on for future content. The deeply Volatile are mostly for the challenge for the true player that want that which is why they are going to continue adding more and they are about to add new stuff you can build and weapons. Honestly I don't think game developers should focus so much on the casual players if you want to satisfy them its easy give them an option to pay real money to skip the grinding option in game. Lol it's true most casual players just want to start off OP and hate grinding. But good content not saying your opinions aren't valid these are just mine. Thanks

Absolutely my goal of this video was never to be “this game is terrible never play it.” And as I play the end game more and more I start to like it more and more, the point of this video was more so to highlight the aspects I feel need changed to bring it closer to a perfect game, which no game will ever be perfect. I maybe should’ve been more clear about my thoughts but I really want this game to thrive but if no one talks about the short comings then people won’t know how to improve, if for some strange reason a dev or someone watches this or reads the comments they can start to get an idea they have people who love this game and are willing to offer ideas that they may not like but would make the player base happy, either way I appreciate you leaving your thoughts!

Some people mention that MH is just as grindy when it comes to trying to get that extra little increase in your build. That's true, but I think what's different with World and Rise is that all materials have a use. Rise does an even better job of this than World did. In Rise, monsters from the lowest tier to the highest tier of monsters drop their regular materials, which all can be used towards crafting charms, armor, or decorations. Then there are unique mats that the endgame afflicted monsters drop for augmenting armor and weapons. Afflicted monsters also drop anomaly tokens, which can be spent at a shop to exchange for materials that further help towards min/maxing. Hell, even charms you dont want can be recycled into crafting new charms. Even those have use. Literally every hunt will end with usable rewards. no matter what monster you choose to hunt. And I feel that's the key. Even though these materials are ultimately used for grindy RNG crafting recipes in some cases, I feel the key thing that makes it feel better, is that the player has multiple choices. You have complete freedom and choice to farm literally any monster you feel like fighting, and you'll end that hunt with useful mats to your endgame min/maxing. You also have free choice to decide from multiple different crafting systems (charm craft, deco craft, armor craft, token exchange, weapon augment, armor augment) in where to use those materials. All these choices all across the endgame are what I feel allow players to hang in there a bit longer before burning out.

I’ve been saying it the whole time, this game is like a Pandora’s box of potential that if they could just iron out the issues and get an actually engaging end game this would be a serious competitor for a hunting game, but as it stands and with the severe lack of communication from the devs it’s getting more and more worrisome

@@Lil_Angst From how I see it they were trying to make their own monster hunter like a game the problem is they were trying way too hard not to copy monster hunter

I agree, as much as people defend it saying it’s their “first triple A” game and to cut them some slack and compare it more to past MH games if you’re going to, I think that’s absolutely the wrong line of thinking, and they had access to all of rise and the complaints/compliments both rise and world got, so there could’ve been some playing off of that to make something similar, but yet keep it fresh and there own. They strayed too far from mh on a lot of points they should’ve just copy pasted and spent more time on the more unique concepts like Karakuri, weapon trees, and developing a more interesting endgame

The grind is not worth it. I havent tried the talisman grind cuz I dont enjoy the deeply volitile. I like the normal volitile. But the deeply are not my cup of tee. But I can imagine having to grind key stones in order to get a chance on a better talisman is stupid. The deeply volitile should be replayable without using keystones after youve done them all. The cladding grind is also deeply flawed. You get on average 1 orb per monster or region. If I want a Golden tempest mask I need 10 golden tempest orbs and 10 akigure orbs. If you get one each fight thats 20 clears. On one armor part. Sometime you can get lucky and get 8 out of nowhere. But in my experience that's when I need one more, fml. I did it for multiple armor sets cuz I do enjoy the game still. But oh lord is it bad. Let alone you need to be lucky that komster you needthe orbs of are in rotation. I know you can glitch it by going on a duo hunt an only kill the one you need and reset the hunt. But that's not how it should be. This is by far bthe grindiest game Ive had with the least rewards. I still very much enjoy the game. But man does wear on you.

I hate the MH games. Clunky, slow, unresponsive in my experience. I beat all the content in them in like 75-100 hours, then didn't like how the weapons felt and couldn't bother to keep grinding. I'm on 220 of WH and finished the game around 100. I grind so that I'm ready for the next monster drop. Or because I love the look of the armor and want to look like a particular thing instead of taking random pieces. You don't all have to use Garuda either... you can mix it up and it'll be more rewarding feeling to win because you're playing off meta
@Lil_Angst Жыл бұрын
My only issue with playing “off meta” at the time was it was taking a massive loss in damage, not that it’s a big deal normally but if I have the option to just do 20% more damage I’m gonna take it, thankfully that’s slowly changing and getting better about having more viable option that are screwing yourself out of such a difference in damage, I still am very indifferent on the armor and weapon designs, the armor is meh, and the weapons are cool but I really wish you could do the armor cladding for that as well and pick the weapon that fits your outfit better

@Lil Angst 💯 on weapon cladding using grimstalker set I made a katana based on blade manifest and dodging. Combo with destruction to peel away parts of the kemono and one stroke critical, and it improved my time by a little compared to straight damage. Also I don't get one shot without resurrection anymore but tbh that's just a skill issue on my part lol

This isn’t this studio’s first attempt at a hunting genre game. The studio also made the Toukiden games, which initially came out in 2013. There are too many design decisions in this game that were not as well thought and polished as it's needed to be. You, me and people commenting here seems to be the minority

Performance is a massive issue that they seem to not be able to fully fix in the patches, they’ve made it better for sure but it doesn’t feel fast enough. While I easily could have only talked about that to me the performance feels more like a gate keeper rather than a reason to quit, I don’t think it’s right to say you “quit” the game when you couldn’t even really play it, with the most recent patch people didn’t quit but the performance inconsistencies and random drops that they never got before didn’t really cause them to quit, it just hate kept them from being able to play, while yeah we probably are the minority I think people aren’t viewing what the difference between quitting and just not being able to play are

Despite all the complaints about the rng mechanics in MH, the MH team deserves credit for being able to make games that people want to play for hundreds of hours and still enjoy. I put 1000 hours in MHW-I and I loved it the whole way through. The augment system in Iceborne was pretty good, it was simple, but generally pretty good and the guiding lands was kinda fun. I know the guiding lands was too grindy at first but they changed it to make it a little easier to grind and I thought it was a pretty good system in general.

Weapon upgrades feel really janky.... there's a lot of great "on paper" concepts that are implemented messily and by the end of the day, you'll be gunning for end boss weapon as the final one for your chosen weapon cause of the sheer superior raw stat that it has. I.e. there's really little to no variety, doubly so with how QoL skills are king and how limited inheritable skills are (at least make multiple of the same inheritable skills stack with somewhat diminishing returns instead of having them eat multiple slots if they're going to be so stingy with the inherit skill slots. Either that or greatly expand the number of allowed skills that people can play around with crit/ element, etc instead of being stuck with QoL skill to build weapon gauge. Endgame grind (talisman) giving so little increment is just mindboggling on how irrelevant the result is given the amount of expected effort. It's turn off even compared to charm farming in MH games in general. Hell, (deeply) volatile monster mats should've at least allowed us to up the number of inheritable skills on our weapon of choice, and/ or increase the stats to a degree to at least close the gap on a lot of the weapons to the final boss ones.

I feel a large issue with it is most people who whine about the end game don't realize by farming cladding they are also getting a bunch of materials for other weapons and to farm deeply volatiles. I think most people would really enjoy trying other weapons and it really prevents burnout by using multiple weapons. Lol I'd argue a large amount of the players that have stopped playing either only played staff and bow and never really used anything else. I do think there should be some sort of conversion system like x gold or x karakuri points(I have 1 million) in exchange for the orbs. But I don't really think having the cosmetics farm being where it is now is bad. It doesn't really take that long if you really know the fight and have a strong build. Most hunts will take less than 5 minutes which makes the farm time kinda whatever at the end of the day imo. Now that being said, do I think the end game is superlative? No, but do I think a lot of people are being too negative towards it undoubtedly yes. If your hunt times are consistently around 3mins for a volatile for cladding you can get it fairly quickly and in the process gain a bunch of keystones and monster materials as well. But I have a suspicion that a lot of people haven't actually learned the fights which causes their hunts to be very prolonged which then the hunts will drag on certainly. But most of the hunts in the game don't demand excellence imo, you can get away with trading a lot,which is fine, but when you really master a certain kemono hunt they go down considerably quicker and what's a great way to master one? Cladding farming 🤔.

While I agree not every game needs an end game, a big part of hunting games has been at least some form of an end game and continued content updates, and I was curious why mh can have people play for over 1,000 hours on each title and rush back to each content update where as I’m seeing people unable to return to wild hearts after hitting the endgame loop, when both on the surface have a very similar end game loop. I do think for most game genres the “need” for a constant end game loop is misplaced and ruins the game, I do think it’s important in hunting games and most action RPG styles since the replay ability takes a hit with the ability to do everything on one character and investment you put into them
