As I’ve gotten older (41) I’ve quit lifting weight for the most part and went to more Mike Tyson type circuits and navy seal burpees. I have to say after some time I’ve gotten pretty close to how I was when I was going to the gym years ago and only lifting weights. And I’m much leaner. The catch is that I do it almost daily. But I love it. It’s only 30 to 45 minutes in the morning in my living room then I’m done. And little to no soreness. The key is to do what works for you and what you enjoy. And as you get older it’s about safely and longevity.

I noticed high volume allows you to grow without being in a calorie surplus and eating a lot of protein. i applied it to weight training and now i do a 100 reps total to each compound lift and add weight when i can do 10 reps in a row, i never looked better and im losing fat without worrying to much about protein- eating 60- 90 grams of protein a day

This the exact change I just recently made. I'm only a week in but I'm confident I'll make better progress then the typical 7-10 rep 3 set progressive overload recipe.

@@absbenmahidi8623 I've been lifting in the 4-6 rep range for 3 sets followed by drop sets (minus 10lbs) x2 then 2 more drop sets (minus 10lbs) till failure. 3-4 bench sessions each week. One of the sessions is lower weight volume oriented (8-12) reps. Listen to your body. Make sure any pains aren't (bad) pains if so stop and heal. Longevity is the goal.

I have always worked out and lifted weights but my time in prison 2000-06 I gained the most muscle ever and in that time frame was the biggest ive ever been and was accused by EVERYONE I knew of being on roids lol (i was natural) Back then we did have a gym, lots of free weights (including dumbbells going up to 80kg) and some old machines. I trained a bodybuilding split (two muscle groups per session) 3-4 days a week and average workout was around 45 minutes. We were supposed to get an hour session but most of the time the gym screws (guards / PTs) would show up late to take our wing to the gym or we had to leave earlier for one reason or another. Due to this I made every session count. I went heavy on compounds, I used low rest times (60 seconds even on compounds) and used a lot of drop sets and intensity techniques. I basically crammed as much volume and intensity into each 45 minute session. Food was hard work purely as its so bland and took some work getting it in each day. I got alot of my protein from (in order) skimmed milk powder (id buy 8 large tubs a week) chicken (id get all the chicken left over from the servery and strip the bones and skin etc ) Tuna (id pay someone who worked down the kitchens to bring me back an industry sized full tin packed into a large styrofoam/take out container as a 'salad' which would last a few days) At weekends when breakfast was scrambled egg I would get the left over egg from the servery and put it into empty skimmed milk tubs and put it in the wing fridge)

the differences in oblique size is due to bending and spinning compensations with the load onto that muscle in workouts. the problem here comes from the side with more muscle is the weaker side towards strengthendurance. cause the side with lesser muscle is able to do the same like the other side without having that much costs for energy consumption while under stress. (meaning you have better technique on that side). to compensate for that. it means the side with more muscle on it had to adapt with more nutrients stored per fibre. hence it is optically looking bigger. this means your not so well side developed side is also your dominant side or strength side. its the same with being left handed vs. right handed. strength develops more in fiber resiliency (sarcomeric hypertrophy) and getting more out of existing fibres with better technique (explains why the lesser muscle side is the dominant side). not in volume adding to the fibre (sarcoplasmatic hypertrophy). its only an optical thing. cause from functionality it means both sides are running the same strength capabilities. what the weaker side lacks in technique and energy consumption capabilities. she makes up in mass volume for therefore. the human body unfortunately does not care about optics. it cares about how to best adapt to the load its stressed with. this balances both sides in effect out when inside an exersise. however it does not look so well. to change that i would look to optimize the technique for the weaker side (the bigger looking one) in special. this should force the dominant side to grow as well bigger. for exersise: stand in front of a mirror. now twist to one side with right arms hand ending to touch your left upper shoulder while at the same time left arms hand ending to touch your right side of the lower back (behind your back movement) about the height of the obliques on the side. do this in alternating way. to constantly switch sides. with a maximal bending and twisting in the spine and change in directions back and forth you also get the maximum stretch for that for the obliques realised that is possible in that standing position (a bit of crouching may stretch it further). can also be done with dummbbells with low weight or weight plates. and has the advantage to not tire you down that fast. so you can repeat it quite often in rep count. (the more you are able to twist to the other side the more you stretch this muscle in special), you can also use the punching/slapping effect to get additional muscle stress realized. when a muscle is punched or slapped often enough he also starts to adapt with more fibre density to protect you better against it. its a bit similar like cornea buildup on the skin when you grab something often with your hands that can damage the skin tissue due to friction. the whole thig also remembers a bit on the movement of a discus thrower athlete. for stretching: sit down in normal crossed leg now turn to one side as far as you possibly can (use your hands to grab the floor behind you to twist further) till it wont go any further or starts to just giving pain. hold that point for a bit. then turn to the other side with same effort. this makes sure that also you stretch your obliques into the most maximum point. and will induce necessary growth to adapt better when doing an exersise where you need em to turn your torso a bit. btw: they have yoghurt for dessert in prisons. its a general good protein source. but this should also depend on what food the inmates get served. also depending on the prison someone is in and general lifes situation towards overall actual wealth situation. depending on that someone can get other food served or have access to extra nutrients. but yoghurt even for poorer inmates is still a cheap enough option for the prison to provide for. what also should not be underestimated. the human body does not need so much protein to build up muscle from externally. he can also build it out of fat being stored and also from transforming carbs into protein internally. metabolism will change accordingly. may take a while though as well to make this happen. from here on its more how many kcal you intake a day. no matter what height you can assume at starting 1500kcal a day the buildup can start to be realized. from then on depending how much you build up and have more food access and better quality and such...

Its weird how people dont aknowledge that steroid use in prison is an insane (and well documented) issue. Which.......is like the main thing.... Because people bot in prison do the same workouts and get nothing....but you cant really blast gear without growing (i know people say that "tons of people are on gear and dont look like it" but eveey study that introduces steroids shows muscle increases, so its kind of hard to argue that they dont work)
