As a native German with a wife from Africa, I consider leaving Germany as well. Half of our wages are stolen by government, on everything you buy there is another 19% tax ... no freedom to build your house just as you want, no freedom of speech, nothing. No working infrastructure, no good education, no good health system, nothing. To be honest, if you have money already - living in Africa is better than in Europe. Only for the poor Europe is better, because of the better social standards. But if you have finally made it - run and never look back.

Yes many people forget the 19% tax that you pay for everything and as well the fact that the employer has to pay half of the social security charges. So considering all of this, as an employee you get about 45% as net income from your whole gross salary. To illustrate: with a gross salary of 6000€, the real expense of the employer is 7200€. Then you get a net of 3580€. Then assuming that you spend half of your net salary to buy goods, so we apply the 19% tax, it makes around 340€. To simplify the math: the true net that you own is 3200 €

I’m German and I left Germany more than 3 years ago. In my opinion many people in Germany are aggressive. Authorities are slow and arrogant. The pension system the majority of employees need to work for is a scam. The money you pay for that is used for people who currently receive pension and that is a problem because there won’t be enough young people paying for a lot of old people. All the letters and papers are really crazy and the EU-GDPR you mentioned is really inacceptable and has nothing to do with freedom. Talking about freedom: Germany is not a really free country. Everything is overregulated, the government and a part of the society believes they need to “educate” the people to their opinion and they are not tolerant to non-conformist and different opinion in general. In Germany also more than 50% are extremists, meaning >50% are voting far right or far left parties. I could continue talking about that crap of country, only I tell you that I’m happy I don’t live there anymore…

As a young person who is weighing my options and doing my research, people are leaving every where even the States. You basically have to choose what is good for you (monetarily and for peace of mind) as going solely after money can leave you in a tail spin. Please consider cost of living, job opportunities/security, child care and safety when leaving your currently locate especially as a family.

Correct, different countries have different perks. German is safe, secure, quiet pretty, has (relatively) short distances to places, social and (at least) a history which makes us sensible to discrimination and racism. Immigration might not always work or have worked great in the past (e.g. on the Turkish population), but Germans are used to working and living with other nationalities. But if you want to make it here, you have to work hard (like most Germans do), learn the language and work IN the system meaning e.g. to follow the rules and deal with the bureaucracy which is in place to be able to achieve a certain level of fairness and transparency. You will never earn as much money as in the US, but if you're daughter gets diabetes or a chronic kidney deasease, we will treat her and not let her die like it is handled in the US. Germany is a good country for immigrants who want to work here, have a certain level of education and are willing to learn German, want to live here longterm with their families and don't mind to merge their culture with the German culture.

This. To the fellow young people, if you're not coming from a wealthy family, we should be grateful to have a chance to get to somewhere through somewhere. I'm sorry but what I see is the whole world is suffering, everyone is either unhappy or escaping reality. And life is not bad at all when you have a place to live, work, study, have friends and fun.

As a native German, I can say that the majority of Germans are strange and very distant. Society is ice-cold. Most people don't even know their neighbours. Working life in Germany is very rough and the tax burden here is one of the highest in the world. About 50% of the gross wage is collected directly by the state. But that's not all: if you go shopping or fill up your car with fuel, further taxes are paid. The actual tax burden is therefore well over 50%. I would say that about 30% of your gross salary is left over. Labour and hard work no longer pay off in Germany. In addition, the highly praised social system is ailing. In addition, the weather here is bad and unstable all year round.

Calling a country xenophobic which has a non citizen population of 30% and a lot swiss with foreign family roots. The thing is in switzerland immigration policy is discussed mostly open. Some might see this as xenophobic but the reality is that with 30% foreign population people have negative experience not only positive ones. Massive rents, full public transportation during rush hour and cultural aspects that are sometimes hard to integrate into an existinh culture. But yeah people call xenophobic, hatred of foreigners. Yet it is a country with some of the highest foreigner population and the same people who call swiss xenophobic don‘t reall want to leave. Wouldn‘t it be in instant decision to leave a country if you feel hated and unwelcomed?

After living my entire life in Germany as a person with a foreign background, I can definitively say that one of the worst things about living here is the people. German is the only language in the world that has the word “Schadenfreude”, which means “taking pleasure in someone else’s misfortune.” There’s even a saying, “Schadenfreude ist die schönste Freude, denn sie kommt von Herzen,” which translates to, “Schadenfreude is the most beautiful joy because it comes from the heart.” Many Germans dislike seeing others succeed or make positive strides in life, especially when those individuals are foreigners. Success, for a foreigner in Germany, often means you’re hated. Foreigners are expected to remain second-class citizens. Those Germans who hold positions of authority often use their resources to complicate the lives of people who aspire to achieve their goals. Even those who lack positions of authority but have the means to create problems for others-especially for hardworking individuals trying to improve their situations-do so in a cynical way. The worst part is that the system enables these behaviors, revealing just how deeply flawed and sick this society truly is. Take the German education system, for example. It is arguably the most unjust educational system in the world. Many students are selected into schools that determine their future, based largely on subjective and biased judgments influenced by cultural and classist backgrounds. The 'Hauptschule', for instance, is designed to produce laborers, effectively clipping the wings of countless students' dreams and aspirations before they even begin to take flight. When you strive to succeed and work hard to progress, you can feel the negative energy from so many people actively trying to pull you down, especially if you’re a foreigner. You sense their malicious intent, and the system seems complicit in trying to crush your aspirations. Add to that the constant gossiping and judgmental attitudes, and it becomes unbearable. Germany is definitively not the ideal place for people with vision and aspirations.

As a german of mixed race i totally disagree with your opinion. It sounds that you carry a lot of negativity within yourself and just project it in the outside world. The german school system is very good because it's free of fees. If you are clever you can achieve any degree you want. Life is what you make it, in germany there are a lot of opportunities - you just have to fight for it!
@gughu-v3e
@gughu-v3e 10 күн бұрын
@@Taurus13-xl4zh As someone who’s been through the German school system, I have to disagree with your perspective. While it’s technically possible to move from Hauptschule or Realschule to Gymnasium, in reality, it’s much harder, especially for students from foreign or underprivileged backgrounds. Many capable students are discouraged by teachers or school directors, face unnecessary obstacles, or are treated unfairly. There are countless stories of students who met the requirements for Abitur or Fachabitur but were denied or faced unnecessary complications when trying to access better schools, were given unfair grades, mocked by teachers, or blocked from opportunities simply because of their background. While the system being free of fees is a good thing, that alone doesn’t guarantee fairness or equal opportunity. The early tracking system labels students as 'less able,' which damages their confidence and often traps them in limited career paths. Schools in low-income areas often lack the resources, qualified staff, and extracurricular opportunities that schools in wealthier areas have, creating a huge disadvantage. For students from underprivileged backgrounds, it’s even harder because they don’t have the same support systems or resources as others. Even for those who manage to make it to Gymnasium or university, the challenges don’t stop there. Bias from employers or teachers often favors students from 'better' schools, regardless of actual ability.

I've been living in Germany since 2010 I've never felt more alone and unwelcomed than having a child. Never thought that living in a country having children get you more hated and discrimination than ever. I've been openly insulted while walking with a friend with our children (she's white her children are biracial) a older couple walked passed us, the woman said "kindergeld lohnt sich" "kindergeld is worth it." and said to us that "schreckliche kinder" "terrible children" I know people would say it's just a one time experience. I've been verbally attacked by my neighbor and friends neighbors when visiting them who hate children. People call the police on you for having your children walking or running in your home while having no problems with letting their dogs bark all day. I've experienced so much discrimination for having a child.my child is well behaved, I raise her to be respectful and kind and to be mindful of others. My friends with children have experienced the same things. There's no empathy for children here. Don't come here if you want to have children or have children!!!! Not a child friendly country. As a mixed one grewing up in east germany in the 90s I know the pain, but as the other guy commented: try to connect to even people, they are out there, and or leave the country or the area, if you can not stand it anymore. Its no use to wait that they change, and therefore no use in standing it if it drags you down so much. This way your children hasnt to suck up all that stupid hate. Let they rot in their own hate as they deserve it. Especially in east germany the society and economy is going down and down but they want it this way. The more ASSHOLE the people behave, and the more the others accept/tolerate this behavior, the less will come and invest in the country. The own intelligent and nice people already has moved to the west, because they cannot stand their own people, and the rest is sitting in the rotten, and with pleasure speed up the rotting process. They want it this way :( otherwise something significant already would have happened.

Most people in Germany speak two or three languages: their mother tongue, German and English. The officially state language is German of course. So if you are not willing to learn the local language, you may as well go somewhere else to live. Can you imagine a German going to another country and expecting everybody there to understand our language? We actually did that in the 60s, flooding Italy and Spain as tourists, spending our money, and enjoying the sun. The same thing happened in Croatia, Turkey, and Greece later (to name just some countries). Good thing we usually left again after a few weeks. When I became a "tourist" and left Germany for the first time, my parents had made me learn at least some of other languages to be able to communicate, so Greek for Greece, English for the USA or French for France were no-brainers. Most of the immigrants to Germany these days come to stay, learn the language, use Kindergarten and schools and regularly visit parents and relatives in the countries they came from. Single international students, on the other hand, usually complain about taxes and stuff after having enjoyed the "free" study in Germany. I have no problem with that. Just leave and let us pause the discussion for ten years. Let us see what you think after some time in other places.

It is also true, that Germany needs qualified professionals and would no longer have success without them. The fact Ossi (east Germans) just want to deny. But currently, all chances have been lost. Illegal migration on one side, and unfriendly locals on another side make this society very uncomfortable for any skilled and educated newcomers. I never imagined I’d experience such hatred and malice as I have in Germany. Fortunately, I’m close to leaving, but the level of perversion here has left me stunned. My xenophobic neighbors have been harassing me at night and early morning, constantly making noise. They've even been using some device from their apartments to manipulate the temperature in mine, making it impossible to sleep. The police haven’t been able to help due to my limited German and have shown very little interest in my case, even hanging up once when I called to report it. At work, I felt a strong aversion from both colleagues and even my superiors. And there were many times when I received no response after applying for jobs. The only reason I haven’t left sooner is that I had to renew my documents, but even at the government offices, you feel the hostility from the staff, treating foreigners like garbage because they know we lack the means to defend ourselves in their country. This place has a serious empathy problem. Now I understand why they committed so many atrocities throughout history.

It's easy to say 'just leave' when you're not the one facing these challenges daily. @@RoigAbiza tbh looking at Berlin, I can see a real replacement taking place. So I am surprised that Germans (and Brits) aren't more anti-foreigner. Anyways, I don't think they're more racist than the average nation. Actually even more tolerant. I worked in China and studied in Korea. As a foreigner, I got stared at ALL the time, and I can't say it enough: all the time. Elderly were sometimes even suspicious of me. (Once I even got asked whether I'm from Uzbekistan - very random guess!). And you know what? I left, didn't finish my studies in Korea. Should I now bring up China's or Korea's past? I accepted that people are tribal and will never truly like too many outsiders in their own country. I am 100% sure when I go to anywhere on the continent of Africa, people will also be racist towards me. Should I now bring up their past? Germany allows you to work and even gives you social welfare. Try claiming that in Uganda, Mexico, Russia, or China. No chance! Most Subsaharan Africans and Arabs are very racist towards East Asians, and vice versa. Openly, and they attack each other. In Korea, a foreigner is being chased this week for causing heavy missbehaviour, and beaten up in live streams on the streets (google "Johnny Somali in Korea"). It also happened to him when he was in Israel. In Germany, no German would ever do that to a visiting foreigner!
@RoigAbiza
@RoigAbiza Ай бұрын
@@NoctLightCloud Your comment shows a complete lack of empathy. Comparing experiences in other countries does not excuse the racism many of us face here in Germany, nor does it minimize Germany's responsibility for its own history and how this still impacts society today. Just because you 'accept' xenophobic attitudes elsewhere does not mean we all have to endure mistreatment and hostility in Germany. It's not just about stares, it's about harassment, discrimination at work, and lack of support from institutions. If so many foreigners are reporting the same issues, perhaps the problem is not our supposed 'ingratitude', but the attitudes that continue to allow this behavior. It's easy to talk about the 'privilege' of receiving social benefits here in Germany without understanding the emotional and psychological toll of living under constant prejudice. Living in a country is not just about seeking better economic opportunities, it's also about the right to be treated with dignity. Stop comparing and justifying, and be more objective and empathetic to the experiences of people who, unlike you, have faced the daily hostility that many Germans downplay or deny.

Germany was a good country to work with marks, but nowadays it is difficult to save money, 30 to 40% is gone on taxes, then the living cost is quite expensive in big cities, what is left at the end of the month? Also the problem I see a lot of newcomers are getting advantage of social system and are not interested in learning German.If you do not have high qualifications and master German your chances to succeed in Germany are very low, either you will end subsidised by the German state or you will get a draining job earning less than basic salary. That's why most people leave Germany.

It’s tough in Germany but there is still a glimmer of hope if u have tough skin.. The influx of refugees didn’t also make the situation any better .. Bureaucracy impacts progress in so many areas, including the government sector.. German Economy is also on a downward spiral. Let’s hope all these economic and social factors improve to make this place one of the best places to live. That notwithstanding.. it is also not easy in the countries you compared Germany to. Each one has its pros and cons depending on what u want to achieve in life. All I can say is at the end of the day it all depends on the individual.

I've been living in Canada ( Montreal ) since july 2014, so for 10 years . Even immigrants keep coming in this country, many others leave it every year for different reasons, except the winter . The cost of living in Canada is getting higher and higher year after year and the wages barely increase. Some things i used to buy for 20 dollars in 2014 cost now the double . I'm a skilled worker. I was in Canada before Germany also, I hate it, full of bodies lying on streets because of opioids. My country is not in war, just violent, but I prefer that because I can wear a dress and not be harassed. This is no longer the case in Germany any longer. Also, here to live with dogs is too expensive and so not flexible. I have two dogs and I prefer my home country for that. Here I spend all my weekends alone also. Since then, If you don't look Caucasian, you will not have it easy here. It's gotten worse since 2015, since many Arabic immigrants moved to Germany. Of course not all Germans are this way, but it feels like it's getting more and more. Germans are fed up with people from abroad, especially if you come from a completely different culture or if you don't look like a German. Some of them are worried that Germany loses their German identity. Besides that, the German leadership seems to be out of control, when you see what burden they put on the people. Language: Language fluency or lack thereof plays into your feelings of being unwelcome. If you cannot communicate in their language, how are they able to communicate to you? Yes, many Germans do speak English but you cannot make them speak English all the time in Germany. Look at it this way, if they were to come to your country and live there for some time and not leaarn their language, how would you feel as a local? Try your best to learn the language on your own if you don't have budget. The Goethe Institut has free resources for learning German. How do I know? I am studying German on zero budget. Another way to learn German for free (sort of) is to find an employer that offer language training. My hubby went through that path and he and his colleagues are on schedule to do their B2 Prüfung in two weeks. In his experience, the Germans he has met are friendly and supportive but of course he tries his best to use German whenever he can. On the lack of support for foreigners: I live in Europe for 10 yrs and one of the things I've learned is: You have to find ways to help yourself. If you keep on waiting or relying for external help, nothing will happen to you or you cannot advance towards your goals as fast as you want. A friend of mine who lives in France joins marathons so he can improve his French. I believe there are hobby groups over there that you can join to improve your German. Or if you don't have time for it, try listening to podcasts. Bureaucracy: Or as I call it bureau-crazy, is everywhere. I realized this after having lived in 3 countries. You just have to tell yourself, "It is what it is" and be patient. And by you, I don't mean you the presenter but the public in general. Have a nice day!

3000 Euro netto - you live good in east Germany - Görlitz or Guben or Forst. Not like a King, but OK. Anything below 2500 Euro is very bad, because the monthly netto should be at least 2/3 higher than the costs for your apoartment. 833 Euro is the monthly cost of a 55m² appartment in east Germany in a concrete panel house. The average price of such an appartment in west Germany is around 1200 Euro per month, so your monthly net income must be a minimum of 3600 Euro to participate in all days life in Germany. 3600 Euro net is 6000 Euro brutto. Then the expenses for your employer are 7150 Euro approximately every month. You must make a plus of at least 7150 Euro for your company to get 3600 Euro to live normally in west Germany. Thats the reality. If you come from some african country without any special education that is highly needed, you will achive with your hands work a maximum of 1900 Euro netto. @@NG-lt5to They don't pay as much in taxes and social contributions compared to Canada and most European countries. It all depends on the goal of the individual. A guy who moved from the UK to the USA once said that if you can work for your money and expenses, choose the USA over any other country.

Thank you, David. And there is still another reason why even native Germans are leaving the country: The proximity to the Ukrain war. Many people are afraid of an escalation. They want to get out as long as it is still possible...

I love this country. its warm, nice beaches and a lot of business opportunities like a,raw diamond. all the best. god bless u❤

So true what you say about career..Germany is not an upward mobility country even for Germany and ofcourse for foreigners it is even more difficult. YOu are not expected to want to uograde but stay where you are and rely on trade unions to negotiate your income. Germans are worker bees and not entrapenurial. About the AFD , I live in the East of Germany and here the AFD is very powerfull even all my froends have voted for them even though they love ma and I am clearly a foreigner, I am a brown person so you can see it but even my blond girlfriend from the USA feels it. Germans do not like foreigners and although they let alot of foreigners in, the normal people do not like it and no matter what the government does the normal people will resist it. Also alot of foreigners were let in who just live off the Governement and have no intention of working and even if they do want to work the only jobs available if you do not speak Germans are very menial jobs that no one wants. There is alot of criminal foreigners too and they ruin the reputation for those like me who work hard and cause no problems.

Even when you speak the language you don’t get better jobs or get trained it’s all systemic racism,they want all foreigners to have those low paying jobs.

And at my workplace, there was someone who insulted me as black, and then went on to call all blacks monkeys, spread racist rumors about immigrants and minorities in general and at the same time he said syrians are somehow ok, despite me being even more german than this faschist NPD fucker, he basically wanted me to become hateful against germans, btw the arabs are no better, even worse! I cant freaking stand them anymore!
