Just to add, when some of you talk with generalizing, nobody likes being generalized in any category. Not all western women sleep around from guy to guy. That's just being hateful and ignorant to assume just because women in western countries are not required to cover up, and freely go on dates doesn't mean they are going to be sleeping with a bunch of guys. There are many women that dress for themselves in what makes them feel good without seeking a man's approval of it. While there are women that do like the attention, there's a lot that just like wearing what makes them feel good for themselves when they look in the mirror, because maybe they worked out a lot and got physically fit, and just enjoy wearing clothes they couldn't wear before or maybe it's more comfortable. There's all kinds of reasons western women don't feel the need to cover up, but it doesn't necessarily mean it has to be about men. Also, a woman can date a man, like strictly going for dinner, or a movie, and not have sex with him. It's her choice in western countries, and she doesn't need permission to date. Date does not mean sex. Sex means sex. If someone goes on a date, and has sex with that person then it's a little more than just a date. Some people love to generalize, it's sort of what they consider their permission slip they can give themselves for an excuse to justify their deep rooted hate. That's my opinion when I see people generalizing.

millions and millions of women are fleeing Saudi Arabia. So are millions of other women from many other areas or various nations that have oppression involved in creating the inequality of womens rights which has become a global epidemic which leads to early mortality and morbidity. Billions of these diverse women are even denied asylum to another country including safety. Even in American, there is a broken down legislative and political system which again, leaves minority women in a compromised position with unequal outcomes and even potential increased discriminatory actions/treatment because again, the illusionary power and rights are so imbalanced because of a stigma against all women there must be much more than words and acute acts of rebellion to make long term implications minority women need and this involves creating awareness to increase the understanding of the fundamental dynamics of what motivates and creates such acts towards women in the first place....and this is a global problem that seems to be in full view but the wrong approaches is what makes it stagnant.

Well, I don't claim to know Manal's life story, but abused children often protect their abusers and have mixed feelings about them. It's entirely possible her father WAS kind at times but abused her at other times. Picking her up from grade school but then denying her secondary or university-level education would not be unusual in Arabia--girls there are often removed from school once they reach puberty.

My father spoiled me and was so nice and close to me as child. But when I became an adult he changed. He threatened to kill me if I disobey him. I'm locked up in my parents house and can't make a step out of the house without my parents following me. He threatened me for trying to drive and work. And btw.. Picking up children from school is the parents job. Just because parents provide for their children it doesn't mean they can't be abusive or manipulative.

She had moved to a country where both happiness index and average income is higher than Saudi. Average life expectancy is also higher. They gonna love to live as women rather than as a second hand citizen in a misogynist country like Saudi. Also the whether is nice and not all desert. Those countries are some of the first to give women same freedom as men,if they have potential to be at strategic position then they gonna get it in that country even as an immigrant irrespective of religion.

Interesting developments in Saudi Arabia. They like Africans to much tribalism which does not help women in the end. Lets be real you don't get big jobs or business deal if you not from one tribe or another or have links to a tribe. Bless the women of Saudi Arabia.
