Hey man love your videos its awesome to hear about the engineering details that enthusiasts and the general public might not know about. When I was a ride op at two different B&Ms I was told by maintenance that the weight of the passenger carriages can cause wheels can develop flat spots if they sit on the rail for long periods of time instead of in the maintenance shed. Is this true and can be a variable to why some B&M coasters can have varying rattle's depending on the train. For instance I recall one of the three trains on Hulk at Islands Of Adventure being much shakier than the others. Would love to see a follow up on this topic if you get a chance.

Wow great insight. I’d love to reference this on a video for sure. Short answer yes, if you dispatch a train after it’s been sitting for a while you can hear the thuds as it exits. Typical urethan it goes a way after a bit. It one of the main reasons we don’t want trains sitting on the track static for a long period of time. Now, nylon wheels, once they get a flat spot the wheel is almost ruined. Has to be removed and machined to get rid of it.

This topic got me thinking about all the ways the new dragster is going to be a lot more trouble in its second life.

Arrows have no adjustment no elastomers so guide wheels, say I make your ride.

I went into this video thinking you were going to be talking about how old Arrow track is manufactured and eyeballed rather than using computers. Magnum is probably the best example of a bumpy steel coaster. I dunno if it has the 5 or 6 wheel assembly though. I would assume 5 since it originally only had upstop pads rather than wheels (what a blunder that was).

I can’t adult older construction methods. Where the manufacture would build track and sometimes it was wrong and had to be changed. Unheard of these days but normal 50 years ago.

What is the best propulsion method on a roller coaster. I've seen roller coasters that use magnetic fields to shoot your riders out of the gate and others are using some type of other propulsion. Which one is the best.
