It appears Zeus at Mt Olympus derailed in the station. This dent look like the first time this has happened. lets see gif we can figure out why.
Zeus was made by CCI. Custom coaster international. I accidentally said GCI in the beginning. This is definitely not correct. Great coasters International had NOTHING to do with this in any way. My apologies
Thanks to Amusement Hunter Photography for letting me use their clip of the work happening.

I’ve been to Mount Olympus. I’ve seen their mechanic work on coasters. This isn’t the least bit shocking. Wisconsin has very lax amusement ride laws and the park takes full advantage of that. I have 3 stories. In 2020 I decided to take a road trip there because that park was going to be the first in the country to reopen after the strictest COVID restrictions ended. I was going to be one of a handful of people riding coasters that day. What I saw from the ride crew and the mechanic on Hades 360 was absolutely chilling. 1) This was the morning and I was in the station for some of the first runs of the day. I witnessed a ride op check a restraint and go back to it to pull and extra couple of times and then go to the phone and call someone. They dispatched the train with a rider in that seat. This is a small park so the mechanic actually made it to the ride before the train was dispatched again. They seated a new rider in that seat and nearly dispatched again. I watched the mechanic cross the track without signaling and requesting hands off. They open the restraints. Then he lays down on his back and takes a wrench and starts tightening a bolt on the lap bar. Yes. The ride op seems to have noticed the bar was loose and loose enough to call maintenance AND DISPATCHED ANYWAY. Then they just closed the bar and sent the train off with the rider in it without so much as another restraint check pull. 2) Same ride. Hades 360. Later in the day they started running the coaster with one row empty and the same mechanic shows up while I’m waiting for the ride again. Don’t ask me why I trusted them with my life more times. Anyways. They dispatch the single train and this guy hops down ON TO THE TRACK while the ride is running with people on it. He takes a brush and compressed air and tries to clean up one of the contact points that operate that row of seats. After an attempt or two he whips out some electrical tape and just tapes it down. They don’t reopen the row but I suppose this cleared a code that was still firing even with the row blanked out. Absolute insanity trusting the braking system to stop the train if it returned while he was on the track. 3) Cyclops this time. They were literally running the coaster with passengers on it with at least 3 rows on two cars half built. Two😮 of them the lapbars and seats were entirely missing. The third row only the cushions were missing. But they were running this thing anyway in a half constructed state. That trip was eye opening.

I went to Mount Olympus for the first (and only time) in June. I saw kids jump across the track both in front of and behind a train in the station while an employee watched and didn’t care, I had to get moved along with the person next to me one row back on Hades 360 for what I can only assume were valleying concerns…despite the fact that both of us weren’t larger people. The coasters hurt like all hell too, I’ve never been in so much pain after a ride as I was on Hades. All the people who got off the same train as me all agreed we felt like we had been punched in the chest. The layouts are awesome but my god the maintenance, lack of safety standards, and the fact that they all badly need to be retracked makes me never ever want to go back. The whole place just felt like a giant ripoff, and frankly I felt icky just being there. Never again.

Hades before the 360 conversion actually did valley a lot. When cold and empty the PTC trains struggled to get up out of the tunnel and over the airtime hill that is where the roll is now. With the airtime hill replaced with a roll and the Timberliners I don’t think it has valleyed since. But they still haven’t changed their operating procedures requiring a nearly full train.

I have never once had a trip to this park without witnessing shocking and wild things. I've seen terrible go kart crashes due to unsafe track conditions, ribbon boards dangling by a single nail over active go kart tracks, employees walking on active coaster tracks, maintenance literally hammering boards back onto the structure of active coaster structures, guests walking into active coaster tracks, and more. This does not surprise me to see, at all. I will say that I've seen PTC trains (Ryan, I know you are more familiar with Millennium Flyers) commonly come into the brakes where the lead car will tip forward and ride the rear upstops. Mean Streak did this all the time, and when the brake would release the rear of the car would drop an inch or so back down onto the road wheels. Zeus does this as well, and as you can see, is capable of getting out from under the rails due to an unmaintained gauge. I understand that this is an area of the ride where the track sees less maintenance as you explained, but one cannot help but fear how well the gauge is maintained throughout the ride and the other 3 woodies in the park. I just cannot fathom the lack of standards in this park. It's a miracle nobody has died from a coaster catastrophe here. I do not trust them.

Given the number of stories I'm reading in this comments-section ALONE (not to mention other videos/accounts I've seen/heard), I find it absolutely amazing that nobody has gotten seriously injured or has died at this park! I even have my own story, haha! I visited the park on Memorial Day weekend this year, and got a free 2nd-cycle on Cyclops after the train blew past the station breaks and stopped with part of the train past the station. "Do y'all want to go again?", the ride op immediately asked. We all agreed, and got a free 2nd ride. Mind you, this was right after the ride was down for about 10 minutes while the ops were literally hitting the side of the train with a hammer to fix a restraint problem! 😅🤣 Crazy maintenance protocols at this park!

I don't know if you saw the series of photos from the same poster that showed the track damage that was caused by this incident or not. It's on their facebook page, but I assume they posted to Instagram as well. You can see some pretty serious marks to the metal running surface on the inside of the track (the metal rail that the guide wheels contact, I don't know the proper name for that component lol). If I interpreted the photos correctly, It looked like the car was already out of position before entering and stopping in the station after seeing where the scrape marks started. As far as the brakes go, the three CCI coasters at this park all feature fully manual braking (or at least they did when I visited). It's actually pretty common to hear about Zeus or Cyclops blowing through the final brake run and overshooting the station. I've seen some people mention that this is often caused by the operators releasing the final brake run before the train has fully stopped, giving it a bit too much speed as it approaches the station. I can't personally verify this, but it makes sense... at least by Mt. Olympus's standards. At least you get a free re-ride out of it since they typically send the train around again to try and park the train properly the second time. And speaking of this park, as much as I hate to say it, this park simply does not care about maintenance or safety. I saw so many things happen at this park within just a few hours of visiting that I had never seen before. That mechanic jumping in front of the stuck Zeus train is pretty tame in comparison. For example, at Cyclops, they were having an issue with one of the lap bars. A rider said something about it partially opening during the ride. Mechanics came over, closed the lap bar all the way, gave it one quick tug, said it was fine, and then they reopened the ride. They didn't even close off that seat. I also saw mechanics working on one of the brakes in the final brake run of Hades 360 while the ride was running around the course with a train full of guests. And when I say he was working on it, he wasn't off to the side working on any of the pneumatics or under the track. He was on top of the track. I also saw several ride ops sitting on the track at several of the coasters while waiting on the train to return to the station. Also, I can't remember wether it was cyclops or zeus, but several cars flooring were completely rusted / rotted out leaving holes in the flooring. One of the cars had a hole so big that during my visit, a child didn't watch where he was stepping ( shouldn't really need to anyways), and had his foot fall completely through the hole. I had a friend visit one or two years ago and said that the hole was STILL THERE... If this park can't be bothered to fix something as simple as that, can we really trust them to maintain more critical components of the ride?

Ryan, for the dip into the station I’ve noticed that CCI would do this on coasters that are built to only run one train. There’s no block system whatsoever. Mt Olympus is notoriously slack with their coaster maintenance. Both Zeus and hades 360 are designed with final brake run uphill of the station. Trains will coast down into the station brakes and stop. Sometimes there's a bit too much speed and if you're sitting in the front car you can feel it jump. It's too bad they're poorly maintained. Hades 360 could be one of the best woodies in the world. It's wild, but unfortunately needs a better maintenance program.

I went to this park a couple years ago, no desire to go back until ownership changes. I heard ride ops were lax with restraint checks, so on Hades 360 I intentionally put the lapbar at the minimum distance for the attached seatbelt, leaving about 6 inches between my body and the restraint. She only pulled on the restraint. On a ride known for airtime and an inversion, I could easily fit both fists on top of each between my body and the restraint. I knew to pull it down more after she checked it, but would non-enthusiast guests know to do that? Speaking of Hades, how does a ride prone to valleying if the train isn’t fully loaded test in the morning? I saw no water dummies in or around the station, so I wondered “Do they even test cycle it before opening it?” Not a question that should ever be asked. Three of their wood coasters were being operated by one person at each, so restraint checks (stepping down on the track behind the train to cross) and dispatches were being done by one person. One of the go-kart ops needed to move move a kart out of the station and out of the way for repairs, so he sat one side of the kart with one foot on the gas and the other on the metal bumper frame. The one maintenance guy I saw pulled to a broken down coaster on a gator and rather than taking the stairs to get to the station, he climbs up the ride structure about 10ft in front of the station to get there. I’m surprised more people don’t get hurt here, because there have been injuries.

Considering this happened at Mt. Olympus, this does not surprise me in the least. I was there a couple of years after Hades opened (right after they had put the new trains on it) and I was shocked at how different this park was to all others I had visited. First thing I noticed was there was no fencing around most of the coasters, as there always is everywhere else. Considering that park guests have been killed while retrieving lost items at other parks (after scaling fences) the lack of fencing seemed very unsafe. The whole park just had a lackadaisical feel about it. Then my friend and I were in for a real treat when we went to ride Hades. As we got onto the platform we noticed that one of the restraints didn't want to open in one row. The ride ops were pushing it down and pulling up to try to get it to release, and sometimes that worked. Apparently someone had called for maintenance, and soon a mechanic showed up. What he did next was unbelievable. Once the train (loaded with riders) left the station, he jumped down onto the tracks and sprayed what looked like a can of WD-40 onto something. He kept looking over his shoulder, and when the train was getting close, he jumped back up onto the platform. He did this over at least five ride cycles, checking the problem restraint each time the train came back into the station. That was downright scary to watch... I am no expert on this kind of maintenance work, but I would think that there would be some regulations with regards to shutting down moving machinery before working on it. My husband is mechanic who works on industrial machinery in factories and I told him about what I saw. He said what that guy did would be the last thing you'd do if you want to live to a ripe old age! As for the rest of Mt. Olympus, the other coasters were extremely rough. Hades was decent at that time, and I think we did ride it twice. I just remember thinking "OK, I got the ride credits, but this is the last time I'm going to set foot in this park!"

I had to laugh when you said you'd be worried about the delicate restraint assemblies cranking down there with the bars. I was at this park 2 years ago on the last weekend of the season so it was not busy, and someone's restraint got locked down. They cycled the ride 9 times to let others keep getting rides in with him staying in his seat until the mechanics came and finally released it. How? By cranking on the release mechanism against the station platform with a crowbar just like he was doing in the begging of this video 😅 the entire station platform shook 😬

There is ZERO excuse for crap like this happening in ANY park. I dont care how many excuses people might try to give, this is unfathomable to me. I've been to tons of parks around the U.S. and never seen or heard anything like what Mt Olympus does in thier maintenance depts. I love coasters, love Ryan's explinations, and consider myself an enthusiast. But over the years of hearing about this park, you couldn't pay me enough to ride anything in it. Just wow. On the funny side, you made me laugh when the idiot stepped on the tracks in front of the train. I think most of us watching this were aghast when the guy did that. I expect a VERY bad accident or death to occur in the place eventually. And that's just sad and inexcusable.

Based on my own observations and what others have said they’ve seen nothing has changed and there’s little reason to believe anything will change. Basically the only maintenance they do is what is necessary to make a train complete a course and that lap bars are facially operable. Their ride training appears to be nearly nonexistent and they have no safety protocols for how to approach and cross the track on the coasters. It’s absolutely unbelievable their kill count is as low as it is.
