I generally avoid pvp due to a combination of low end hardware, excessive ping, and general lack of skill. That said, I also choose to salvage abandoned player ships at salvage yards, bunkers, orbital markers, stations, and the like. I don't mind getting shot at in those circumstances, I've chosen to put myself in harms way after all. The issue arises when players use the catch-all of "pIrAcY" as an excuse for circumventing in-game restrictions to dog on other players and ruin someone else's fun. (NOT accusing Voidy of this btw) Of course, the inverse of this are those players who want the space sim MMO they bought to play like a single player comfort game, completely devoid of risk or challenge. They cry wolf, mislabeling others as "griefer," muddying the waters to the detriment of this discussion tldr: If I put myself in a bad spot through carelessness or greed, it's not griefing when I end up on a slab. If I end up on that slab because someone cheeses the system just to eff with folks, then that's a problem in my book

Well, I'm a peaceful industrial pilot and thus potentially on the other side of this equation. I, too, invested time to grind for a Reclaimer and I continue to invest time (my precious little free time after work) to fill it's cargo holds. And like probably everyone else who works hard, I don't like being robbed. However, we're playing a game here and as long as everyone plays by it's rules, let us play, after all, noone gets really hurt (except for a little hit in the pride, perhaps). The only thing I can't stand are players who just ROFL-stomp others for lulz, but getting held up by an organised pirate gang like in this video is a whole different thing. Is it annoying? Of course. Will I kick and scream and fight back? Of course, I mean these guys probably prefer a little challenge in what they do, too. And of course they're going to win but that's no reason to make it easy for them. As long as they don't just shoot me down and leave, but put in the work to actually transfer the cargo and in the end everyone involved can say they had an exciting experience, I don't _really_ mind getting waylaid once in a while (I don't need that every evening, of course).

Yeah, I think restraint is necessary. If we're going to say real life has pirates, we should also acknowledge that those pirates make calculated decisions.... Well the successful ones.

We absolutely enjoy a challenge and are very quick to congratulate others on fighting back, negotiating etc. I personally find it important to let people know that piracy is a valid gameloop, with no one size fits all rulset. Thank you for your opinion.
