Been waiting for this video.Had the thorn for almost a year.One of my favorite razors.The only downside of the twig or thorn is if it breaks down it’s not easy to take apart.I seen Heiko shaves break one down and it was complex.I do put some mineral oil in the bottom and turn back and forth a couple of times every three shaves to keep it in shape.I also keep it in the stand.Love your videos.Keep up the good work.John B F

Well, I went for the Thorn. After a few weeks of using it, I am impressed. With their blades, I only get 2 shaves that feel great and with Feather blades I get about 4. Impressed enough with it, I bought a 2nd one for my Dopp kit and traveling. I also recently restored a 1924 era Gillette open comb double edge that was in my father's belongings. Heck of a shave with a Derby Extra blade. I wasn't comfortable with a Feather blade in it, until I saw how it shaved.

I'm glad Parker listened to the feedback surrounding how hard it was to load a blade into the solo edge and found a way to place a magnet into the design. Honestly makes me wish I would have waited before I bought mine. Still think the solo edge wouldn't have landed in the retirement drawer immediately. It just tore my face up with my most forgiving blade. The Leaf Twig now has residence in my shave cabinet. I have yet to get a bad shave out of it. I get better shaves with it than razors that cost me 150+ dollars (and I'm trying to like the one I got this week...but after 2 shaves I'm ready to throw it right in the trash). It's funny, the more razors I buy the more I realize I might already have what works for me and stop buying. The 3 razors that work best for me all cost between 50-100 bucks.

Thanks for the video. I have only one shave so far on the Parker v1. Noticed there is a lot of blade feel (may have been just me) and the channels right below the blade get full rather quickly. That is just the first blush. Plan on trying it out during the month of April. At the moment like my Leaf Twig but you are right on the lock up. I don't know what voodoo they do inside that thing to get it to act that way (Twig). Also is it just me or does it feel like the knob should turn the other way. Don't know why but that feel counter intuitive to me for some reason. Glad Parker listened and added the magnet I don't really have an issue without the magnet but that is only because you told me what to expect. Thanks once again for this comparison.

I'm still hoping you can test out a single edge razor using thicker Feather Artist Club blades which are 'thicker, sharper and more rigid than a double-edge blade' with some reviewers saying: 'They cut like butter', 'I get the best shave of any blade out there (alongside feather DE)', 'I believe that they are sharper than any DE blade I've tried. At the same time, they are not terribly unkind to your skin', 'I literally don’t want to use any of my double edge razors again after using these!' Admittedly, I have belabored (and hyped) this issue with numerous comments in your past videos, but listening to your first passes with these single edge razors just bring up painful shaving memories...😁 If need be, I'd come to Bath Township to make it happen.
@OhioShaves9 ай бұрын
Already tested them and it's not what it's cracked out to be for me. I'm sticking with standard double edge razor blades. No reason to buy proprietary blades.
@borbetomagus9 ай бұрын
@@OhioShaves Sorry it didn't work out for you. Kai and Schick also make Artist Club blades. It's too bad such a test didn't merit a video. I'd like to have seen the SE razor and blades you tried. Glad the Leaf Thorn works well for you.
@agiugabenson72687 ай бұрын
I wish the Thorn had a last quarter turn to lock the head. Cut myself bad when it loosened whilst shaving.

@@OhioShaves Don't know if my last reply went through.. If you can, can you send me a short note on the Proof vs Thorn after you review in case I miss the review? The price of the Thorn with case and stand is close to the price of the Proof.

Nah. I'll get a thorn. I've got the Twig. Won't shave me without taking it apart and cleaning it twice. Thorn probably will.

I have been really considering the leaf twig. I've gotten better with the DE safety razor, but the leaf twig just seems like it's more efficient since I have to shave every day, and I'm so used to cartridge razors. Also, the angle looks like it's basically given to you with the leaf. Looks effortless. A little update on the products I've gotten for shaving are Brickell Aftershave and Astra blades. #Parkersoloedge

I agree the Twig/Thorn Razosr is so easy to make the switch with. It's not intimidating and it's a way better shave. Thanks for sharing

I'm not a fan of SE Razors. I actually traded my Leaf Twig away for a Henson AL-13 ++ I never liked head shaving with it. The handle and the angle always bothered me. BTW That soap sounds exactly like Cella.

#parkersoloedge While the Parker did well, the head IMO could be slimmer, wish Leaf would bring back the Elite thorn, they made a limited amount of stainless steel versions, I believe they were $250. Congratulations Bryan!

Hm I've been eyeing this one for a bit, so it would be pretty cool to win one hahaha! After watching your Timeless Slant Razor video a couple of weeks ago, I just had to order one. I can confirm the things you were saying David. The timeless slant is amazingly smooth AND efficient. A goldilocks razor for sure! The fit and finish, American made, and price point just tip it over the edge for me. Thanks so much for all you do man, and I would have never known about this razor if it wasn't for your video. #parkersoloedge
