Why aren’t cushion foundations a thing here ? | testing moonshot and pony effect cushion foundations

I think the reason why cushions aren't a thing in Western beauty is because Westerners prefer more product for their buck. Cushion foundations don't have as much product as a bottle of foundation or tinted moisturizer. So therefore cushions tend to be more expensive per use compared to liquid and powder makeup.The other cons I heard are the lack of shade range which the West is very big on shade diversity and there's the question about how hygienic cushions really are. I still love my cushion foundations and will keep using them as a Chinese-American, but I do use foundation for night time looks or when I need my base to be long wearing without touch-up.

Omg !! Those are great reasons.. those didn’t even cross my mind! I would definitely agree the bang for the buck thing, and hygiene !! I feel like if a brand here COULD do an inclusive shade range that would be really interesting to see!! Eep thank you for your input 🤍

@@theyunaverse I agree, more brands should definitely expand their shade range especially if they're trying to appeal to an international market! I think cushion foundations can be a bit more hygienic if you have replacement cushion sponges and clean them with soap after every use. There are hygienic compact designs like the VDL metal cushion foundation or Jung Saem Mool star-cealer foundation which can dispense product with little waste and the surface can be wiped clean.

I remember Loreal used to have a cushion foundation which I really enjoyed for quick on the go applications. But I remember it running out super fast each time and for a drugstore product being $17ish and a college student at the time I though it was not worth it T.T Really enjoyed this video!! Dr. Gio Seoul has a cushion foundation that is a black-owned company in Korea, which is excellent for black people living in Korea to try Kbeauty, and they are trying to branch out.

For years I could only wear Korean base makeup, because I’m that pale. I prefer the cushions over western fountain.

I prefer tinted moisturizer over cushion. I personally found cushions didn't sit well on my skin, streaky, and budged to the slightest touch. (I tried 3 diff brands) The em cosmetics cushion is the first one in a while I've actually been interested to try. How is it when you apply powder/ eyeshadow over it? Does it bunch up into your creases? I always end up with a weird white line on my eyelids and finelines under my eyes.

Oooh really?? Honestly I could see that happening!! I try so hard not to touch my face during the day LOL the EM cosmetics is great! I usually don’t put powder cuz I’m dry but during the warmer months I’ll p it it in my tzone and it absorbs well! It hasn’t bunched up but also I don’t apply a very thick layer - it’s very thin!! But I totalyyyy know what you mean .. I usually lightly pay it around my eyes so there’s not much there to begin with!

Good to know! Aaah I'm so on the fence whether to get it. If I don't powder my eye area my eyeliner transfers to the tops of my eyelids. Grr. #hoodedeyeproblems

I’m brown and I was able to find a color that matched me in the Clío kill cover glow cushion. I’m shade sand and I love it!! I love K-Beauty and J-Beauty.

I remember the L'Oréal Glow cushion or something. It was around 2016. I loved it and my skin looked *flawless* in it. It was lovely. But it did run out quick and was expensive for drugstore brand. After a bit I could only find it in some stores then it disappeared except for online. They had pretty good shades as far as semi fair to medium tones. I don't remember if they had dark skin tones or not.

I have the pony effect glow one that she said had fragrance. It smells really nice but I think it is the puff that is fragranced not the foundation. I checked if the foundation itself had a smell when I applied it with a different puff and somehow there wasn't.

the others have a SLIGHT smell, but the pony effect glow is definitely the one that smells the strongest for sure

Hello!! Ahhh it’s not super mask proof since it has more of a dewy finish, but that’s kind of the expectation I have with any dewy foundation 🙈

I really like alot of k beauty products and I love the cushion foundation and bb sunscreens. Lanige did sell them on the US sephora website a few years back but not anymore. It was the Hyrda Radiance BB Cushion. Very cute and portable. I bought on in the shade cinnamon and it was actually darker than my skin tone as a latina surpringly so I only ended up using it a bit in the summer. I recently have been looking at the brand laka and figured out the shade for their cushion foundation and I'm very hopeful for it. They have darker skin tones which I have had a bit of trouble with more tan like skin all year around. Just a tip! If you have any tips lmk of other cushion foundations :)

@@theyunaverse update I just tried the cushion for the first time today its light weight and fairly high coverage. As they suggested on their website use only a little bit like I didn't even put have the cushion and lightly pressed and it's alot of product which is good for longevity purposes. I ended up putting more than needed haha. It has a semi matte finish but it's soft on my skin.

Wet n wild had such a good cushion foundation! But they just discontinued it bc of their new full coverage foundation:( I’m now on the hunt for a good cushion foundation, that won’t make me oily but neither flaky.
