I own four Fujicrons and this is my favorite by far. It is sharp as any lens you can get. Stopped down to f4 it is utterly phenomenal. At f2 it is still very sharp and the bokeh is actually good. The small size balances nicely on my x-t30. I stopped traveling with the kit lens and now travel only with the 50mm f2 and the 16mm f2.8. I find that with these two lenses I can cover most needs by cropping or stitching. Thanks for the review.

Underrated len. Small, light, great microcontrast and fast autofocus. 23mm/2 and 50mm/2 can cover like 80% of normal shooting scenario.

This lens is on my camera 80% of the time. Beautiful lens. People are always surprised by the quality of the images when they see them. I chose this over the XF50mm F1 and XF56mm F1.2. For event photography, I'm often shooting with flash and stopped down to F4 in order to get multiple people in focus. Same with portraits. For headshots, F2.8 is a sweet spot for detail and background blur. I get everything I need from the XF50mm F2. Is low light challenging at F2? Sure, but in low light, I usually have a speedlight handy. Love this lens. Glad you're enjoying too!

i find this more enjoyable to use than the 56mm! and if you have this lens paired with an X camera with ibis low light isnt that bad! xD

Absolutely fantastic video review 👌📸 totally agree on every point !!! The 50mm f2 is the mini 90mm the compactness , sharpness & contrast carnt be beat on the 50mm f2 , it’s the most underrated Fujifilm lens which has the same pop as the 90mm f2, when I’m shooting weddings or events with this lens people don’t take it seriously until they are blown away by the images they receive…. Booom 👌📸🤩

I own both the 50 and 56 and rarely use the 56 for everyday. Everyday I leave an XS10 + 23f2 and XT3 + 50f2 on a shelf to grab and I’m good! Indoors the focal length of 50 is also easier to manage than 56 IMO. Happy holidays!

I'm going that way too. I like the compactness of the X-T3 and the Fujicrons for almost all of my work as of late. I tend to gravitate to smaller set-ups. I'll likely sell off my old f/1.2 and get the smaller 50mm.

I own the 50mm f2, and really like it. I owned the 56mm for a couple of years, but grew to dislike it, because of the slow focus and very loose aperture ring (too easily moved while shooting). I also own the 35mm f2, and probably like it a little better. I owned a Viltrox 56mm for a while, and really liked it. But since I seldom shoot wide open, I sold it, and the Fujinon 50mm f2 remains my prime for that focal length.

I have both the 56mm APD and the 50mm f1 and still I want this f2 lens. I want it cause its small and light and has weather sealing, which my 56 doesn't. The 50 f1 does, but that one is heavy. Sometimes I just want something tiny, you know?

Great video and review, well done! I agree with your description about this lens, mostly all praises. :) It's my favorite Fuji lens, I developed a liking for this lens and also the 30mm Macro which I initially thought to have bought for doing exclusively macro shots (obviously), but the 30mm turned out to be maybe an even better street photography lens and so I often take my 50mm and 30mm , they combine perfectly, I can shoot with those 2 focal ranges most of the shots I want, and again the 50mm is overall a gem of a lens. And the pocket size of the lens is just so practical!!!

@@Iamtongue Indeed, I think people see the price of it and automatically assume it's more of a budget lens (which it is if you look at the cost), but it's no budget lens at all if you look at what it is capable of, and the built quality of it! For instance, I always favor lens with WR, and the general experience tells us that Fujifilm lenses with WR are truly great under wet conditions, such as this one.

50 f2 is the first lens I bought, sold lots, still have it. :) The hood mount is too fragile however, I have a cheap steel screw on hood ordered. And I CANNOT stand it when people call these FujiCRON. It's Fujinon, isn't it good enough to stand on it's own instead of trying to make it something it never was? These are their own legend.

@W Lerazan I don't like cussing personally but sometimes i do. I think people should be allowed to use the language/words that comes natural to them, so people feel free to express the way the want to. 🙏 But if you want to teach others to use a more clean language, maybe you can teach your relatives or such. That is my opinion and why I write it is because I think there is enough PK (political correctness) in the world/society and soon we cannot speak at all or someone will get offended. This creator puts alot of work and effort into making these videos for us to watch. Why comment on the words he speaks? Why not just leave it be? I don't think your personal relationship to God or your connection will be influenced by what others say because it is unique to you and its between you and God and none else.
