Why aren't there more middle aged female vloggers on Youtube?

I'm 50 and having been vlogging for about 9 years and there definitely aren't many of us around. I'm always trying to find more - which is how I found this video. Most of the 50+ youtubers seem to be into makeup, skin care or fashion. I just want to see more day to day stuff.

Yeah I am just about to start my over 50s vlog channel. I'm doing a youtube course and they ask us to do an industry audit. Ie look for other similar channels and see if there is a market there for the channel and honestly, they are so hard to find. I'm wondering if there is any interest at all. I really don't want to do fashion, beauty etc. I want to document the chaos that is being over 50 and the struggle that comes with it (all with a laugh mind you). Sigh. I feel like I might be screaming into the void.

I’m 45 and have discovered vlogging. It’s so fun. I’m new, but you’re right: three years after you made this video, it’s not so easy to find us where it doesn’t talk about the topics you mentioned. I don’t care about makeup, I don’t care about looking like I’m 20, I don’t need to know how to dress…whatever. But I DO love making more cinematic-like videos tackling the issues that arise for the middle-aged-age group. Appreciate your video! 😊

You can do it! I think young people haven’t made as many mistakes and are fearless. Older people, especially women, should forgive themselves for trying new things. It’s the only way to stay in the game! 🤠❤️

Love your humour! This was a riot to watch🤣 It’s all so true though. I swear, if I do anymore searches on KZbin and find one more make up tutorial to ‘bring you back from the crypt keeper look’, or, how to get rid of the menopause ‘paunch’, I will lose control. I turn 62 today. It was to be my first day of recording for KZbin. It was in a moment of, “What do I think I’m doing? Apparently I’m too old (for KZbin anyway), and who the heck would watch me and listen to what I have to say?”. Well, I searched one more time. And I am so glad I did. I found you. I love your attitude and your thoughts about these ‘other’ channels mirrors my own thoughts. Now I sit here paralyzed by the ‘what if’s’ and the ‘who would watch’ notions swimming around in my already full brain pool.😂 Gaaaahhhhh! Btw, I love being this age. It’s a very freeing time in life.

So glad to find this - 42 and looking for middle aged women bloggers who aren’t all about decluttering or motherhood content (I’m childless not by choice). Not all middle aged women have children! I want to hear experience, lifestyle stuff, commentary, things to learn about this phase of my life… the young ones are sweet and earnest but haven’t been marinaded and battered about by life yet to give them a depth of flavour 😂

I'm looking for us too! I'm 40 and childfree by choice, just starting my channel and in experiment mode. I like car camping, running, hiking, and being creative. So far 80% of my subscribers are men 55+. Lol Not sure what to do with that, but guess I'll give em what they came for? 😅😂

3 years later and this video is still popping up. Kudos to you my fellow midlife wrangler! When I started my blog and KZbin channel I did some research like you into "midlife" and "middle age". As I typed in the search bar "middle age..." the next word was always CRISIS. I'm not having a crisis, I'm just looking for women my age to share experiences with. I'm glad I found this post because I'm subscribing to any ladies here in the comments that still have active YT channels. I'm on the hunt for my PEEPS! Happy Trails!

We started our Channel about a month ago and we are in our mid-fifties. We are wanting to retire in Italy and discovered that it's not easy to find the information you need out there, so we knew we weren't the only ones. We are having a great time, but it is hard work. I love the fact that we started our channel later in life. I love your content by the way. We have the same sarcastic attitude and I'm here for it. Thank you for sharing.

I really just started becoming active in the online social realm when I was 46 and began social selling when I was 47. Am in the process of reinventing myself yet again, and have been looking for other women in middle age who are wanting to redefine what middle age looks like and what their lives can be in the second half. Not very many of us out there right now. I subscribed to this, and I can't wait to see what other fun stuff you're sharing. I feel like I'm in my prime, not ready for my rocking chair and walker. I intend to screech across that finish line with some enthusiasm when the time comes.

@@kitchenwrangler :) I'm actually 58 and gave birth at 49 so have a 9 year old. LOL But as an actor if I said that out loud on my own channel my manager and agent would just die. The entertainment industry is a whole weird beast. They are not even allowed to ask us. So happy to find you!

Woman need to be celebrated more… as a man in his late 50s I really enjoy watching lady bloggers… not for the obvious reason but just love to see women expressing themselves and sharing what they are passionate about.

Hell yeah!! I'm about to start a channel for my business but my quiet passion is the 8 mos a year that I spend working in my online business all over the world. I keep thinking about a travel vlog and then want to throw up thinking about a wistful backwards looking shot in my bikini in Bali! Thank you for the inspiration!! The mindset of a 50+ vlogger is of an "early adopter". The mindset of a 30 year old vlogger is "late majority". And yes, to another point made in your comments, all these 20/30 somethings will be 50 soon enough and then this will be mainstream...so we all need to get ahead of the curve! PS. I also love to cook so I'll be tuning in.

Oh my gosh! I am SO glad that I stumbled across your video, I had such a good laugh - you're a natural!! I'm hooked if someone can make me laugh!! I'm 44 and just started my youtube channel (I've had one for a few months but just recently starting putting effort into it). It's definitely daunting because I work hard on my videos to get 2 views and no subscribers. BUT, I know that will come in time! Thank you for this video!!

You are hilarious. I just deleted my old channel that had 1000k subscribers because it was something my grandkids and I were doing for fun during the pandemic, and really, how long can somebody keep making videos about The Mayflower and stay sane? So then I started looking at what women my age are doing. I tried typing Women 60+ and came across a bunch of not quite R rated thumbnails. Wow. OK. Then I found this, and you just crack me up. I see this is a couple of years old. Hope you are still active. Off now to check.
