When I graduated high school, I went in 50/50 with my parents on a new car for college. From the day I got my license, I'd always wanted to get a pickup truck. My dad was the sales manager at a dealership and because I took my senior year less than seriously, he was being cheeky and brought home a very gently used 05 Dodge Caravan with 5,000 miles on the clock one day and said that would be the vehicle I would get. I drove it around and actually really liked it; it had a leather interior, stow n go seats, power doors and liftgate... all the trimmings. He asked me to drive him back to the dealership so he could get his car so I did and there sat an 04 Nissan Frontier extended cab, also with very low mileage. It was what I'd wanted all along. It was that funky teal color, it had the V6, Desert Runner package... Beautiful truck. That night, I debated whether I wanted the truck or the van. I decided to counter-troll my dad and told him I wanted the van. My parents were shocked. So, I got it and drove it for the next few years of college. It was the most damned fun of any vehicle I ever owned! It was perfect for the time. I had a 16-hour drive to school and it was super smooth and comfortable for the trip. I would cram in 10 friends at a time and go out on adventures. One night I went camping and a gigantic storm blew in, and we had a leaky tent. Every time the wind blew, the tent would double over and soak me, so I said screw this and folded down all the seats in the back and slept warm and dry in the van. Did I mention I also had a MASSIVE stereo? It was loud enough to scare old women. It was the perfect vehicle for the time. I only ended up selling it because gas crept over $4 a gallon at the time and it got 16mpg. As a broke college student, it was constantly on E. I replaced it with a Focus, but I sure do miss that van. People thought I was weird for picking that over a truck, but I have no regrets. Ten years have passed and I have a kiddo of my own now. With how nice vans are nowadays, it makes me consider getting another one. And I would happily, shamelessly rock another one.

A lot of people says go for the sienna for reliability the caravan looks great doesn’t look like a van but reliability idk because it’s a dodge. Anyway I’m usually in the car myself and sometimes have more people in rarely. I just don’t know to get a van since it’s soccer mom cars as people say it just get a suv lol

Bought a Sienna three weeks ago to replace a Crossover... best decision ever. The crossover was a stupid decision on our part and the mini-van is much more practical for day to day use for our family of five. The Sienna by far is an amazing vehicle for people with families looking to be practical. Plus, Toyota safety sense is awesome. IMO, SUVs these days don't look much more different than a van lol... nothing cool about them as the stigma is catching up as family vehicles. Get a van if you want something functional. If you want to look cool, wast your money, then get your SUV or crossover... Fuel economy is about 24 MPG combined from our experience so far for city and highway on the front wheel drive only model. These vans have a reputation of lasting a long time... pick your poison, but vanity isn't mine. I'll stick to functionality for something that my family and I have to spend a significant amount of time in.

I have a 2005 Sienna AWD that I use primarily as my work vehicle. I’m a woodworker and I constantly (and easily!) haul 4x8 sheets of plywood stacked flat with no issues or headache. More often than not I have people stopping and watching me slide sheet after sheet of 3/4 ply into my van at the hardware stores. I also deliver very large pieces of heavy furniture that I make for my clients. Due to its lower-than-a-truck ride height, it’s really nice sliding big pieces in and out. On the weekends we take it camping and comfortably sleep in it with a queen sized blow-up mattress, pop the seats back in and haul a load of friends around on wine tasting excursions and pub crawls. I even pack it full of construction debris to haul to the dump. Considering I live in WA State where we get our fare share of rain, I never have to worry about my materials getting wet or cold. Now, put ALL of these together along with 24 mpg, cruise control, AWD, a really nice factory sound system, a ton of creature comfort‘s, a crazy tight turning radius (better than my wife’s compact sedan) and a very comfortable ride quality, I have yet to feel the need for a full-size, gas sucking, thief bate, stripped model commercial van. Not to say there isn’t a need for those types of rigs, but my MANivan has given me all I need and then some 👍🏻

Have you had any trouble with the loads? The payload is only 1100lbs. I replaced my 2014s rear shocks at 60,000 miles because I noticed it floating when we had 4 adults, 2 kids and luggage in it. I calculated it up (well, I estimated peoples weights) but I figured we were very close to max load. Not a vehicle you can pack with 7-8 adults.

I bought a 2019 Sienna XLE AWD a few months ago. I used it to take a trip down to Florida the first week of June. I took out the middle seats, folded down the back seats and put a nice twin memory foam mattress in the back ($250 Zeopedic from Big Lots), along with everything I needed. I mostly stayed at campgrounds, where I could plug in a 20 inch box fan and stay cool at night. It does the job for someone looking for minimalist van camping or living. I was comfortable. I purchased the roof cross-members so I can add a cargo box or haul a kayak, or maybe bicycle mounts. It's highly versatile and the van is comfy to drive. I was in the mountains of West Virginia during heavy rain and I just set the cruise and it kept distance and speed with the vehicle in front of me, making the drive much nicer. The AWD makes the vehicle feel very sure on the road at all times. I got the Predawn Gray Mica (a dark metallic gray), which is sharp looking and stealth at the same time. Highly recommended as a swiss army knife vehicle. I get looks from some guys while driving it, but I just smile. I think the only down side is reduced gas mileage because of the AWD, but that's a small price to pay. The van doesn't have a spare tire, but the tires are drive flats so no problems there.

Looks much much better, drives better, and she can fit it into her side of garage without having to squeeze around - it's just more practical vehicle and more comfortable for everyone. You can fit a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood in it? That's impressive. The 4 x 8 test is my personal benchmark for hauling. I won't buy a truck if I can't move 4 x 8 sheet goods flat. I drive a Kia Soul that almost meets this mark. It's a really cramped interior compared to that Sienna though.

Convinced my parents to get a 2014 Sienna instead of a highlander. It has been a great car and tows well even when the van is full and going over hilly terrain. More space and flexibility with more upright seating than most crossovers. The second row seats slide for and aft making it a cavernous second row (I'm 6'1").

When it comes to cargo/people hauling capability, it's hard to top a mini van. I currently own a mini van, not a Toyota. But I have thought of replacing my mini van with the Toyota Sienna because of the AWD. However, to get the AWD option you lose the spare tire. It comes with run flat tires which a lot of people don't like. I have seen an aftermarket lift kit which gives the Sienna 3.5 more inches of ground clearance. The real problem for the Sienna is it's long overdue for an upgrade. I believe it still does not come with Android Auto or Apply Car Play. I've heard 2021 might be the year.

I drive a 2012 Sienna LE AWD in Canada. It's got 201K km on it. Only tear and wear, like tires, brakes and filters. I do not have spare tires and I hate those run flat. They are heavy and don't last long. I just run the regular all season and carry a Slime Flat Tire repair kit. Only had flat tire threes times over the all these years and it only happened the last 2 years. I got those tires repair on my own driveway. Who needs a spare any more. Pirelli makes tires with seal inside and noise control system. I just hope they will make the size for 50 or 55 profile. More companies are making their tires puncture proof. As far as AWD concerns, I found it useful only when you're in deep deep snow and trying to get out of it. I have winter tires on when it gets below 7 degrees. Most of the time, it will be fine. Now I live in Toronto. If you're in Newfoundland or Quebec, AWD may be use more often. Another thing, engine oil. I don't know about other dealers in GTA, the one I go to use Mobil 1 0W-20 synthetic oil. Mobile 1 is not the best but way better than other brands IMO. So the engine runs very smooth even at this high milege. I drove the new 2019 Sienna LE and it is much quieter and little more ponies then mine. More technology toys but overall it's the same. Still 14 cup holders and same seat arrangements. It's already at its best and it's difficult to find a better way to improve the inside. You literally can lay down a big piece of plywood and move things around the city. Extreme practical. I saw a post a while back ago and some guy drive the same van w/o AWD and he goes long distance. He drove a lot of times between US and Canada. By the time he sold it, it has over 500K km on the van. These are hard core facts.

Almost got an AWD until I heard it didn't have a spare. Last thing I need is to go on a long ski trip to Mammoth and blow out a tire in the middle of nowhere. This video nailed it 100%! Last December I purchased a brand new 2019 Toyota Sienna AWD. Never thought I say this but I'm absolutely in love with this van. (AWD model) Also I own a 2015 Subaru Forester XT and 2010 Toyota Highlander AWD. After purchasing the Sienna first thing I did was go straight to Discount Tires and purchased a set of Blizzak DMV-2. I live in MN so I know how important it is to have snow tires. Being a owner of a Subaru I was extremely impressed by the AWD capabilities of this van especially paired with the best set of snow tires you can buy in our market. I can feel the system working and sending power to each wheel when needed and felt way to confident driving in this years Minnesotas snow season. MN record snow fall for February felt like a joke driving in my Sienna.. If anyone is wondering why I chose Sienna over its class competitors.. 1. TOYOTA superior reliability 2. AWD 3. V6 Power / Transmission 4. Room I will add this van is outdated and body/chassy has been going on 10+ years with alot of refinements to stay on par with competition. FCA/Dodge No thanks. Why buy a vehicle to have it sit in the Stealerships lot.. Everyday at work I drive a Dodge Caravan with 60k miles. Been through 2 engines, 2 piston miss fire, transmission is currently rattling, just got a new radiator and the list goes on and on... Honda Odyssey has everything going for it because its newer but it falls behind Toyota in my 1-3 reasons to buy a van. I know a few Odyssey owners and a couple of them had transmission issues. I know about 15 family and friend who own a Toyota Sienna and they never had issue with them. I have heard of sliding door problems but none I know have this issue.. 2021 or 2022 All-New Sienna will be out soon!

We have a 2016 Sienna XLE AWD with about 50K miles. I love this vehicle! It's really amazing in the snow. Last winter, got caught in a New Mexico mountain snow storm that left 15" on the roads. We had to leave before the plows could come. We plowed snow up a 1/4 mile with about a 6% grade and made it out without a single slip of a tire! Amazing! One downside with ours is that it goes through the expensive RFT tires fairly quickly so we have to rotate tires every 5K miles and check the alignment before every long road trip. I'm down to two kids at home, but we are keeping this van. It hauls stuff & people like no crossover can and gets about the same or better MPG. It's great to drive on long trips. Getting in and out is easy compared to most crossovers and (especially) pickups. The engine in the 2016 is great, but I understand the 2017 went up about 30+ HP and more torque. Nathan, I'm with you. I ran them over the top of the piano and when tight the piano did not budge. It took four of us to load and unload the piano. Ten years later I traded the van for a Lexus RX 350, which I do not like nearly as much. The turning radius of the Lexus is smaller but it is noisier than the van.

I previously owned a 2017 Pacifica Touring L Plus (totalled) and now I have a 2018 Odyssey Touring. I've also enjoyed extensive drive time while renting a 2018 Sienna XLE and 2018 Grand Caravan GT. Love them ALL! Minivans will consistently put a smile on my face and make life easier: Sliding doors, flexible seating, excellent storage solutions, big windows, comfortable driving position, great seats for all.

Give me an air suspension option where I can get 10" of ground clearance. I could get "out there" and bow hunt of it. Great video

I still drive my 2004 Sienna - has 330,000 on it and still going strong. It's perfect for my drums and I haul a fully assembled 2-deck cart as well.

Pacifica is totally awesome. Sienna is really outdated. but minivans are far more affordable than SUVs!

Justin Xu Do you actually own a Pacifica or are you a FCA basher. I own a Pacifica with over 50k miles. Never had a problem. The only issue are the oe tires in the snow, swapped them out for snows in the winter.

I got for my family 2004 Sienna XLE Limited and we are really happy with it. It came so handy many times I was surprised because we were thinking to get a some crossover and we glad that we didn't.

The Toyota Sienna is my favorite minivan, but the infotainment system needs an upgrade and so does the rest of the interior but great video overall. Keep it up TFLNow!

Yeah its true what Señor Loco is saying. On the next gen they totally need to redo then Infotainment and Interior. I believe that Siena is the better sportier looking of the Van's. How ever the Oddysey has a better engine and towing and infotainment system. The Pacifica is the Ungly Ducking, the exterior looks hideous with that 200 look. However it has the nicer interior of all 3, nice infotainment as well, 3 DVD Players, and The Stow and Go Seats on All back seat make it a winner to me. If I could I would give it the Outside look of the Sienna, the engine if the Odyssey, and keep the reat as it is. But we can only hope that the next generation of Vans will be better looking, and have better infotainment systems.

I am an Honda Odyssey owner for 16 years with over 250,000 miles on it. I replaced it with the 2019 Sienna for three reasons: higher ground clearance, AWD and good styling. It serves me well as a daily car and weekend campervan.

@@autobotavengerfireballxl5339 haha not only is the Pacifica built in Canada, owned by Italians, and can't touch the Sienna in reliability. Also Finn Balor is from Ireland, so damn this was ignorance to another level.

Bought a crossover in 2017, hated it! 3 wks ago, I went to replace that crossover with another crossover that I thought I would like better. I'm so glad that I was open minded enough to pop over & look at the Siennas. They are stripping the crossovers of the basic items that I like in a car, yet charging the same price. The Sienna was loaded with storage, cup holders, comfortable seats, AWD & the same gas mileage as my crossover. I bought a new 2019 Sienna & I love it!!
