Nope in its tail cut in rise sunbreak its flesh is Green with honeycomb form of flesh plus its have membrane wings also for its compound eyes and honeycomb form in its horn when its bolted so yeah 4 things (including the tail sting) its a bit like an insect

I hope we can one day have a new neopteron monster outside of Ahtal-Ka and the Seltas'. It would be cool to have neopteron that is inspired by rhino beetles, but with Rajang's skeleton and is a heavy duty powerhouse.

Anything that isn't a mammal or a reptile would be a great addition to the Monster Hunter cast - more insects, more amphibians, and more spiders would all be grand. Thankfully, Monster Hunter Wilds is confirmed to be getting at least one new Amphibian - the Chatacabra. As for the rhino beetle Neopteron, yes I would LOVE to fight Heracross. However, there WAS one other large Neopteron before Seltas - the Vespoid Queen. But it was basically a much larger Vespoid with her only gimmicks being the ability to spray a Defense Down gas and to call regular Vespoids to her aid, and it was only in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

The thing that upsets me the most about this comment section is the amount of people calling each other stupid for assuming its a bug. Like come on, it looks like a bug, has insectoid like features and has the weird feet, but due to the biological aspect of this monster, it isn't. Of course people are gonna assume its an insect if it looks like one. Like Akantor and Ukanlos looking like Elder Dragons, and due to their biology, are considered as flying wyverns.

well, technically, we don't know that. he has mammalian features but still has scales on his tail, underbelly, and legs, and has feathers instead of fur. His face is actually analogous to khezu, with the lack of scales and bare skin, and flying wyerns have many members that have features differing from reptiles. Nargacuga is very mammal like and has a beak, legiana is very bird like, even rathalos has something of a pseudo beak, and of course astalos shares many features with neopterans

Actually, Seltas Queen has four appendages for moving like Ahtal-Ka and its male counterpart, but the two things near its mouth are "pedipalps", which are modified limbs like Seltas and Ahtal-Ka's arm blades. Thus, it has six non-wing limbs and is thus an insect. But how in the world did people even think Astalos is a bug?! Other than the translucent wings and its exoskeleton-like carapace, I fail to see how anyone with half a brain could mistake this for a bug. Or maybe their eyesight is bad like Astalos'...

The monster hunter universe is biologically divorced from the real world. These are not ‘reptiles’ or ‘mammals’ they are analogous. Rajangs-Wyverians are not therian mammals. They arent even mammals. They lay eggs and have wyvern traits. Dont believe me? look at lagombis skull and notice how it is anatomically homologous to wyverns like glavenus rather than any earth mammal including stem mammals. Many flying wyverns have basal chordate traits. Like khezu, and Gigginox they are biologically anomalous. The fanbase lacks imagination, calling mh wyverns ‘reptiles’ is like calling a pandoran ‘horse’ an equud. Calling astalos or any flying wyvern a ‘reptile’ is as ignorant as calling them insects. These are completely separate, alien creatures that only have analogous traits to earth organisms. Yes it may be helpful to refer to them as ‘mammal’ or ‘reptile’ but such monikers are polyphyletic rather than monophyletic.

This is just straight up incorrect, Fanged Wyverns, Flying Wyverns and Brute Wyverns are all classified under Saurischia, meaning they are reptiles. This is according to the official phylogeny Gammoth and Popo are under Proboscidea, which are elephants. Fanged beasts being closely related to them means they are indeed mammals, Arzuros is literally just a big armored bear. It’s not stated at all if this is an alternate Earth universe, or an alien planet, so you can’t use that argument here. Especially when official sources from the devs say otherwise
