"Nobley thinks it's a bop" yessss it's the little details that make this film so perfect!

As soon as Jane was dubbed, “Miss Erstwhile” I was like, dang. Mansfield Park, anyone? I mean, the SHADE she got from the beginning.

I love Austenland! I actually listened to it and the sequel during a trip to Scotland (while traveling and riding the bus around Edinburgh). I think the casting is almost perfect for this adaptation.

Oh wow! That sounds like the perfect way to listen to the books. It really is such wonderful casting.

You are sooo right. I'm glad I found your analysis on Austenland. Sometimes I feel like Austen fans kinda do not understand the refferences because they are subtly inserted in this funny and kitschy atmosphere and they tend to dismiss their value because it isn't presented in a traditional period drama format. Personally, I love this movie and enjoy all the 'winks' to Jane Austen's work. Nobley's 'Darcyness' wins me everytime. Damn you JJ Feild! ;)

The movie did something crazy - at one point it kinda made we forget all about the rake trope so I was actually really surprised by that twist (even thought the hints were there like Martin hanging out with (other) actors) so I was kinda surprised by the ending and with whom Jane ended up. Even though I knew that Henry is supposed to be a Darcy-like character. There were some silly/cringey scenes but overal it was really enjoyable. This movie by surprising me (see above) kinda made me sad that I knew ending of each of Jane Austen's book before actually reading it. And as there are no more books of her, I never get to be surprised be her... Also what an audacity to make Henry Tilney wear I heart Darcy t-shirt...

That film was so bizarre and yet I kind of love it

Yes, love that it is an amalgamation of the novels and how it addresses fandom. :)

Yes! It does a great job of poking fun at the eccentricities of the Jane Austen fandom while still embracing all the reasons we love her work.

Keri Russell is the trope of the American star who is not blown off the stage by the British acting ability because she is playing herself. This breaking of the fourth wall is how comedies are done.

I just watched this movie and loved it. You described the feeling that I couldn't put into words myself (this movie making us feel like we were reading a Jane Austen story for the first time again). Thank you for this video! It is wonderful to see other people appreciating the movie as much as I did.

I loved this. I haven't broken down Austenland, like you did. It was interesting all your ideas and thoughts. I am a true Janite. Austen officialdo.. But as much as I love Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy isn't my type. I married a Mr. Knightly type. I feel I am a cross between Emma and Fanny from Mansfield Park. I have Fanny"s honestly but Emma's outgoing personality that wants to help people improve themselves. Not everyone wants to improve, it's sad, because even Emma and myself, have grown. Thanks for the lovely start to my day. My cat Dazzle, is 23 years old, and I think she needs the Vet today. She keeps sneezing , which last time she had a respiratory infection. She's old, but otherwise doing good.

I loved this presentation! I can now really see the parallels of many of the characters and circumstances in Jane Austen's books that are represented in the film. Bravo!

The only thing I would change about the movie is I wouldn't make Henry Nobley an actor. I would make him a guest of the Austenland with Miss Heartwright still being assigned to him, but Jane just assumes he's an actor because she can't differ fantasy from reality and he's too good to be true. I think it would make the revelation a little bit more satisfying. The movie still got the point across though and I loooved it.

Can someone tell me why Jane is Nobley's partner (at the Ball, for the theatrical play) even though she only paid for the "basic copper package" ? Thanks❤ this analysis is so smart, I love what you do in your videos !

bc he likes her? I dont remember it specifically but i have a memory of them (the guys) talkimg about how they have a quota of thyr get like a promotion depending on how many girls they fall in love with, (its with the whole scheme to do with the person who runs austenland) but mr nobley was like ACTUALLY falling in love with jane and she wasnt having it xD
