Arkham city was the first ever game that truly immersed me into the next gen open world genre on xbox 360 at the time, it introduced me into batmans mythos and lore n made me wanting for more after the game was over even though i played it 5x. It always made me feel like i was there in those icy cold dark streets of gotham city.

What I love in the game is when the thugs and soldiers talk they can for shadow what's going to happen and tell you more about the story and even have a couple Easter eggs not to mention the shot tun things to find that tell you about other characters like figuring out black mask escaped and taking in the game and seeing all the little things they put in a absolute legend of a game

People need to understand that it was insomniacs intial time really dealing with a calibre franchise like spiderman. It was their first time doing a spiderman game so how're we contrasting spiderman 2018 and Arkham City which had time to develop it's compulsory fundamentals. The aunt may point sorry to say imo is much better than Arkham city. Aunt may was the only relative aspect Peter had to ground in reality and now she's gone. Joker personifies a very flawed ideology Batman has. "performances" are fine, but performances don't be beat emotion however, spiderman 2018 gameplay sorry to say feels alot more fluid almost cathartic. The fluidity of the swinging is the best we've had, the fighting is more challenging than Arkham city and general narrative I'd give it to City. Joker is an incredible character I'll admit, but in relation to Doc Ock that's a more relatable character who represents a father like figure who betrays the only individual who looked up to him. That relationship permeates throughout the entire game whilst joker took a serum then eventually submitted to his symptoms. Idk if you'll see this, but I'm educated within DC and Marvel so I think this comment holds substance.

I agree with your opinion however there’s some logistics to consider. Although Arkham city IMO has a well defined story mode that it’s truly thrilling it’s lack of character moments throughout the entirety of the series is what stops the Arkham series from being the perfect superhero game of all time. Character moments are important for two major reasons not only doe it humanise the story, but it provides a connection with that character and it’s surroundings. The Arkham series was strictly about Batman which refused to incorporate any significance to Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne was flushed out throughout the entirety of this series which meant we weren’t able to truly experience to whole different persona to the character which would have added more depth to the Arkham series. Without the characterisation games like Asylum and city just felt like a wild goose chase navigating between the various of location to advance to the next objective. Spider-Man PS4 delves into the character moments much more then the Arkham series by exploring the life and struggles of Peter. However this doesn’t necessarily make it better only making me realise how much more I just want from a Batman game.

I disagree. Those moments were present in Batman: Arkham Origins, and from that point on, Bruce Wayne is just a disguise for Batman. There would be no big point on using it in the game more than it already did.

I must disagree. I think the biggest criticisms for Arkham Knight lie mostly in the subjective area. Most of which I do agree with, Arkham Hood was a super lame "twist". Tim and Barbara being in a relationship just feels odd to me. But I can't say that any of that took away from the far superior gameplay. It blew the rest of the series completely out of the water in that regard. Wasn't even close. (I personally even quite enjoyed the bat tank)

@@ME3fan The issue is the batmobile tank stuff was the first thing in the Arkham series that slightly challenged people with a skill based gameplay. It had been an utter cakewalk otherwise, and I think people viewed it in that light. "Why is this taking so long?" Well shoot the shit faster and don't run into riddler walls and it won't take so long. I don't remember any of the batmobile stuff taking any amount of time outside of the timed bomb side missions and the select story set pieces.

It's the first superhero game in history that let's you change suits on the fly, gives each suit it's own super power that you can charge up and switch the abilities to different suits, introduces new and innovative gadgets that you can combine together like the suspension matrix and the trip mines, let's you play as non-superpowered characters to see and experience the story from a different perspective, let's you take and throw weapons back at enemies and jump off a wall to propel yourself to hit an enemy, I could go on. Can you do all that in other spider-man games? Can you do any of that in your overrated arkham games? No all of that is new and innovative. Sit tf down

My top 3 comic book/superhero games ever: 1. Batman: Arkham City - Same as Asylum, but all gameplay improved upon with expanded open world and side missions 2. Batman: Arkham Asylum - Superb/innovative gameplay, excellent atmosphere, voice acting and story 3. The reason why I like it is in certain parts in which you can get a handle of the controls and fight the inmates to gain more XP and earn more points to get upgrades from WayneTech. Then the game flows smoothly even more when you got a handle and the upgrades. Plus I enjoy gliding around Arkham City and the time limit, up until the poisoned blood begins to hit you when you have to confront Ra's al Ghul.

Spiderman 2 will probably be utilizing the dual combat mechanic from arkham knight. If Mysterio is going to be in the game they might take a page out of arkham asylums scarecrow bossfight but they will build on that even when I played Spiderman for the first time I instantly clicked with it without the tutorial because I was at an expo the year it released because I was at uni and couldn't play it. My negatives bossfight game me Ra's al ghual vibes from city with the projection and the clones/sprites in city they were illusions.

For me, Batman: Arkham Asylum was the best, an all time classic (except the final boss fight) and each Batman Arkham game got a little less good with each subsequent game, I got near the end Arkham Knight but got fed up with the story before finishing it. Sometime less is more for a video game, a tighter more cohesive story AND I never want to play another Batmobile tank fight EVER again.

I think arkham asylum was the best to me. (Besides spiderman) but batman arkham asylum was way more original. It was the first time anything was ever done that well with batman. The only thing that city has on it is the game has a bigger world and it is a longer storyline. Also as the franchise went on nothing really changed with the combat and the stealth. The biggest thing that happened after asylum was the batmobile in knight. It may have been a change but I dont think it was a good one. Anyways my 2 favorite arkham games are asylum and origins.

The Arkhamverse had a perfect balance between the batman cartoons, comics and “real life” (dark knight). Spider-Man was great but you’re right, they don’t compare. I’d argue that Spider-Man PS4 has a far better story than Arkham City. Arkham city has narrative problems that weigh it down considerably. Though as an overall game, Arkham city is fantastic.

@@aarushghosh9429 the stealth is a downgrade because the cheap fear multi takedown and also most of the predators challenges take place outside which means you can escape very easily and snipe people with the riot suppressor from the Batmobile, in melee combat, enemies still telegraph their moves and it’s super easy to predict when they’re going to attack next, the combat in Arkham knight is so fast, most of the time the camera screws up my combos, the camera is the bigger challenge. The fear multi takedown is such a lame cop out, seriously you can’t take out 5 thugs in 5 seconds

The story is not that great. and of course it uses the Joker AGAIN even tho he is dead. Most of the gadgets are the same, And the boss battles were terrible. No disrespect to your opinion tho. Spider-Man PS4 is so overrated. As someone who actually kept up with Spider-Man video games throughout the generations and not just a casual PS4 owner who only gave a shit about Spider-Man once they gave him a big triple A exclusive game, it does absolutely nothing new to make it an Arkham caliber awakening for the character. I actually completed Spider-Man to 100% and it was repetitive as hell. The mission variety is stuff we've seen many times before in a Spider-Man sandbox which has always been imperfect. The only advantage Spider-Man PS4 has over other Spider-Man games is budget, which made the game look and play incredibly well. There's tons of attention to detail, amazing voice work, and a well thought out rich story. But the gameplay loop falls into all the same trappings of previous Spider-Man games. The worst part is, other Spider-Man games have had better ideas than what is presented in Spider-Man PS4 and Insomniac could have no doubt executed it extremely well but went with the most generic approach for a Spider-Man sandbox. Web of Shadows for example had amazing combat that took you beyond ground level and let you stick to walls and stay in the air as Spider-Man would. The Amazing Spider-Man as well implemented linear style levels of other Spider-Man games into its sandbox making for a best of both worlds in terms of what has been done with Spider-Man in video games which allows for a focused gameplay experience without falling into the same old conventions of a sandbox Spider-Man game. Spider-Man PS4 is still an excellent Spider-Man game with plenty to offer and a solid foundation to build on, but people really are desperate to hail it as an Arkham killer or Spider-Man equivalent which just reeks of pure ignorance. With that being said, as a story, it definitely deserves praise as it puts Spider-Man's MCU outings to shame because Insomniac actually understands and respects the character and what he represents and stands for.

Spiderman 2 will fix most of those concerns hopefully. I can't wait for the dual combat system implementation hopefully they also build on it. But I'm hoping combat is more challenging it was very forgiving in the. But for me personally best version of the character period. Who knows the sequel will overtake batman arkham but overall marvel will overtake DC in the gaming space since they are firing on all cylinders and the arkham series will be forgotten by most or seen as "overrated" hell its starting to happen couple that with growing hate for batman or fatigue.

Games like the middle earth, beenox Spiderman games and even Ben 10 ultimate alien cosmic destruction copied it insomniac had some influence as well I'm sure there are others I'm missing. If anything each game has mechanics I want in the other. Also people seem to hate batman or anything associated to him. A lot of factor some say arkham is garbage because they love Spiderman even more so character preference is a factor to people but one cannot deny the influence of the arkham games they set the standard that other superhero games would have to meet or surpass.

Arkham city will always hold a special place in my heart. I really wish I could play it for the first time again. I remember finishing it and just ALREADY wanting to replay it. I really fucking loved Spider-Man ps4 but Arkham city takes the cake. There’s so much I wanna talk about with this game bc at this point I’m just writing an essay saying “Arkham city is great” lol but although Spider-Man ps4 is my FAVORITE game, that’s bc of biased opinions and I just really like the web shooter wheel thing, that’s pretty cool. But if I had to choose between playing Arkham city or Spider-Man for the first time again? Def Arkham city. I really loved gliding down into the chimney of the steel mills (I think it was the steel mills, it’s been a while) and opening the door to the church and having Harley run up to you or cartwheel up to you, that entire little piece of the game was amazing, having her goons aim at you and you have to throw down the smoke pellet. Ugh what a fucking game. I agree with a lot of what was said in this video

Spider-Man PS4 is actually my favorite interpretation of the Spider-Man ever lol. City had the best encounters, and engagement start to finished. A different time when we all were only blown away.
