One reason: Because it is True! As shown by St Thomas Aquinas, only the Catholic faith can start with reason as a foundational principle for its faith. All other faiths must, at some point, abandon logic.

Besides it being true and the church that Jesus created and it's incredible history, majestic architecture, creating the university system, saints lore, etc. I'm Catholic because i recognize the need for a hierarchical institution to unite and order a community of people. We need qualified and knowledgeable high IQ people to guide us to the right path, to teach us about morality and order. To set standards for people, to interpret texts and situations that the average man just isn't able to comprehend to it's fullest by himself either bc it's very complicated to do it alone or he doesn't have enough time to put into it. I love our Church's hierarchy and i voluntarily submit to it because i acknowledge it's authority and i whole heartedly believe it's for the best for all of us. I think this is the biggest problem with protestants and people in general that have an issue with the church. They would much rather be themselves who get to interpret texts and what does X mean and what doesn't, what is really a sin or detrimental to them and their loved ones and what isn't. They don't really want to submit to anyone so obviously they're allergic to the Church and it's teachings.

How things have been explained about changes to The Church has been capital T (Tradition) and lower case t (tradition) Tradition: the sacraments, trinity, The Eucharist etc. is never changed but tradition: translation of mass dialogue, can be changed

The problem with abandoning yourself to an "infallible magisterium" is the modern problem that this said magisterium changes and indeed is subject to the whims of the age just like everything else. It was an elephant in the room ever since Vatican II, but now moreso today with European branches of the church setting up their own "magisteriums" under the guise of a "synod". Yes it is freeing to abandon your divine opinions to that of the collective mind of a physical organization, but I do not believe there are true Catholics that actually do so in the fullest sense. Every Catholic hits a point where they deviate from the Church quietly. I speak as a former devout Catholic Catechist.

The difference between the Catholic Church and all other churches is the difference between an aircraft carrier and any other ship. The captain and crews of small ships are confident that they see and understand everything about the church (their ship). The shock awakening comes when they suffer shipwreck and are saved by a passing aircraft carrier - being taken in through a small door on the side. Once inside, they realise that they do not even comprehend where they are. That usually cuts them down to size, exposes their ignorance and silences them. That was my experience.

Im interested in learning about Catholicism from an accurate source, preferably in this format as i have disabilities. My husband left the church and all faith after bad experience in Catholic classes and i was baptised and confirmed Lutheran. My grandma was Roman Catholic. I feel drawn the more i learn but need accuracy. Thanks for any recommendations.

#Jenergy another good source is st. Paul center with Scott Hahn. Home sweet Rome is an amazing book. Steve Ray is also very good his book crossing the Tigris I believe is an excellent book. Goodbless you and your family. My wife just came into the church from methodist. She fell in love with church history and hearing the holy spirit telling her to come into church, after fighting it for so long....

There are nearly a quarter million parishes in the world. The scandals over the last 10 years affected less than ½% of them. (Roughly estimates.) The scandals are therefore certainly mot grounds for leaving the Church.

Catholicism is the best of Judaism, Hellenistic philosophy, and European Paganism. Catholicism created Europe. That's why I'm Catholic. The problem is the US is a religious marketplace.
