Great video! I started being a travel youtuber about 4 years ago. I never made that much money form it, but I was never as dedicated as others. The people who really make money from it, grind really hard. Like filming and editing every day. And they also become algorithm obsessed. Being a travel youtuber actually made traveling less free. I started doing things that my subscribers would like, as opposed to what I wanted to do. I always felt that I had to film content too. As you said my most popular video was about dating in Brazil. But the reason I started making the travel videos was because I wanted to help people travel. Now I'm transitioning to making supplemental material for my clients. (I work in Career Development). It's great. I don't worry about taking pictures of my food or my travels. I can just enjoy traveling. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your travels!

This is the most honest take on being a travel youtuber, and I thank you for giving people a reality check on the FOMO of being a travel youtuber...will follow more content!

Great honest video! I can relate bro, it can be an eternal grind and sometimes people just want to take and take without ever giving back. The failing business part can be demoralizing for many people. It's unfortunate how viewers don't really understand how much awesome free info KZbinrs give. Keep grinding though 💪🏾 I considered calling it quits many times because of how shitty Colombia KZbin is, but I'm glad I didn't cos I eventually found my nice 🙂 you're a smart guy you'll figure it out!

Firstly I appreciate the honesty. As a foreigner I like to see the day in the life videos. Personally I romanticize living in Latin America and like to envision my life abroad going to coffee shops, hanging out with eccentric locals and nomads. I love the stories of how foreigners got to where there at owning a business or just living in another country. I'm also interested and relate a lot to the reasoning why someone from a 1st world country would opt to live in a place where they potentially risk being robbed or never being fully accepted by the community. I also love the adventure part of it. Ya know where nothing goes according to plan but always works out type. Great work tho bro I love watching your stuff!

Thank you Jon! And yes I used to romanticize the idea of living in LATAM for years! And now I've been doing it for years! Thanks for the comment!

Don’t get discouraged. I have been on KZbin for almost two years. I believe the content creator has to find a solid niche where you have significant viewership. I see travel couples making content, and I also see bachelors such as myself. So far, what has been appealing is my livestreams. I’m a hybrid between passport bro/black pill/and roasting dating coaches. It’s a lot of work! However, some of my subs are now encouraged to start their channels.

Appreciate the transparency brother. I’ve always wanted to get into the travel KZbin space. But I always figured I would run into similar problems you would be having. Now I’m more focused on creating a business that serves travelers as opposed to doing videos. I feel like I wouldn’t be able to truly enjoy my travels because it would become a full time job.

@9:48 I think that your skills as a filmmaker is above the category for your niche. Your interest in food and LatAm culture is spot on but therin lies the rub, most Americans just don't care about that stuff viz. food and culture. I don't mean to sound rude but myself included in that group. I am just not into LatAm dancing all the time and not embracing the Anglo-Saxon hustle culture. We like going cuz it's cheap and the food is cheap and we can live a great lifestyle for cheap. Not to mention, great weather. Now, the problem or opportunity I see in the market is people would like to maintain that awesome style of living within LatAm but they can't do it for a prolonged duration. I work as a truck driver as well as a coder. If I got into the back of a truck like a semi and I worked for 8 months straight. I should probably have enough money to get a property in Argentina and retire based on well selected dividend producing stocks. Your angle which I think is going to work the best for you is that you go in the US and you look for really juicy money making trades which can be the pole vault for retiring in LatAm. And then you show them how to live in LatAm for a very cheap price. Take for instance, in Argentina there's a city called Mendoza which is half the price of Buenos Aries which is already extremely cheap. You can get a property there (Mendoza) for really cheap and just live it up. And people don't know about this city as well as other low key cities within LatAm that are super cheap. I know nothing about Buenos Aires's or Argentina's property market besides a couple Reddit post I've seen. I think that that would be where you would put your effort because there's a dearth in that sector but there is a saturation within the travel vlog sector; there's just too much content to stand out. Also, I watched that cheese and food video and I even paid a streamer girl to watch it on stream. So......

Very true. I have a friend who is a huge KZbinr and he has moved away from those type of videos. But he started with that type of content. Now that negativity still haunts his channel. He is very successful, but he has an underlying base of viewers who just want that.

Swedish Gringo style… just add a couple of clips of you interviewing pretty girls. business is about giving people what they want. even Lost LeBlanc uses his GF for thumbnails. Dating and women are a huge factors with travel. Take a tinder date to 1-2 of the best sunset views in são paulo, and do the rest solo. don’t you want to enjoy dating amazing women when doing amazing activities aboard? (so does your viewer)

Amazing vid! Don't give up 👆 What does not make sense to me, how those other channels with dating girls on the street can get monetized in the first place? YT does not like this kind of stuff, and they often does not allow monetize this, because of mentioning certain words even. Or Am I wrong? They even demonetized videos when someone was talking of getting into a sauna naked (as part of a culture) in a German channel. I think these channels can run into way too many problems in the long run. What do you think

Create content as a hobby and don’t focus on the revenue.. create content you like because once you get on the hamster wheel of churning out content it might put pressure on to put out content.

I’m glad you began this channel. I had started a travel brand in 2021 and I found you because I wanted to go to Rio. I filtered all the vids uploaded within the last month and many of the videos available for Rio were not helpful but yours were. you answered the qs I had. Then I started following your insta which led me to fundamentals of finance. Which I’ve also appreciated and has helped me. I’ve had a similar path with the filming courses and yt video creation. Your stuffs valuable so don’t get discouraged and id say have fun with it as much as you can and keep building if you love it.
