@@Skyeebooklover kind of. The idea of not touching the phone is about allowing your thoughts to be free and as loud as it could, and being comfortable with being alone without trying to fill the silence. listening to music could distract the experience.

I spent 3 months in a hospital back in 2019. Over half the time was spent without my phone. I learned a few things about bordem and why we avoid it. My mind went immediately to my problems and whatever was stressing me. Phones represent an escape. But because I didn't have my phone I was forced to reconcile my thoughts and fears but how uncertain my future was at that time. Being in a hospital unable to walk, talk or eat you can imagine I had a lot to worry about. So instead of trying to push my anxiety away I chose to have faith that things would get better and pour the little energy I had into long conversations with my family members who were with me. It wasn't easy and broke down several times, but it was necessary for me to go through thst in order to heal mentally. As I regained my health I've carried the belief that bordem, being able to sit quietly in a room with your own thoughts is essential to life. If we can get past the intial urge to escape via our phones, we will find whatever troubling thoughts may come with bordem won't last and behind it all is true creativity and wonder.

Your home looks like a film set! Nicely done. Love the color grading as well. That's really tough to find a balance among all the things you love, so I found it is also important to set properly priorities. Otherwise, boredom becomes an escape from productivity. :)

I remember thinking about this when I was a kid(I’m 19, so this wasn’t exactly forever ago). My thought process was basically, “everything we do in our lives beyond meeting basic needs is motivated by an aversion to boredom. We’re constantly doing something/being stimulated. Imagine what we could do if we just took time to be alone with our thoughts each day.” And of course I proceeded to become even more screen addicted than ever during subsequent years

I can relate to this video in sooo many ways. Our phones, computers, social medias etc. literally disconnects us from the real world. I realized it more now since I started to change my habits. It's like humans are intelligent creatures and they should think, they should take time to be creative than to just actively try to pass time over things. While our time is this precious, why do we try to make it pass this badly? Ever since I started to realize things I started to just sit on my bed and dream. To think about anything that comes to my mind, to talk to myself, and let myself be my only friend. And let me tell you it improved my life so much. I mean I always was a dreamer, always was a thinker when I was a child. But actually spending time doing that is a whole another thing, and helped me get my life on track. Thank you for making this video, it's really helpful

I thought this was another psychology lesson from another expert on KZbin but I slowly watched your other videos and I gave this one a go. It's so true how the media tells us how to feel that I forgot that I'm first living in a real world and my own experience. As much as I like to "learn" new stuff on the internet, I'm ready to admit that I don't remember anything from what I've seen only the fact that Riza is an awesome youtuber while talking about all my problems.

I totally agree with this. Nowadays we are so little with our own thoughts it's scary. I watched one of your vlogs yesterday and felt a relief. Your videos are calming - opposite what majority of videos (especially shorts) out there. After watching it I remembered to slow down. There's no rush. I don’t need to keep up with the superfast pace of social media. I've been longing to move to the countryside, grow my own veggies and flowers (I'm a gardener) and slow down my life. Focus on my art and photography. Focus on the real life, as you said. One day, maybe one day I'll have my own log house & art studio + land in the countryside (and pets). ❤

this describes how I've been feeling so accurately. I've had the most productive year of my life by making new friends, accomplishing so much work, learning new skills, and traveling so often. In my 20s, I feel obligated to make every day a productive day because I have the time, the money, and the energy. This attitude is starting to crush me, and deliberately doing nothing for once really helped bring my mood up. I didn't really know why it worked, but this explains it so well. Thanks.

A philosopher called Kierkegaard once wrote that having that time where you do nothing, that mundane time is actually what makes us human. From what I understood, the one thing that differentiates us from animals is the capability to think freely with out reason. Taking time to think and do nothing is what makes us human. Some other philosophers, like Kant, say that to escape boredom, which is supposedly the hate of oneself, one works their ass off, to come back at the end of the day and find pleasure in discovering oneself again. I thought they would be good references for the interested. These videos are great, it's movie quality.
