When does being "our authentic selves" start being destructive?

Personally i have a neutral-ish view but kinda leaning a bit on the negative side on this, i see being yourself as like not caring for other opinion and enjoy live to the fullest by not overthinking too much as to what others might think of you, with this mindset while it is self centered, at the same time i feel like it's best to decide things with and for yourself, after all it is your life, so choose the way you live and disregard others opinion, this might seem positive while at the same time, this kind of mindset as you said in the video can be self destructive. We as a human have flaws, like a lot, we are far from perfection and will never reach it, and being completely self centered won't help either, instead it might become self destructive, this is why to improve we must adapt, to improve we must listen to critics, and to improve we must sort those critics and apply it for the better. "Just be yourself" is a shallow guide as to how to live your life, it's like saying just do good to every people, when in reality so many people don't deserve such kindness and you might as well be too selfless to the point where all you think is others and not yourself, and it can be self destructing as well.

I kinda disagree with most of the direction of this video. I think most people give the advice of being yourself as advice that is equivalent to "don't overthink it". Because you can't tell someone to not overthink something, it won't work. But giving someone the direction of "be yourself" makes it easier for them to act and live without analysis paralysis. Although I understand what you are getting at with the discussion of the idea of self-acceptance and how it can be used in unproductive ways.
