Hey dudes! Hope you enjoy. As always: show notes. #1 at 3:34 i call the blackberry film a documentary. Its a biopic. My bad, again its innacurate anyway. Not used as a source, just categorized wrong in my analysis. At 6:46 I said all those phones where produced by TCL. that seems to be untrue. At least the key2 was, but the priv definitely wasn't. So definitely some of them were, just a slight inaccuracy.

The film you keep referencing wasn't a documentary - it was a biopic/dramatic feature on the people involved. Weird to keep calling it a documentary.

Ah memories. Loved my Z30. Still the best phone I’ve ever owned. Hacked that thing to have Instagram and its email / notifications drawer still hadn’t been beaten. Solid phone. Then they built outside of the company and put out the passport and the priv which I threw out of a moving car because its Bluetooth skipped because it overheated. Turned into the closest strip mall and bought an iPhone 7 Plus and never went back Actually. All of the Android phones were utterly shit.

I’m sorry the Newton had a phone feature, and was out way before RIM. And it was actually more iPhone like than blackberry like as it was all screen albeit stylus based.

Priv was not produced by TCL as you are saying in the video but from Rim (Nowadays Blackberry).
@owencooktech6 ай бұрын
@@enwsiths you may be right. I just did some more research to validate your claim. I vividly remember reading they sold their name rights on phones to TCL but I can't find it. I'll add it to the show notes. Thanks.

Ok I found it. You're right. The priv was not produced by TCL but some of those other phones I showed, including the Key 2 were. That's my bad it's in the show notes.

@@owencooktech Also Priv was the last headset designed and produced by RIM, and Its kinda collectible for this reason. Main reason Priv failed imo was its cpu. At that time snapdragon was struggling to produce a decent cpu chip and Blackberry chose to use sd808 (heavily sucked, overheating issues, mediocre performance etc). Software wise Priv was an excellent phone with sturdy build quality, amazing screen and superb keyboard but cpu (almost) killed it and killed Blackberry. I still wonder if a decent cpu used in Priv what would have happened. Afterwards TCL bought the rights to produce phones with Blackberry branding with Blackberry being rensposible for OS part. TCL's best phones imho were Key1 and Key2/Key2 LE. Pitty that a single company nowadays isnt interested in this form factor (with pkb) to get the rights to produce BB phones. I am sure that many people are interested in this concept. Anyway, seeing your video woke the Blackberry fan inside me and yesterday i pulled the Blackberry 9790 from my drawer, charged it, put my 2nd sim in it and today i am using it again for calls and texting. Keep up the good work.

In all honesty, I would be delighted to witness a novel approach that deviates from the conventional Apple or Android operating systems. The current landscape appears rather monotonous, and the introduction of a Blackberry-inspired design, complete with a physical keyboard, could potentially revolutionize the industry.

Absolutely. I feel the same way. Any day now they'll be a large third player that forces phone companies to innovate again.
