Elop was actually someone with a vision. He could have just adopted android on Nokia smartphones since Android was actually an open source software. That decision could have saved Nokia.

@@owencooktech Really!? He's hated by most Nokia fans because he dumped innovative operating systems like Maemo and MeeGo which could have saved Nokia, but he rejected them and waited for Windows Phone to release, but by then, it was too late.

@@Yavor0971 I read in some article many years ago that Nokia didnt want to join android because they were concerned that they’d have to be a part of the horde of brands surviving on android trying to make a name. After many years now, we know who really won the Android race while rest of them disappeared in time…
@Yavor09716 күн бұрын
@@naufalsam Most people say if they continued with Meego instead of Windows, they wouldn't have failed. Maybe they wouldn't have failed if they adapted Symbian 5th edition better to touchscreens, made it easier to develop for and made their early touchscreen devices better, as apparently, they weren't very good.

HMD missed out on something huge when they bought the Nokia name. They could have made Nokia's answer to Pixels or a Galaxy S challenger. It's sad to see how far they've fallen. I remember having a 3310 way back and my friends and I would swap out covers. So much fun

In simple words the primary reason Nokia failed because of Stephen Eloph's stupidity and selfishness. Reset of the reasons are secondary.

@owencooktech I was a Nokia fan back then. When I heard the news that Nokia is selling it's mobile division to MS I was shocked as well as angry. So did some research on that and read lots of articles and almost everyone was pointing fingers at Stephane Eloph. I can sum up the situation. He was an EX MS employee and Nokia brought him as CEO. Back then Nokia was struggling with Symbian so the dev team was also developing MeeGo alongside Symbian and released Nokia N9 but Eloph shut down both projects and made an exclusive deal with MS. Later Nokia's sale declined more and ultimately forced the business to sell. Insted of breaking the deal and go with Android he completely sold the division and he got a higher spot in the MS. You can check Cold Fusion's video regarding this for more info.
