Did you know some BMW engines don’t need throttle valves? These valves are used to regulate how much air an engine gets, and thus how much power it makes. The more you press the accelerator pedal, the more the throttle valve opens. BMW uses a different strategy, which requires a complex system called valvetronic. This offers theoretically infinite intake valve opening variations, by using a worm gear that rotates a cam to various positions.

Some Ford V8 engines cost $3000 to change spark plugs. Why? Because they made an engine with three threads holding the spark plugs in and were blowing plugs out of the head so some smart engineer thought making the plug longer (much longer) was a good idea. Now they get stuck in the head and you have to remove the heads from the engine, take them to a machine shop to have the broken part of the plug removed.

I own a BMW with valvetronic. I have better throttle response in the car than I’ve had in several other naturally aspirated cars. Its fun to joke about things breaking but the tech works, the car is extremely responsive. On the racetrack i had a charge pipe explode on me and i was still able to drive the car hone without issue because i still had throttle control. Valvetronic saved me that day.

That short throttle body clip is a 70 mm S2 alpha series throttle body for a d-series vtec and non vtech. While adding airflow, the TB shown in the video also allows the Throttle Position Sensor (commonly seen in autos) to be bypassed. This tells us that the honda is stock manual or it is an automatic - manual conversion. This part only fits a ported intake stock d16y8/d16z6 manifold or an Skunk2 70mm pro series intake manifold. You’re also gonna wanna get the brackets.

@Cragified
@Cragified 6 ай бұрын
Many modern diesels do in fact have throttle bodies. Not because they are needed to control engine RPM but mostly for emissions and helping things like the EGR work more efficiently. There are secondary advantages to having a throttle body as well as it enables engine braking without requiring a third valve set or special cam timing. (Mostly for passenger cars, 'jake' brakes are still more effective for trucks). Another advantage is not needing a vacuum pump accessory to provide a vacuum source, again handy in a passenger car setup.

And for those that don't, the majority will only park within 5 spaces from the front, anymore and I assume they drive around until one opens up

No he doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that fiat or fca have technology. He'll cover failure prone mechanical systems that slide camshafts around and only have 2 settings but he wont talk about a system that need very fast logic to adjust the valve closing time during a single stroke of the engine. In fairness the Prius also has a system like this and i think caterpillar developed one, multiair is different only in that it uses a. Early closing instead of a late closing so instead of reversion it vacuums down the mixture which could conceivably be used to cool the engine, or extract latent heat to assist combustion and the early closing system also allow the engine to run as a normal camshaft when there is a failure.
@ThisRandomUsername
@ThisRandomUsername Жыл бұрын
@@danieldimitri6133 The vacuum thing didn't occur to me before, and it's a good point. Perhaps it also helps actually vaporise the fuel, but I believe modern engines are already very good at that. Are you talking about the Prius' Atkinson cycle engine? That is a great use of that cycle because there's electric assist to make up for the power loss.
