A year ago Wisk did their first public demo flight at Long Beach, CA. Take a look at the video. You can see the tail booms and horizontal stabilizer shaking. Wanna go for a ride? These are super thin carbon fiber prototypes, and they are not designed to carry anything. Wisk claims they've been at it 14 years, this one being "Gen 6"??? Never going to happen. People forget this has tried before without the "E". They're call helicopters. EVTOL's face same logistics and high cost parts (12 rotor heads all needing Part 91 inspections, 6 tilt, at 100 hours, LOL). It's all hype to milk tax dollars. The first one to rain down in a molten fireball of lithium (think airborne Tesla) the party is over. Wisk CEO claims that "controlled flight into terrain" is the number one cause of aircraft accidents. It's 6%. Take everything else with a grain of salt.

So, a 14CFR Part 135 operation, but with no pilot? How is that going to go down?

Safe flights do not mean autonomous/unmanned flights. Unmanned flight idea is solely based on cost cutting, i.e. greed for money (excepting military drones).

All they need to do now is convince people its safe to trust their lives on. What do machines do in an emergency? Hmm, seems like all those propeller on the back of the wing would produce a lot of drag without providing any forward thrust.

Former Boeing Everett.... we have made aircraft and helicopters that can fly unassisted for a long time... autopilot is just that... auto without the pilot... I prefer a human behind the joystick... but many say they are just along for the ride...

The FAA will never allow this. You can't even get close to drones to do this legally. Putting people on a drone is a different level. Maybe in 50 or 75 years.

Looks like extremely risky business. What would be price of a flight, how much the plane should cost?

This is like Ocean Gate travels. Only in the air this time.

Hmm, aircraft that fly normally only need pilots when `Sheet happens`, so I'm interested to see what their security and safety measures are put in place... My brother in law was an ex-airline pilot and readily admits that a pilot on modern airliners is there for the 0.1% of the time when the `systems` don't work. Any one remember when Chesley `Sully` Sullenberger was outperformed by computers? Neither do I... And no pilot on the ground managed to fly the plane, either. What are expected to be `acceptable` fatalities from autonomous aircraft flight?

Being "0.1% of the time when the systems don't" work does not make sense.

@@legioner9 Yeah, how can anyone understand 1 out of a thousand. It's obviously too little of a number for anyone to understand.

Safest flights are with human pilots. And forever will be. Programming can not compensate for all the variations that can occur during a flight. Autopilot has its limitations for a reason. And forever will have.

YES. Autonomous is the only way. Even pilots with thousand of hours make tragic and fatal mistakes. The logic to fly a plane is a lot simpler than in a car. The integration with current technologies in the hard part. If you dont want to change everything, you will need an AI that understand what people are saying on the radio and make decisions based on that. I was thinking of the movie Independence Day. When the ufo get close to the mothership, the mother ship takes over the controls. Thats exactly the way it should work. You seat on the plane and the tower control your plane until you are out of the airspace, then when you get out, the plane starts making decisions. When you get to your destination airspace, the other towers takes over again. Due to the technology limitation in batteries, I believe planes should use a jeta generator to fill out the batteries. The batteries should only be enough for about 30 minutes. With electric engines and batteries, if something happens to the generator, you have enough to land safely. Electric engines are a lot more safer that a gas one. I cant wait. I would love to have a plane like this. It will have only one screen, like in a tesla. Just select the destination on the map and enjoy.

@@vikashkthakur Well thank you. I am just a frustrated student pilot. If you dont fly in 2 weeks , you should not fly. You drive every day. But if you are not instructor, how many times can you really fly? Flying will never be second nature, unless your daddy show you how to pilot a plane when your were 7 years old. Commercial airlines SUCK. I want a private SAFE option.

@@yacahumax1431 I get that, not getting to fly can get frustrating. But it is a long journey before human rated UAVs so to say, would become a commercial thing. Independence day aliens are an interstellar species after all.
