....This ain't that hard to explain. 1: Trunks' hair being longer is just a sign of time passing. His hair may simply grow faster than most. Not like we have perfect knowledge of hybrids after all. 2: Piccolo changing the color or his waistband.... I mean does that matter? A color change isn't that big a deal. 3: Trunks could have fixed his sword or have gotten a new one. Don't think being the son of the richest woman in the world would limit his options.

Here's why I agree with you Obviously, time has to pass because why in the hell would they decide to have a tournament right after Cell comes? That would easily be controversial. And with Piccolo, we know he can change the clothes on people, so it's not unlikely that he just switched the color. And with Chi Chi being pregnant, she could be around 4-5 months pregnant, before any substantial changes.

Out of all the movies, Bojack Unbound fits perfectly within the timeline of the main story despite being non-canon and is therefore the most plausible of the bunch. When compared to the other movies, the inconsistencies brought up/displayed don't seem all that ridiculous. The inconsistencies you point out are explained fairly easily (no disrespect, of course :) ): 1) Piccolo's belt? A literal red herring if there ever was one. Next. 2) Trunks' hair? Judging by the dialogue in the movie (what Bulma said when she was talking to Chi Chi), Trunks dispatched of the Androids and Cell in his timeline, stayed in his timeline to help rebuild Earth (a few months to year) and probably grew his hair out during that time before he returned to the "past" to let everyone know the good news. Considering he grew his hair out in what appeared to be less than a year in the time chamber, that gives him more than enough time to grow it out before a return trip to the past. For further support, his build matches that of his 23 year old self when he defeated Future Cell, so there's a good chance Trunks is this age in the film. While delivering the good news to his friends and family of the main timeline a few months or so after defeating Future Cell/Androids (again, giving him all the time he needs to grow his hair out), the others told him of the tournament, and he jumped at the opportunity participate. Plausible indeed. 3) Trunks' sword? First off, his mother owns the DBZ version of Tesla. Secondly, she fixed Android 16 (and managed to remove his bomb). A much, much more complicated task. She most likely had the material just lying around to patch up Trunks' sword, to say the very least. Very plausible, easily explained. Not only is this movie possible, it should have been it's own arc/mini-arc in the same vein as the Garlic Jr. saga, which, by the way, gave us a glimpse into what it would look like with Gohan as the main protector in the absence of Goku, just as this film did. Not canon, but it's damn possible to fit this movie in the main timeline. EDIT: All this and I forgot to mention the massive gap in which this movie could take place...between the conclusion of the Cell games and the start of the Buu Saga.

Only this time, his rage manifests in the form of SSJ2. That and just the writers dramatizing the story. It wouldn't be any fun if he wiped out the villain right off the bat, would it?

I have been heavily pondering this recently. I think the story would have worked a whole lot better as an original canon arc as opposed to a movie. As you said, there are numerous linking plot point from the Cell games so the groundwork is already there, but they could've been developed so much more into even greater things with ample time, hell if the Bojack arc was a thing and it was placed before the Buu arc then maybe the story's shift towards Gohan as the MC would've been smoother and much more accepted because to some degree thats what whole back end of the movie was about wasn't it? but anyway, that's just my five cents

This one is by far my favourite DBZ movie. Broly and Fusion Reborn are my second favourites. The thing about this movie it's the timeline actually makes sense. Goku died, Gohan is the strongest warrior, Trunks still has his long hair so he didn't return to the future yet, Vegeta it's not interested in fighting, and BoJack was released because of Kaio's death. So this movie can happen.

I like the idea of Trunks going forward in time, dealing with the androids and then coming back for one last visit. That's what he intended to do anyway when he was ambushed by Cell in the original original timeline. So it makes sense he'd come back again and fixes his hair/sword issue. Now why he'd go back to just after he left instead of using San Dimas time I can't really explain. Maybe he knew about the tournament and wanted to partake.

he didnt keep up his training, its never stated that he didnt train, he just didnt seriously train he likely did enough to keep his powers at what they were, and chichi allowing goten to train gives me the impression that she'd be fine with gohan training as she even says its him getting exercise. also why wouldnt he want to compete? hes never fought for the fun of fighting maybe before he decided to not train as seriously he opted to test himself to see if he did enjoy fighting for fun. Not alot is known about the 7 year time skip between cell and buu but gohan was out of shape bt was still very easily able to transform into both a super saiyan and the 2nd level, and he was able to fight on par with dabura for a while. that shows he did train a bit but because he likely didnt spar his instincts were all off as stated by vegeta.

Majority of the movies do not fit within the canon timeline. They are suppose to be alternate time lines or “what ifs” Dead Zone-What if Garlic Jr came to Earth before Raditz (reason it does not fit in the canon timeline cuz Gohan showed his hidden power in front of Goku and Piccilo. If it did fit, then they wouldnt have been surprised about it during the battle with Raditz) World’s Strongest-What if the Sayians after Raditz never arrived or arrived much later after Goku’s revival (Goku knew the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb, Piccilo was an unlikely ally that only Gohan fully trusted) The Tree of Might-what if Goku arrived in time to save his friends from the Sayians. Or the others died but Goku arrived in time to save Piccilo. (Piccilo and the humans are alive and Goku knows King Kai’s techniques) Lord Slug-What if Goku did not have to go to Namek cuz again, his friends never died or he did to to Namek and Frieza was not around yet. This is because Gohan has his bowl cut and none of the humans besides Krillin appear in this movie. Cooler’s Revenge-This is a possible movie that could possibly fit into the timeline, as he it could’ve happened during the 3 years of training before the Androids. The only thing about is why Goku didnt use SSJ right away when Cooler was even stronger than Frieza. The “what if” could be if Goku beat Frieza with the Spirit Bomb. Metal Cooler-What if Vegeta and Piccilo killed Android 20 before he could activate the other androids. Android 13-What if 17 and 18 were either destroyed or deactivated by the Z fighters. Broly-This is another movie that could fit in the canon timeline, as it could’ve happened during the 10 days of rest before the Cell Games Bojack-This is another movie that may have fit, as it could’ve happened after Cell was defeated but before Trunks left Return of Broly-Hard to put this story, as Gotenks never appears despite needing his power and Gohan is already close with Videl, who knows how to fly and Goku is dead. Vegeta is not around either. So the what if could be Buu was killed by Vegeta’s explosion. Fusion Reborn-What if Gotenks beat Fat or Super Buu since Goku is dead and Vegeta is in Hell. Also, Gotenks appears in this movie and can turn SSJ. Final Z Movie-Happens after Kid Buu’s defeat.

Can’t wait! Seeing that death on the screen and the fact we never see him again truly does leave me a bit hazed. It does pound home the fact of him being a full mechanical type though...He’s an actually Android. Until 17 and 18 who are Cyborgs and Cell who’s a Biological Android. I’m gonna miss our gentle giant forever. He didn’t deserve to be done in that way. The flashing is still in my memory...and the end.

this is one of the very few Z movies that can happen, 1 goku is dead, 2) trunks defeated all the androids and cell in his timeline and 3) mr.satan is famous for killing cell 4) vegeta doesnt want to fight anymore. thus trunks returning to the past to tell everyone the androids and his cell were dead isnt to far fetched, its established in resurrection F that bulma and future trunks were able to communicate somehow (its on the DVD i believe, and alot of Z tubers have mentioned that scene, and bulma clearly knew trunks now had blue hair somehow) so him returning, gohan entering to test himself and train more is understandable as is chi-chi letting him as she did let goten train instead of study all the time, thus it fits very easily in the timeline plus goku and the kaio gang are in the same place as they are at the end of the last episode we see future trunks somewhere on snakeway. so it makes complete sense that this movie is in the timeline.

I appreciate the question mark ⁉️ and splitting hair reference because of course picalo can just be wearing a different belt and trunk could have either gotten his sword fixed or traveled to the future again, chalked kid trunks who just got pikons sword to a match to decide who gets the sword, and then while future trunks uses the good old “ hey look a distraction” distraction, he beats up kid trunks and takes the sword. And THATS why kid trunks doesn’t have a sword in super!

sorry mate, this movie can happen trunks could have easily gone back to his timeline spent a year there, and returned to the current timeline without much time having passed, piccolo could just use another belt and the sword could have just been fixed or replaced

I don't understand why don't bring up the fact that Gohan somehow forgot how to go Super Saiyan 2 in the Bojack movie like you pointed out with Goku's Super Saiyan in the Cooler movie. It's not a skill he can only tap into when under extreme pressure. Right after Cell comes back we see Gohan go SS2 at will, so the fact that he just forgot how to do this after so little time passed just doesn't make any sense to me.

@@adambump5297 No, and I will explain you why: -In Dead Zone Bulma, Muten and Crilin met Goku who told them that his son was kidnapped by Garlick and Crilin even helped rescue him, but in the Raditz Saga it's stated that Goku has not met them since five year and they had no idea that Goku had son. Also Piccolo and Goku revelead to each other that they wear weighted clothes when fighting Garlick, but againts Raditz they are once gain surprised by learining it, as if it the first time. -In Cooler's revenge Goku is not able to transform into Super Saiyan at will and need a rage boost to trasform, which contradicts the canon series where Goku is shown and stated to be able to trasform at will when he met Future Trunks immediately after returning on Earth from Yardrat.

Maybe Bojack Unbound can’t happen because this isn’t the first time King Kai’s planet was destroyed. Whis mentions that Beerus destroyed it when he lost a game of hide and seek and King Kai had it recommissioned in its smaller state. If Beerus destroyed it before then why didn’t Bojack escape then?
