in Serbia, there's loads of issues with dating. Most important is the fact that the country is poor, standard of living is just hovering above average, so young people tend to be forced to delay their independence, if they ever get it anyway. That means girls live with their parents and are thusly under their command for longer than it should be. So, for you, an outsider, that kind of game is often a gauntlet of challenges in which you must prove yourself to be able to handle stuff like racism and bigotry of boomer parents, and always being second fiddle, all while being frustatingly stretched between your partner and your parents, and both demand your unconditional attention. A related issue is the "tradionalism" mindset that still dominates the place, so if you're not a guy who ticks most of the socially acceptable boxes that are only imposed locally, your options are VERY limited. Once you've cleared all that and are actually dating a person, you're gonna have to be prepared to never show emotions, never complain, and always do what you're told. You're very likely going to abandon whatever hobbies you have because you need to be a responsible pillar of the household.

I am a Finnish woman +40 years old and always paid my own share on dates. Here - specially at the beginning of the relationship - the bill is usually always split. I would have felt uncomfortable to let the man pay. Different then if you are in a serious relationship, for a birthday dinner etc. I have let the man pay as a gift. And sometimes as a student if I did not really have money to go on a date, I would not tell the guy, I would just say: "Lets go for a cup of tea or a coffee" so I could afford to pay for myself at least.. 😊

Sometimes I think our society started to turn upside down. Some women are even offended if men try to pay for them. Ridiculous. Imo this is a nice gesture, it's part of the "dance of seduction". It may be simplistic but I figure the one who invites pays the bill. If you are dating the same person regularly, then there is no invitation made ... it is just assumed. In that case, the bill is split. It's rude to invite someone out and then expect them to pay. They are your guest. You pay.

It depends, imo most girls won't ask guys out even if they are crushing hard on said person, it's expected for guys to ask or make the first move. If it's a mutual interest I think it should be split, regardless of who asks whom. I've always paid my own way therefore I wouldn't feel indebted or have any expectations put on me later on - if you know what I mean lol.

@@kitsulu8576 On the first date I would expect the girl at least to try to take out her wallet and give the guy the chance to say: let me treat you. It's really the gesture what counts. I think it's really if you live in the city or country side. When I lived in the country, things were a lot more slow. But it was odd, I kinda liked it more. Kindness was shown much more. Girls there were a lot more polite honestly. In the city, it's "go go go". No one has time for anything and it becomes "me me me" which is sad but very true. City life and country life just has its own vibe. And I think that's the big difference there. You interviewed people in the city and not the country side. Of course, I'm not familiar with the modern Japanese culture also. But in the states, city and country life, you meet two completely different type of females lol. And it's really due to the nature of the environment. (For the most part)

In the United States there are women that will go out with you because they want you to take them to a expensive restaurant and have a nice meal. They only go out with you because they want somebody to pay for the expensive restaurant. Then there are women who go out and dates with you just because they want to eat. Some of these girls are just have tight finances but some to spend their money on a lot of needless things and no they can go out on dates with guys and have them pay. For men we try to weed out the girls that are just they're trying to get a free meal and not interested in pursuing relationships. I don't mind going shopping with women when they just want a man's opinion... and they are paying for it themselves. There are some women that think just because you've been out with them once or twice that the two of you are in a relationship working towards engagement and nuptials. But when you can find a female friend you like hanging out with you often go dutch. There is a nice respect and you go catch a movie or go to dinner one time I'll pay next time they pay... that's how I my current girlfriend started dating and now we are a close couple. But we already knew each other many years ago in college. I tried the dating sites but so many of them have false profiles and are trying to find someone desperate to scam that I have canceled my subscriptions as a waste of time. There is a lot of catfishing going on in American dating sites.

Man paying the bill is normal in many countries. A boy who wants women to pay her own food looks really bad. He is not going to succeed in many countries. A man can go shopping and be a style advisor. You beter be good, because if you advise her to buy something that looks ugly, later she may go back for shopping again. So if you go shopping, find clothes that have a balance between style and price. You need to understand fashion and have good taste. Being part of a shopping process with your wife is a great way to bond and share together. A man can enjoy shopping. If you design a character you may like to give the best style. A date is similar but with a real person. A man can enjoy shopping, it does not destroy masculinity, it allows to bond and share moments together.

I think when you are interested on the girl, you don't mind pay all the bills for the first two or three dates, but when you keep paying and the girl not even bother to say something it's really annoying and frustrating. In my country some girls think like "Oh, I spend a lot of money on makeup, shoes, dresses, etc. At least the guy has to pay the bill" if it was some kind of obligation, but if we start to "compare the score ", the guy might say "I spend watch, belt, shoes, suit, car, gas, etc. In fact, if we keep going, you'll probably owe me money." Another horrible habit is measuring a man's worth based on what he has, in other words a gold digger. In my opinion when a woman chooses a man based on his material possessions, she has to be prepared to be treated like one.

Hahaha guys who think this way are ridiculous really cuz men most of the time choose women by their looks, men like women who wear make up and dress fashionable.. for most men they fall in love at first sight, most men decide wether they like a woman or not just by using their eyes. However, no on says men are materialistic and shallow? I know many men recognize the inside beauty of a woman but that’s only afterward. looks are the deal breaker, if the girl is cute they date her if she has a good personality that’s just a bonus, she just need to be less than normal in terms of personality to get herself a boyfriend if she is pretty. But when if comes to women who judge men by how much they make (even though this is something men are responsible of, unlike beauty where it’s mostly genetic stuff) you guys start complaining and calling those women materialistic lol, double standards.

Unlike the US, Japan is stricter about keeping high schoolers "responsibly" separate, so there's less chance for boys and girls to get to know each other, and get over their prepubescent fears of the opposite sex--Guys in sports might say "Girls are boring, I don't have time!", or the curious might obsess over things like glasses or ponytails they see from a distance, while girls might develop a symbolic contempt for dating and go tsundere (another idea of nervous boys), or form girl-school crushes from their own close associations.

It is like "Why would a guy have to pay just because of his gender??" I am a woman +40 years old and always paid my own share on dates. I would have felt uncomfortable to let the man pay. Different then if you are in a serious relationship, for a birthday dinner etc. I have let the man pay as a gift.

Been living in Japan for over 5 years now, and the number one thing they annoys me is that men have the obligation to prepare everything about the date, instead of doing things together. By example, she wants to go to a restaurant she saw posts on Insta that you never heard about. Then you take her there and she asks "nani wo tabeyou ka naa?" (what are we going to eat?) You, never ate there. You don't know what's good or what's not. And when you answer "omise no osusume de ii jyanai?" (The chef's recommendation is good, right?) She says you're cold and don't care about being with her together sharing such a good emotional moment, on which you are going to pay anyways..

gosh.. it's like I am reading a line from shoujo manga x.x indeed annoying 🥲 it;s always more fun to find out where to go or prepare together date. thou it's really flattering and nice feeling when a guy surprises with date location.. But, to expect him everytime knowing everything, and all places you want to go and check up before ahead - rlly mendokusai 😅

I am not Japanese and this mindset is weird to me. Why would she automatically assume you're cold and uncaring just because you don't know what to eat since you've never been there??? Good emotional moment??? What???? I am female too and this just sounds like a pain. lol

Takashi would hate dating American women then, most of them expect you to pay for everything and they will even ghost you after the date at times. Its really rude lol Dating in America is a lot worse. When I lived in Germany, dating there was a lot easier.

I actually hate celebrating things such as velantines day. I dislike all "holidays" like this. Why should I feel obligated to do something special on this day when I could be making someone feel special on any day I choose. Even if I do something for the girl on multiple other days, there is still the feeling of obligation to do it that day also. It's like, even if I took the girl out for dinner every week of the year, if there still wasn't something done on valentines day then there is that negative connotation that lingers. I really, really dislike this.

Never really had that issue about splitting. In fact I remember one of my dates paying for me instead. I only start doing that if we are long term and I want to treat my partner. I think this whole thing about men paying, started because in the olden times men were the income makers. It was one of those things that guys could take pride in.

In Malaysia, at least the Malaysian Chinese girls will follow me to the counter and fidget around her purse and pretend like she would pay. I dated a German girl once, and she wanted to split the bill and I didn't let her (because I was bullied for splitting the bill in Asia once as a kid) and I paid for the German girl anyway but after the payment she whispered to me and told me to give her my IBAN so that she can transfer the money. Well we kept contact for a few months, but she never sent the money over, so IDK? I dated a Kazakhstani girl, and she didn't follow me to the counter at all, but just stood behind far away waiting, and I paid for everything. so It was interesting to experience all of this, I guess. ++But the funny thing was the German girl was arguing with me to split the bill, and I was so confused.

What I hate about dating? When I was young I was a normal student with almost no money. I used the little money I had to invite he to the theater to watch a movie and suddenly she started to talk about her exboyfriend who had a Mercedes Benz, and I wondered "what am I doing here?". If she wanted me to step up and try to compete with him, she dated the wrong guy If she wanted to be with him, she just have to call him. I never had a date with her again.

Haven't been on dates but having polarized views seems to annoy me a lot. If I had to choose between two girls one being a screaming counter values who also has an hourglass figure or a girl that shares similar values and has a banana figure. I'd choose banana every time. If you want temporary pleasure the go for someone who doesn't have your values. Long term pleasure and peace are from people who support similar values.

That's definitely a universal thing, men don't want women to pay on the first date, but we definitely would like it if she pump faked for the bill, we like that little fight for the bill, it shows initiative and willingness to contribute and that you're not a leech.
@thedevguy42722 жыл бұрын
I don’t really like that, because it feels like a fake gesture a leech would use. I typically buy a coffee for both of us and to see if we’re actually compatible, then invite to some restaurant for the second. There is no feeling of owing me anything on her side then, and not much of my time or money is wasted.

Why not include a link to Takashi's channel in the description for the video? That's standard practice. I have no idea who he is, but the comments are full of "ooh, it's Takashi!" stuff, so I'm curious.
@stillfangirlingtoday14682 жыл бұрын
That is literally the name of his channel, if you search for it, it wouldn't be hard to find it. Takashi from Japan or something like that. (though I agree KZbinrs should practice that courtesy, it isn't as standard as you make it sound sadly)
@Rokudaimedono2 жыл бұрын
@@stillfangirlingtoday1468 Thanks, I'll look him up! I was serious when I said it's standard practice, as that has been my experience with pretty much every youtube channel I've ever viewed; if another youtuber show's up in one of that channel's videos, then a link to that youtuber's own channel is provided. I'm surprised to hear it's not as common as I thought. I guess I just happen to frequent alot of channels run by courteous people then. :-P

@@Rokudaimedono I would assume that to be the case, because I have had my fair share of digging up the other creator if I found them interesting, no description links or pinned comments. When they link the channel and even social media, what a treat it is.

Its definitely the paying game. American women pretend they're independent until the bill comes. I myself am more traditional and don't mind paying but if the date consists of a girl constantly having to state she is an independent women I will not pay and I will split the bill. If they don't like that I know they're not worth my time. you have to be consistent with your views. As a traditional man I'll state that and as a modern women I believe they should also stand by their beliefs.
