So agree with you on not compromising with the cost, safety and sound build of your cabin. We all learn by others mistakes. You have a great head on your shoulders; and have come a long way and are doing so well with your content. We are all inspired with each and every video. It is remarkable how your English language is quite perfect, but yet you stop yourself and question knowing you may have the wrong word or usage. So impressed by your brave spirit and endless energy to keep moving and building forward as you develop yourself within your channel. Wishing you, Christine, and your fur babies the most joyous holidays, with comfort and warmth!

Regarding the size - unless someone's actually standing inside it, it's looked really small every time you've shown it on one of your videos. Even in this video with you two sitting at the end of the new cabin, it still looks really tiny. Then you cut to you standing inside it, and suddenly it looks a lot bigger 🙂

The varnished wooden material in your triangles is known as 'Oriented Strand Board' (OSB) here in the UK. It's much stronger than the decades old-style chipboard & therefore better suited for flooring, in much the same way that concrete is far stronger than mortar, because of the inclusion of shingle or gravel.

You should take a look at a ’solventilator’, i.e. a solar driven ventilator, the ones I have seen on Clas Ohlson for example both ventilate and heat, or just ventilate. The largest one I have seen is 100 w, that should be plenty enough to keep the air fresh inside, even in winter.

Hi Kalle! First of All: Thanks a lot for your Videos! They're incredibly inspiring and making my dream place to live feel a little bit closer with each new idea I can see you implementing. But for what I actually wanted to share: I'm living in Innsbruck /Austria, having a flat in the city that is neighter heatable by gas or wood. And electricity happens to be crazy expensive sadly, especially with a badly insulated appartment. So with temperatures going to -15-20°C it get's fairly cold.. So to heat as little as possible we searched for a solution, that would FEEL warm as fast as possible and keep the warmth in thermal mass rather than in actually heated air. Long story short, we switched out all the heating to infra-red paneels over the time, costing us far less and making the flat feel like 22°C, with the air actually only having around 18°C. Compared to radiators, where we actually heated to aroudn 25°C to actually feel cosy. (The difference is in heating object via radiation (like a bonfire, heating the side facing the fire. Compared to heating the air and whirling that warm air through the room) Maybe it's an Idea to consider or test at a friends place :) Good luck and fun with your build! Looking forward to see more of it! All the best greetins from Innsbruck!

@KalleFlodin In my bedroom, I have got an old wooden window frame with single glaze glass, so it gets incredibly cold during the winter without an efficient method of heating the space up. My dad got me a convection heater which works tremendously well! My room is toasty! I would recommend you getting one of them. My one cost around £25. I would also recommend you getting a TP Link smartplug so you can create an automation that turns your heater on 30 minutes before you need to go into the A-frame every day. I hope this helps you 🙂 Alex

Stayed for a while with friends who lived in a 2 story A frame built in the 70's I think. Wonderful place, wouldn't mind owning one.
@kvalvagnes2 жыл бұрын
The point of the A-frame is the structure itself - you can use very slender beams to make it - it will still be strong. So you could use 148x36mm normal wood - thats much cheaper than these made beams. Less insulation - but with a small volume you dont need more. Then for the same outside measurements you would get 29% more usable floorspace and 57% more volume in the A-frame - and it would be much cheaper and easier to build. The energy consumption will be influenced by the ventilation needed; bec the volume is tiny - you need good ventilation when staying there - and need a heat exchanger to not make the crow warm...

It looks awesome, looking forward to seeing it finished! However, you may want to talk to your kommun regarding permit if you haven't done so already. One of the prerequisites for establishing a small building without a permit is that it is located in the immediate vicinity of the main house. They may not care out there in the woods, but better safe than sorry, considering the time and cost you are going to put into it.

Cut the labour from that cost and do everything yourself from this point on. It’s not hard. 45k euro is way too much for what you are building here (even if that includes labour, just too much). And the fact that you are estimating that cost, and not saying that you will 100% fit into that price is saying that you are getting ripped off somewhere probably too.

@kvalvagnes2 жыл бұрын
If you really want to build effective and cheap the A-frame is not a good solution. It has really big area of roof - roof is expensive. If you used normal vertikal walls the effective space would be much bigger for the materials used. Walls could be thinner - and give more effective floor space. Also when you are going to sit with big screens agains a wall that leans inward it will be problematic. The bank - the more real measurable space you can get for the money - the easier it will be to get a loan. A tiny bathroom and kitchen would make a real minihouse that could make money and obtain a loan. The the ark you build to get a good window - and also usable space - costs a lot extra work and money - compared to a vertical wall building. The flat roof could be a terrace.
