If your neighborhood has a cat problem I recommend calling a local shelter about a rescue TNR group and maybe ask to set up a date for a TNR session. Helps keep the kitten population in check.

The Dawn soap is an entirely different issue. The Dawn soap used for the Deepwater Horizon disaster cleanup was good for the BIRDS, but it doesn't mean it works on everything. The issue with the birds was the fact that the crude oil would cover them so they couldn't fly and they couldn't swim, and then they would drown or suffocate, so Dawn was good because it could strip the crude oil off without removing the water-wicking oil from their feathers underneath (because as climate change gets worse, the opposite is actually starting to happen, where soapy bubbles can be whipped up on beaches, and if birds get caught in these, they can essentially be "over-cleaned" and without the oils in their feathers that allow them to be waterproof, they can drown or they can become hypothermic due to the water temperature.) Animals have different uses for different oils, as well as different skin types. So Dawn is friendly on birds, even as cleanup STILL continues because BP doesn't give a shit, but I wouldn't put it on anything that it hasn't explicitly been used for. I wouldn't use my hair conditioner on my dog just because it works on me.

Not to hate, but rats weren't the carriers of the plague, or atleast the main ones. It was actually the ticks and fleas which often found themselves on the rats and eventually the disease moved over to humans

I actually think the Pacarana is fine, or at least it isn't feeling any pain or irritation, because it's performing the same movements it does normally when cleaning itself, if it were irritated it would likely be more frantically trying to remove the soap from its body or making distress noises or moving around quickly trying to get away, but it seems to be chilling and doing what it normally does. So it’s probably fine in that video, though you shouldn’t be washing them with soap which is true for a lot of wild animals actually.
