wow I have never heard anyone call a Tacoma "too big" before?
@chazlyle417 жыл бұрын
Peeps have been saying that since the second gen was announced. The Tacoma will never be for hauling/working like a full-size. A lot of the Tacoma crowd just want a small/nimble adventure rig.

mixflip My brother has a 2017 TRD Sport. My dad recently sold his 1998 4x4. The 2017 is noticeably bigger from the outside to looking out from the drivers seat. The size difference was the first thing that stood out the moment I drove it.

I'll say it Tacoma is too big. Why? I had a 1987 base Toyota pick up, single cab, six foot bed, four cylinder, four on the floor, carbureted. Small truck. Got stolen last year, so I bought a 2002 first generation Tacoma TRD, 2WD, automatic. Great truck, has everything my '87 didn't such as AC, cruise control, automatic gear box, automatic everything. Love it, really love the six foot bed as my truck is two door extended cab. Mine is a true mid size, this 2017 goes against the F150 and Silverado, those are large trucks, so this Tacoma is "too big."

The Chevy ZR2 has it all over the trdpro! You can get an Ext Cab with 6.5’ bed or Crew Cab 5.5’ bed or either with a Diesel! Not to mention real off road tires! The fine Goodyear Adventure Kevlar tires are what comes on a Z71 Colorado! Like mine! That all I’ve had to do is remove the air dam and install great aftermarket Bilstien Coil Overs that are 1.5” linger with more travel in front and Bilstien shocks in the rear! Along with a proven tow history over a Tacoma my cousin owned, but traded for a Z71 Diesel!

Thanks for the great review. For some reason many assume that if your going to review a truck you have to wear flannel and boots or something. I see this truck all over, owned by many different kinds of people. I know that Toyota marketing focuses on the bros, but in reality, this truck owned by many different types of people. The 3rd gen is comfortable, fun to drive, can park in a normal garage, and is super versatile. It can commute, tow, off road, and road trip, a jack of all.

Dear Steven Ewing, Toyota will not mass produce the TRD Pro Tacoma. For 2017/18 model year, will be produced a limited amount of them. To get one you will have to put a deposit with your dealership and and wait the allocation on the first come, first serve bases. To be more precise the top 25 Toyota dealers in the country will get allocated to them, between 6-10 unites per entire year. The smaller dealers will get between 2-5 bases on the volume of their sales.

This is a realistic review. The truck is great in its own way, but reconfirms my choice for the ZR2. Most All the reasons you mention is why I chose the GM.
@DarrenPersad7 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie, I do want one, but if I were to get it, it would only be to supplement my current Tacoma since I feel that Yota has lost a little of the "truck" focus with the current gen. Like I love my 4.0L V6 a lot, and even though the 3.5L Atkinson Cycle V6 isn't bad, it's just not the same experience. And the fact that the TRD Pro only comes in Double Cab and Short Bed is a bit annoying - I have an Access Cab with "Regular" Bed because I want more storage versatility and since no one ever rides in the back. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a TRD Pro with Double Cab and long bed, lifted a bit more, given some more off-road-esque features and with a larger displacement engine, and little to no tech and touch screens inside, but that's me.
@GRD2047 жыл бұрын
Darren Persad keep your 4.0 or get a TRD Pro 4runner. The ecu remap for this generation won't be out for a few years to account for erratic transmission. Look online and read the reviews the motor is good but the tranny is crap!

If you think the truck is too big and why aren't you driving a Ford Ranger or a Chevy S10 small trucks this truck is for people who want to go off road and want something that is stylish it looks awesome have the Toyota reliability. I've never heard of someone saying the truck is too big unless they're not on truck guys coming from a Honda Civic then I can see why you're saying is too big the bottom line is it's a truck it's not supposed to be like sure is it supposed to be a Workhorse that's why I trucks last longer than cars and the fuel economy of course is not the best because it's the truck

The 2017 Tacoma now has "Forced Lighting". You CANNOT turn off the lights even during the daytime. The engineers in Tokyo are now controlling. ALWAYS look at the light switch for ”DRL OFF". The Toyota dealer can disable Forced Lighting so the driver has control of the lights. Make this a condition of the sale at the time you buy.
