Why buy a 2001 Acura NSX over a brand new NSX?

As an owner of the original Acura Integra, I clearly remember when the NSX hit the streets, turning heads and dropping jaws! It is amazing that the styling has remained so aesthetically pleasing. To answer the question in your title, the original NSX distinguished itself as ‘a super car that you could do your own work on’. Fun fact about my Integra - and maybe you can verify if it’s also true of the original NSX - it came with the shop manual in addition to an owners manual. You could take apart most of the car just with a Phillips screwdriver and a 10 and 12mm socket! So if parts are available and you’re handy, that’s a HUGE reason to get a classic NSX over a new one. 😀

Enjoyed the review. Own a '91 NSX, took it out for a drive yesterday. Sunny , windows down, living da dream. Still getting thumbs up from other car buffs. I had to wait 23 years for the price to go down and have enough $$. Original owner paid 83K , 20K over list. The car was the 22nd one in the US, # 85. Mid life crisis , well if I live to be 126. Trivia, aluminum jack

Back in 2005/06 I bought a ‘92 NSX, Black, Manual, sunroof that needed some TLC. I did a complete interior restoration, although I had the leather seats done by a professional, I replaced the carpet and installed sound deadening material underneath the carpet. I wound up flipping the car after I did the interior. such a blast to drive, sat so low and everything in the interior was basic but functional. Awesome car !!

Raiti's Rides yes, that car was so fun to drive ! Mid engine layout gave you a great cornering and road hugging experience ! Used to take circular exit ramps in 3rd gear at like 50 mph and watch the cars behind me struggle to stay on the road ! Stuck like glue, miss it badly.

When first generation NSX came out, too many negative review. They said ahh carburetor still better than fuel injectors and bla bla bla... after a decade ah NSX is pure and good sport car. Now compare same year model of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini which is better daily driven And maintenance cost. Now same as new NSX too many negative reviews. Like no manual, hybrid, not good bla bla bla... Look We are going to future accept the fact.

Oh yeah the real NSX, not even the new car can come close to the charisma of this. I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they built the new one, thanks for the great in-depth look into this awesome car. I think this is one of the best , cleanest looking designs ever. Looked great when it came out , looks great now . A modern classic. Also Pop up headlights need to make a come back! I think the new NSX, Miata and Corvette would look better with them.

one correction about the engine for the first gen NA1 NSX, the engine is a Honda C30A V6 3.0L unit producing around 270bhp the NA2 second revision sees the engine bump up to 3.2L and producing 290bhp the original NA1 NSX uses a 5 speed manual and the NA2 uses the 6 speed manual if i ever win the lottery i will def snap up both the NSA NA1 and NA2

A true purist car. 2017 nsx what were they thinking? And the 2018 Ford GT is pure junk. A legacy destroyed by modern computer Ecoboost engine and automatic transmission with no type of connection to the driver. I will take an 2005 nsx and 2005 Ford GT over the new ones any day! I don't want driverless cars and tiny Ecoboost engines. I need a Viper.
