The R has had roughly 320hp. That would be crazy sweet if they brought it here! It's on the short wheelbase though, which we also don't get. We should be getting the upcoming phev version which has up to 272hp and 62 miles of range.

Couldn’t agree more, just traded in my 2022 Tiguan and it was a great vehicle just lacked the power especially changing lanes in the highway. A little hp boost would put it on par with a Q5.

At first glance, the new Tiguan reminds me of the Atlas Sport which I've always loved because of its husky shape. I've never considered a VW until now, but it needs a higher powered engine option. Hybrid is also a consideration.

Love the design. Has everything I want except power folding mirrors and 360 camera. Even has a HUD! If SEL is the top trim, I guess I’ll keep looking.

After selling for Volkswagen for 3 years, the door panels are 100% the same structure just different styling. When I saw the top of the door panel, the grab handle, the bottom half storage area is all the same.

Same. As a family with small kids the emergency third row to pick up their friends on occasion is a must. We don’t use it enough for the need of a larger three row suv. This is a real bummer.

Oh man, the ambient lighting design in the US model has been changed compared to the EU Tiguan / Tayron. How relieved I am! It looks like they minimized the speckle that is in the light design. I am so happy to see that because I really do not like what I have been seeing in the Tayron, way too much speckle lighting. In the US version I love the simplified look. Another big one is it looks like in the US version you can have two different ambient lighting colors. I am so excited to see that. Having two different colors looks so incredibly good. I was already sold on this car so seeing that one little nitpick issue I had get cleaned up is a welcomed surprise. Now to patiently wait until June 😓

I was actually hoping it would be more like the Tayron. I'm not feeling this one as much. I feel like if I got this, I'm only doing it for the ambient lighting. VW is typically my brand of choice, but some where between 2012 and 2018, I think VW has been losing their way. All their vehicles just don't seem to have the same quality anymore. Minus the ID Buzz, that seems to like it's worth it. But this is cool. Probably for a first vehicle, not sure about a replacement vehicle. Yeah, I would be willing to grab this as a first vehicle, and take the risk on reliability with a turbo engine.

Joe, can you tell Lori that my dog Shirley had tumors in her spleen & all through her liver. she wasn't eating, lost 5 pounds, she got real depressed - after 3 different Vets. one finally used a new digital x-ray & found the cause. the doctor said the tumors were spreading & surgery would kill her. so my baby was put down out of mercy. she was my best dog ever, my snuggle buddy. Bought my first Tiguan, a 2024 SE R Line Black edition 4motion in King's Red. Love it especially the power when the turbo kicks in around traffic and the suspension backs up the moves around the slower "slugs". BUT, seeing this horror story means this will also be my last Tiguan; my god it's ugley all the way to "f-ugley". And a dial knob shifter? What's with that; to make your mom more comfortable driving? No thanks!

This Tiguan looks okay, but I can’t stand that glowing red VW, eyeball headlights, and this messy interior layout. Still, it all kinda feels cheap imo and what’s with the haptic buttons?

I dont know Joe. I have some mixed feelings about it, I like the exterior better on the older Tiguan, especially the front end. This is a little too rounded and looks like the ID4. I think they made the same mistake with the new Taos, which I know you haven't reviewed yet. The interior is definitely a plus, too. But the screen is a little overwhelming even for a Gen Z like myself, lol.
