I believe her parents also instilled this value into Caitlin as a very young girl, "Let your yes be yes and your no be no." Do not waiver by what others tell you what you should do, be true to self. I stand by those same values for myself. We do not always need to explain our reason for what we decide is right for our self. Say yes or no or I will get back to you, if you want to think it over.

CC is a smart, confident young woman. She will not participate in the NBA 3 pt contest and she has clearly stated why through her agents. If the NBA keeps pushing it she’ll just issue a new press release , with a definitive NO. The NBA should invite the 2024 WNBA Allstar 3 pt winner Allisha Gray and Arike to participate. The NBA should announce their commitment to have Curry and Thompson in a special challenge competition during WNBA Allstar weekend vs Sabrina vs Caitlin. Moving forward switch the challenge contest between the NBA Allstar weekend and the WNBA Allstar weekend so that both leagues benefit from the higher interest.

I am so happy you have brought this to your platform. I have been saying this for a minute now in other places. First off let me say. I love me some Caitlin Clark. Love her game. Love what she has brought to the W. And I do not want this to come off as hating in any kind of way. And I have said that Clark owes Unrivaled or even the W nothing. She doesn't even have to play in the W and she will still make a very good living. Haven said all this, I will say that there are two things about Clark that made me scratch my head. The first was her not doing the WNBA 3 point contest last season. With the W riding a wave of popularity it had never seen before, and with Sabrina Ionescu haven taken on Steph Curry in a 3 point contest. People like me were really waiting to see Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu in the 3 point contest. But no, they both actually said no. And so what would of been huge for the WNBA never came about. Second was Unrivaled. The women's basketball league started by women. You talking about a huge opportunity to help get this new league off the ground. But then again Clark said no. Remember I said that Clark owes the WNBA or Unrivaled nothing. Well she doesn't. But she owes basketball everything. She is famous, rich and on commercials because of basketball. She could very well be the most popular athlete in America right now. Basketball has brought her to this place. Lastly I ask this question. How could a woman not want to help other women out? Not just other women. Your fellow sister ballers. How could you just sit back and say no. When you know your presence in the league will greatly help the league. You put Clark on any team in Unrivaled and you can pretty much expect to see at lease 1 million viewers. And even other games she's not playing in will do well just because she's in the league and some of those who follow her will stick around to watch other games. Like what happened in the W this past season. Clark, you should of helped your sisters out and joined Unrivaled.

I would advise her to do nothing that hurts her brand. If she does not want to shoot off of a rack, then don't do it. If the contest allows her to use an assistant so she can catch and shoot, then go for it. Once an athlete looses their aura, they cannot get it back. Doing something that is new to you, even in an exhibition will damage her in the long run.

CC is a superstar now! Every thing she does or say has serious implications. What concerns me is how the media and people uses her for their narratives. It was terrible and disgusting to see all the haters bash her Including ladies in the WNBA. My concern is she is being pitted against the NBA because she refused to participate in the three point shooting contest with Steph, Klay, and Sabrina. I just hope the players do not start listening to all the media and begin turning on her, like, some of the WNBA players did. It’s sad because no matter what she does everyone is going to twist it. In the end, I hope her superstar power will right the ship.

2 Questions asked by Adrienne. 1. Caitlin said no and I believe she should stick to it. 2. Am I comfortable in my own skin? Yes, but I am old and ugly now so maybe that doesn't means as much. However I managed people for over 50 years and I learned early that it is better to say no as opposed to overcommitting, and I learned that this is a problem for most people. One of my ongoing efforts with subordinates (manager or rank and file) was to coach them on saying No! In some cases I was not able to completely develop this skill in them, and those I had to continually monitor and sometimes had to say "No!" for them.

She can tell everyone to take a hike. Why should she save the NBA all star weekend or Unrivaled after all the hate & vitriol spewed at her, the lack of support shown to her, the failure of the WNBA to share even one positive thing about her not to mention the atrocious refs basically allowing players to assault her during games with no penalties? And there still has been nothing publicly announced that the NBA or the WNBA commissioners are doing anything at all to clean up the league. Until we hear that the WNBA has new refs, 9 inch nails are no longer allowed, strict penalties will be called on dirty players, and fines will be imposed on unsportsmanlike behavior then I hope Caitlin continues to refuse these people who want to profit off her.

She's got a great team around her. There's no way a 22-year-old human being can operate on the national stage under this much pressure. A lot of celebrities have self-destructed under less. We heard her admit to seeing a therapist. Plus, she has sports agents, publicists, and lawyers. I also think her father has a lot of good advice for her. IMHO, her public image appears to be textbook 'image management'. I like how she plays coy when organizations pursue her, and she waits until the last minute to turn them down, keeping her name in the news. Also, she stays out of the public eye during the off season, building suspense for the big reveal of the regular WNBA season. Then, she makes a rare appearance in short training videos, or she appears at a sporting event, causing those small clips go mega viral. When she gets attacked, she stays above the fray, letting others defend her. Most importantly, she avoids politics and activism that would turn fans against her. Every celebrity and sports star should follow this path. When she retires, if she then wants to go into politics, she'll have a lot of goodwill behind her.

There is a stupidly easy solution to satisfy the 'catch and shoot'. Have your partner grab from the rack and throw the ball to you in rapid-fire mode, then switch. FOCUS: It speaks to her focus…which is better than anyone’s I’ve seen recently. She has the focus level of greatness. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant level greatness of focus. CONFIDENCE: She’s extremely confident in her decisions. Nobody is going to direct her to do something she doesn’t see as right for her, the team, her trajectory, etc. TEAM PLAYER: She feels responsible for those around her that she leads. Unrivaled would not only put her at risk, but being who she is, it would put their entire team and organization at risk. They are building EVERYTHING around her because winning is their goal. She is a perfect steward of that responsibility by saying no to unrivaled. Her no to the 3-pt contest shows how much she feels responsible for the fans at Indy and the team’s growth. She wants her first participation in that format to be for THEM.

CC22 is a very high IQ person who knows she very highly sought after and has to be careful in all of her decision making. It’s so many snakes all around her and probably very few genuine people who what to see her do well.
