I think that ging is such a genius at nen in a way he just understands the underlying principles of how nen is manipulated for these simple striking abilities. He understands it so well that he can reverse engineer the ability. Its similiar to how a nen user may have a nen ability in mind and then works to get that outcome but much faster. He knows what the final outcome of the nwn ability should look like and figures out he needs to manipulate his nen to get the effect
@crazyscarecrow813611 күн бұрын
Bingo. He doesn't really "copy" abilities, it's more that he emulates their effects with creative use of aura. Like when he "copied" Leorio's ability, it wasn't actually a copy because he didn't teleport his fist like the original. He just transmitted raw aura to achieve the same effect in the simplest way.

I think this skill is related to his skill at the pip-play game. Ging was shown to be insanely good at it and then immediately after shows this crazy 'talent' of copying simple abilities. The two could be related. Because punch-type abilities are so simple, they might be able to be reproduced simply by shaping your aura. Most people don't have the nen dexterity needed to do more than just change the shape of the aura around the body but with enough training Ging may be able use those skills to develop something that looks like a hatsu without the commitment a hatsu requires. I doubt Ging would have gotten that good at a game like that if it was as useless as the members of Beyond's crew said.

my headcannon is that Ging is a "Nen hunter", he goes after every kind of nen to learn about it, run experiments and perfect it. Years of experience, talent and training gave him what we see

Question: How come more people don't know that the whole world is many, many times bigger than what they currently think it is? HxH seems to be at late 90s - early 2000s level of technology and civilization, judging by the internet, flip phones and game consoles (JoyStation) being decently commonplace. This means that they probably also have satellites. So how come a photo of the entire globe, Dark Continent and all, has never been taken? I'd assume it's the hunter association's influence to keep it under wraps, but still many of the world's countries would have gotten orbiting satellites by now. Shouldn't somebody have found out? The world being much bigger than it seems also has other implications. Not knowing the real radius of the Earth can lead to many problems in physics calculations, for instance.

If I had a nen ability it would be the ability to copy another persons ability with one upside where the downside is that I can never replicate it the same exact way.

Realized that both Gon & Ging seem to have an interest for Games as it’s shown how they’re able to create things out of nen centered around them *Gon with jajanken & Ging with greed island* Maybe similarly to Gon, Ging might have a nen ability that works similar to a game, with conditions and or maybe a cheat codes allowing him to master the very basic applications of nen to a high level. Reworking Ren to boost his stats akin to that of a great enhancer for example.
@imvosi164612 күн бұрын
Leorio isn’t the only person we’ve seen teleport their punch. There was also the boxer in greed island that could do the same thing with his upper cuts. Teleporting punches just seems like an emission technique that doesn’t seem that unique or hard to do imo

Netero: I perfected giving punching Ging: I perfected taking punches What if he is a specialist that actively trying not to be dive in the specialist category. Kinda like having emperor time activated but you don't know that it's activated. allowing him to enhance his human senses to the point that it allows him to have perfect muscle memory of his opponent attack. Thus granting him access to replicate punches and it's ability due to the muscle memory of receiving a punch.

I like to think that the Freecs are from the Dark Continent, and that the Frees who can be found on the beaches is guarding either people who arrive from the Dark Continent or protecting the Island from the monsters of the Dark Continent.

I recently reread hunter chairman voting arc and noticed Ging is very good at reading people's behaviors and thoughts. I wonder if that has anything to do with how he can copy abilities?
@noxkurosaki421312 күн бұрын
I don't think there is a strict rule that dictates how nen users should chose their abilities. What Kastro did was foolish but we have seen plenty of successful cases where people used different nen types than their own for their hatsus (Netero being the most obvious answer). Wing said that copying other is a bad idea because Nen is the expression of your personality or something like that yet we have Chrollo and Leol whose whole kit was stealing/borrowing other abilities instead of creating their owns, yet they work. I think that Ging is an emitter or an enhancer, the 2 categories with the biggest probability of having a striking type ability. Add to that his insane analytical skill, nen mastery and the fact that most punching attacks are pretty simple to understand (emitters either teleport their punch or throw aura, enhancers augment their power) and it isn't a surprise that he can copy such hatsus. I don't think it's something he usually does in life or death situations tho. That situation was exceptional because this was a scheme orchestrated by Pariston and Ging knew it so he didn't want to show him his powers. He was just showing his skills to play cool
@TheBleachj1612 күн бұрын
Really anyone can learn any ability technically. So I would go with the "He just HIM" reason. We see when he uses Leorio's ability how he broke it down and figured it out based on what he knew of Leorio's goal of being a doctor. I think it also plays into Ging being very good at reading people. Despite his awkwardness, we see he pretty emotionally intelligent. This probably helps him when copying. I'm assuming he can only do it with relatively simple abilities.
@KoreyConsoli12 күн бұрын
Before I even watch, I believe it's because he is just that talented and it has nothing to do with ability. He's just that good. I think he enjoys using others techniques and improving on them . He's just that good.

Does "nen memory" come into factor the thing hisoka mentioned 🤔
@aidanquinn228212 күн бұрын
Thats interesting. He needs to be hit by it before copying. Maybe he gets a "taste" of their nen, and then by being a genius and maybe a bit empath too, he can recreate it. Reminds me of how ppl can have their nen awakened by being hit with a nen attack.
@WanderingMendicant-qd7mv11 күн бұрын
We actually have little reason to believe Ging is special outside of being talented because of this trait specifically. We know for example that there are several nen users who can steal other people's abilities and several nen excorcists. Furthermore Leorio's ability seems to be a pretty straightforward application of emission based on what we know now. The principles are similar to what we saw with both the boxer on Greed Island and that member of the whatsohername's rogue mafia group who can transfer damage via teleportation. what Leorio 'probably' does is an emission ability that just creates a portal that strikes the target with a fist. It's probably only seemed impressive to Ging because he hasn't thought about it before. We know afterall that nen users are very raw.

I do believe he's a enhancer since he says "strike type attack", but how he copy? He's him, a genius, but i also believe he doesn't have a hatsu for himself, that's how he can just manipulate his nen to mimic others
@kylewood271512 күн бұрын
I don’t think he really copies so much as his base control of Nen aura is so high he can imitate most hatsu’s provided the hatsus use aura in a very basic manner

@kylewood271511 күн бұрын
How so? Leorio’s technique is really just basic Emission. It takes on the appearance of his arm, sure, but beyond that he is just taking basic aura and sending out like a qi blast. Killua’s lightning, on the other hand, is aura that has been transformed into a higher, more complex state. Ging can imitate Leorio because all he needs is basic aura to produce a similar effect, but I bet Killua’s lightning is too complex for such imitations
@AsterDXZ12 күн бұрын
Ging’s talent for copying nen abilities is part of the reason why I hope he’s not a Specialist or have some unique nen mechanic. I want him to just be that good at nen that he can do all these things and anybody theoretically could get to his level, but nobody has the raw talent that he does. Like every high level nen user could probably copy nen abilities if they really wanted to, but it’s a waste of time for them. Not for Ging though, he doesn’t know the meaning of wasting time. He does this for the love of the game, purely because he feels like it and wants to challenge himself. While it’d be neat to see Togashi expand the nen system even further, I think it would lesser Ging’s character if he had a special mechanic and this wasn’t him doing things off raw skill alone

He has a lot of innate potential, and the abilities he’s shown copying lean towards the nen types that are more about application of fundamentals (enhancer/emitter) as opposed to rigorous study (conjugation/transmutation). Like it doesn’t matter how great of a nen user he is, even if he’s a natural transmuter I doubt he’d be able to copy Bungee Gum or Killua’s electricity as easily as he did with Leorio’s remote punch.

Or maybe it's just the genetics of the true strongest hunter in the world who roamed eastern dark continent said to be on his own, alone. HIs genetics should be on different level as he consumes literal elixirs everyday came back had his strong bloodline going and on top of that gine is a rare anomaly even among monsters.
