got a lengthy take..but I'll spread it across diff posts. If we keep it a buck..a lotta dudes don't really fuck with women's sports in general. For years, ppl were calling the WNBA the welfare league. Talking about how ugly and "manish" players were. Talking about how nobody dunks and how the rims need to be lowered. Unless you had a homegirl that played ball or a relative(in your case), the respect for their game just wasn't there

So outside of an outlier or a megastar, ppl on the whole are just weren't following women's bball like that. If we are honest, alot of ppl are relatively new to even Caitlin Clark and she is the BIGGEST star in the sport. Alot of people weren't really talking about Clark at this rate when she was killin shit as a freshman and sophomore. She stepped on campus ballin. She was an elite prep prospect. But unless you are the type to check 24/7, hoopgurlz, espn rankings or you are deep into recruiting, you likely didn't know about her.

Thats why I feel like its almost impossible to divorce that overblown controversy from the 23 NCAA tourney from the explosion in popularity. It gave some ppl who never really thought about the sport an "in" and an agenda to try to push. The Bartstool types, the Outkick Clay Travis and Whitlock types. The media coverage also re-awakened and piqued the interest of genuine lapsed/casual fans of the game as well.

I think it was super easy for ppl to let the racial dynamics fuel the drama. (Look at how we historically rally around certain boxers). It gave some ppl a built in rooting interest and a person to invest in or hate on. Reese became a villain to some. Clark became the put upon victim/hero. You can even reverse that to where Reese was the victim and Clark was the villain(in some fans eyes).

The players became avatars representing stuff that they didn't ask to represent. Now you combine that with the fact that Clark is a monster setting records and playing an exciting deep ball style that became common in the mens game. A style that was kinda rare in the womens game (atleast to the rate that Clark is doing it) and you have the recipe for what we see now. She ain't boring, ppl would have checked out if she was.

JuJu is still young in her college career so anything is possible, but too often people mistakenly think CC was a creation of the media or received her popularity because of media hype. In fact it was the exact opposite. Her fame grow very organically & the media always downplayed Caitlin Clark & her accomplishments until she was too big for them to ignore. Cynthia Cooper (as well as Mulkey & others) said it best, "Caitlin Clark makes everyone around her better." So when you watch CC play not only is her play great, her teammates play great as well & even her opponents are playing their best, so the result is a game where everyone on the court is playing their best basketball. That is what makes Caitlin Clark so special.

I couldn't disagree more. White America(media) is always looking for the great white hope and they hitched their wagon to her. They make it seem like nobody else can make a great pass. Lots of great passers in the league, but they were ignored until the media could hitch their wagon to someone that white America wanted to see. There are lots of great shooters in the league with better shooting percentages. What is the purpose of a logo 3 pointer except to put it on sports center? If you think players got better because CC was drafted, then you haven't been watching the league. She can't create her own shot. She doesn't bother playing defense, but that is never discussed. It reminds me of the early days of MTV. They wouldn't play music by black artists. David Bowie called them out on it.

A lot of then are dismissive, unwilling to learn the history of the sports and league she plays in, and are consistently trying to make it easier for her to play the game of basketball at the highest level. The game of basketball is easy to learn, but it is not suppose to be easy at the highest level. Speaking for myself, I don't want to see Caitlin get anything or any treatment she doesn't deserve, what I do want to see is her get the same treatment as everyone else and to see her get what she DOES deserve. I have no interest in the game being made easier for her, she doesn't need that, I only want to see the game be made fair to her. What makes me "dismissive, unwilling to learn the history of the sports and league she plays in" as you put it, is the level of hatred, pettiness, jealousy, resentment and baseless lies being spread about her fan base. I've been a men's basketball fan since the 60's and I never saw anything close to this level of behavior, what I've seen is opponents, even when bitter rivals, show respect to their opponents. I've seen VERY little of that in the WNBA when it comes to Caitlin. BTW, I'm an MJ lover too, I don't care what people look like, I care about how they treat others.

Many overlook the full impact of Caitlin Clark. People may follow an individual for a variety of reasons, not all related to basketball. However, Clark's playing style not only boosts her own performance but also elevates her teammates, attracting some fans. For others, it's her interaction with fans and the public, along with her intelligence and communication skills, that appeal. The essence is that being a basketball star isn't just about skill in the game; it's about embodying qualities that make a once-in-a-lifetime star.

People from Iowa already knew about Caitlin before their final four and title runs. It was the media that brought people outside of Iowa out of the woodwork. And every time someone brings up about race, they destroy not only their opinion but put a wider gap between the “supposed” comparable player and Caitlin herself. See the problem is, we get sick of hearing about this “privilege” that she gets because she’s white. It’s sad that you can’t recognize her greatness without that opinion. Here’s the truth in “my” opinion; her basketball skills introduced us to a great woman, and great people are recognizable.

Ok... here's the deal. And, just a little back story, I realized this when I was looking at a game featuring Jerry West and other players from that era and I thought, "This looks/feels like a WNBA game." This was how the NBA looked before players like Dr. J, Magic, Michael, Larry, AI, Jason Williams, J-Kidd, etc. The reason these players drew fans to the game is something I call "Anticipation of the Amazing". These players weren't just good/great players: it was that on any given possession they were likely to do something AMAZING. Like: - Dr. J gliding pass 3 defenders for a layup from behind the backboard - Magic's look-away passes to embarrass defenders and finish off fast breaks - Michael's execution from above the rim on seemingly every play, Or scoring 63 points in a playoff game against the NBA's best defense. - Larry's teardrop from behind the backboard; or his stealing a pass, tight-roping the end line before catching the cutting Dennis Johnson for a game-winning layup - AI driving the lane against defenders twice his size (definitely twice his weight) with no fear - Jason Williams' elbow pass ... and MORE. - J-Kidd's bounce pass with backspin for a wide open fast break dunk. These aren't just "good" plays, they're awesome, AMAZING, plays that have fans waiting anxiously for the replay so they can relive it over and over again. That's what Caitlin has with her deadly passing, her off-the-dribble step-back threes, and, of course, her walk-up logo threes. Fans want to watch her because on any possession she's likely to do something AMAZING. Juju is an EXCELLENT player with an awesome offensive arsenal. But, while she regularly makes shots she seldom does anything that's AMAZING.... something that makes you want to see it again on instant replay. Paige's game is the same. Consequently they'll never invoke the fan frenzy that Caitlin does. It's got nothing to do with race, or attractiveness, or rivalry, or anything but the "Anticipation of the Amazing". Caitlin brings it like no other female BB player does.

I don't think it is fair to compare Ju-Ju and Paige or WHOEVER to Caitlin Clark, they are being set up for undo criticism. It's not about JUST a skill set! There are plenty of players in the WNBA with exceptional playing skills, Sue Bird, Cameron Brinks, Kelsey Plum, Satou Sabally, Kelsy Mitchell to name a few. I believe the difference is in personality! Caitlin spends hours before and after each game or event interacting with fans, shaking hands, signing autographs, actually saying to them; "Thank you for showing up!" People really like that shit!!! On top of that she is humble, always positive, never negative even after she has been blind side assaulted with a Flagrant Foul. She takes the burden of a loss on her own shoulders while praising her team mates. The kid is inspiring as a person! You just want to root for her! Now, look at other talented WNBA players that are egocentric, arrogant, entitled, pointing fingers for a loss and only has positive things to say ABOUT THEMSELVES! A'Ja, Angel, Chennedy, and players like them. I find players like that repulsive. Clark is authentic, no fake eyelashes, fake hair, trying to dress all sexy, a loyal friend to her friends, no entourage'. To dumb it down, her "Logo Threes" got my attention, but it is her character that made me a fan! Caitlin has shown everybody in the WNBA a "blueprint" for building a large fanbase, but they are all tone deaf! They seem to think that we, the fans, "OWE THEM" our love and respect because they are so skilled. It just doesn't work that way! They have to EARN my love and respect to make me a fan and I've got to thank Caitlin for being the gateway for me to discover players like Kelsey Mitchell, Satou Sabally, Aliyah Boston, Sue Bird, Sabrina Ionescu and Lexie Hull. These players and their character gives me hope for the league as a whole!

Here’s the difference between JuJu, Paige, everyone else…and Caitlin Clark: MOTS vs. NOT MOTS. It’s not race. It’s the excitement factor of seeing someone who’s different than “more of the same”. Some of it is “storyline”, but that story is built around what I just wrote above. Since the beginning with the WNBA, WNCBB, etc., it’s been women and girls playing a certain style of basketball. Not bad by any means, but not exciting. Muscle their way inside and hit the occasional three. Again, great basketball, which works for men who jam the ball through the hoop and down their opponents’ throats, but not as exciting for women whose finish is a layup. Then we have Caitlin Clark who dazzles from the logo and utilizes her average teammates like instruments of precision. DT, Breanna Stewart, Lisa Leslie, Swoopes, etc. just all look like MOTS and Caitlin is the dazzle factor not playing their way. Paige, JuJu, all the upcoming talent still look like MOTS even if they score 50 pts. Caitlin brought the “difference” and people noticed and latched on.

The thing with Reese was NOT huge at all for Caitlin and her fans. It was huge for Reese. That simple. That hand movement in the face did not move the needle. Caitlin, her team mates and coaches ALWAYS dismissed that as not important and typical basketball situations. As for the why JuJu is not moving the needle: She has no charisma. She's a good player with a flat personality. Like Kareem. Kareem was a great player, but the NBA needed Bird and Magic to save itself. Then came MJ. All 3 had bigger than life personalities and were super talented. Furthermore: Watch JuJu play. There's a coach on YT that noticed this as well: - bad decision making - bad court reading - poor situational awareness - too many turnovers for so little assists They want her to be a PG and she's not putting in the time to actually be a PG. Finally: The race card. This lady on The Fumble, again throws the race card. Where was race in play for Plum, Sophie Cunningham, Brianna, Tishs Penicheiro or Taurasi? Or Ionescu? Or Sue Bird? These ladies had a minute fraction of the impact of Caitlin Clark.

I don't think race is the only factor but its impossible to ignore considering the flash point and how ppl in media discussed that 2023 Tourney final. Ppl who traditionally don't even care about womens ball commented and fueled the discussion. Alot of ppl werent even talking about the actual gameplay. The discussion was narrative based about "classlessness" "thugs" and all the buzz words. Barstool and Outkick were able to weaponize it. Clark BEEN cold the minute she stepped foot on the Iowa campus but unless you are a recruiting nut who really watching the HS bball rankings or someone who genuinely likes tournament bbal, you probably didn't know about Clark til the maybe 2023 tourney highlights. Media wasn't giving her the opportunity or the shine like that before. Fans overall were not checking for Big 10 womens basketball. Casual or lapsed womens bball fans might know the best player at a blueblood school. Or they might know a little bit about whoever shows up on a sportscenter highlight. The incident and how it was dissected helped generate attention at a time when Clark was murdering the game with a style and tempo that was more similar to how the fellas were playing. For years, I saw dudes complain about how boring womens ball is and how they need to lower the rims or how the women or too ugly. I think Caitlin's exciting style of play made those types of fans atleast want to see her play and remain invested. Ppl got a taste and were invested in her. Whether they were invested in seeing her thrive or invested in seeing her fail. They were invested. Ultimately, I don't think ppl should run away from the idea of race being a factor. We live in America. Part of the allure of Magic and Bird was race. Boxing (for my boxing fans) has traditionally had an element of that as well. Race can be a factor in relatability(not the sole factor). And relatability can be a factor in your appeal/charisma. I know I commented ALOT in this video thread. But I feel like nuance is the key. However, no one should use race to try to diminish the greatness of Clark.

When Ju Ju gets cooked by Hannah Hildago and Notre Dame tomorrow, are we still going to talk about her as the next "generational talent" ( as if every year's best players are 'generational')? Caitlin Clark runs the point, passes on a dime, takes extremely long threes which makes everyone say "Wow", and toys with the opposing defense, finding ways to wrong foot them as she drives pass them for a layup or for an expected pass. She is very entertaining to watch and her "I don't care about what anyone thinks" attitude combined with her diplomatic, gracious attitude when discussing the opposition makes her very intriguing. I have seen none of this in Ju Ju (or in Paige B, for that matter, who is a better all-round talent that Ju Ju). I get that Ju Ju is a very polished scorer and I readily admit that her shot is pure silk, yet all I can say is so what? Kelsey Mitchell is honestly a better scorer and a more exciting one, shooting with an opponent in her face or driving through the defense for a layup. I respect Ju Ju's game but I think this is just people needing the next "great player." She will be a solid pro, an All-Star like K. Mitchell, but she will not be a "generational player". It is ridiculous to expect a "generational talent" every year. In fact, this negates the entire meaning of that term. Ju Ju will be fine, unless all of you continue to demand that she be that next "Caitlin Clark." And yes, I do expect Notre Dame to win tomorrow and I do expect Hannah Hildago to have a better stat line. Deal with the fact that there are several good players in Ju Ju's class, not just her (in fact, perhaps some who are actually better than her).

Caitlin’s popularity has nothing to do with Reese, either in College or the WNBA. As well as being a great basketball player, Caitlin is exciting to watch. She is hyper competitive and she put’s everything she has into her basketball on the floor. When she is angry, you see it, sad you see it and when she makes a great shot, you can see it. She plays without any brakes and she genuinely loves the game AND the fans. JuJu and Paige are cold fish in comparison. Caitlin loves the crowd and she shows it. Most players ignore the crowd. In interviews, Caitlin spreads the praise to her players, only blames herself and never says anything bad about her opponents. The combination of all these things is a unique package that others just can’t duplicate. I hope I am wrong and would welcome any number of women basketball players to perform and behave like Caitlin does.

2 Main Reasons: 1. Juju is not in Iowa. 2. Juju isn't doing never-before-seen things. There is no place like Iowa for amateur sport support. With no pro teams, Iowans support their collegians like pros. People forget that Clark's games were all sold out, AND she had 2, 3, 4, 5 million viewers BEFORE she was a national household names. Those were her Iowa fans, in Iowa, and extended with those who've moved around the country. Iowans also have a different culture. More loyal, more enduring. They will watch a losing football team play in 20 degrees, for years. They are also more family oriented - they ''adopt'' their athletes and get to know and value them - in return many Iowa athletes, including Clark, give back to the community... contributing to the children's hospital and more. Clark gives more than almost anyone. She is actually LOVED for this. = Juju is in Los Angeles. LA has too many other options in sports and entertainment. USC can't even sell out it's games in a basin of 20 million. Many in LA are not even locals and have no affinity, loyalty. There is no special relationship between the players and LA community. Without this foundation, which could build the millions to buoy a player up into the national zeitgeist, there isn't the energry required to break through... - Clark shoots 3s like no one ever did. Clark makes passes like no one ever did. (Especially not in the volume she did for both). Clark played with 2 and 3 star players and took them all the way - only to be stopped by a monopoly team with 10 five stars on it. Twice. Clark has no uber athletic ability. She both is an Underdog and does things Never Seen Before. Clark also has a uniquely Iowan personality that is refreshingly charasmatic to people from outside of Iowa culture. = Juju is great great, but people have seen variations of her game before. There are always drive and shoot self-feeding players, with half a dozen in the WNBA playing similarly. She plays on a high recruit team, so she is not an underdog. She does not make her team mates better, at least not noticably. She's just not transcending to the level that Clark did. ... If Juju had gone to Iowa, her support would have been 10x, even in a state with 1/7 the population of the LA basin. IF she could have led a 3 star team so far, her journey would be much more remarkable. In the end, no one will ever be Muhammed Ali. No one will ever be Magic & Bird. No one will ever be Jordan, or Kobe even. No one will ever be Tiger. And no one will ever be Caitlin. Talking heads are out of touch with American, just like the election... .Most Americans still don't live in cities. Most Americans still feel more inspired by a small town story. This was true of most of the most famous athletes and actors in history. Conversely, people are inspired by underdogs going up against gauntlet teams. Everyone can see that the WNCAA is corrupt, with 5 teams winninng 70% of championships, 1 team going something like 100 -2 and getting 1/5th of the five star players in an association of 150 teams. Seeing this inspiring, courageous, inventive, underdog take down those teams - saying it with Her play - That's the Best of Sports. The bonus is knowing she is a GREAT person off the court, people feel free to support her and encourage their kids to look to her as a role model. This is a 1 in a Million occurence, no one should be compared to her. ** These Millenial and Gen Zers need to stop infusing race. Who were the fans of Ali, Jordan, Kobe, Tiger? The same who were the fans of Bird, Brady, Phelps... This false division talk is a distraction from understanding truly fundamental facts. People, all people, love an Underdog who Overachieves and Gives Back and most of all Does Things Never Seen Before.

Look if CC was only drawing crowds in IOWA I would say you are right. With time JuJu maybe able to do what CC did in College. The thing is and that is what is so odd about the CC phenomenon is as time past she was not only having sellout crowds in IOWA she was also doing the same thing on the road in arenas where they would have a hard time to fill during other regular games a phenomenon that was also replicated during her first year in the WNBA. I think a lot of analysts (KZbinrs) are getting it right pegging those young elite prospects against CC is currently setting them up to fail. We know these girls are exceptional talents but can they generate the same amount of interest that CC did when we don’t even know what exactly made CC that transcendent phenomenon that just draws crowds. They may or may not ever reach her level of popularity but that is besides the point what they need to do is to bring their « A » game either in College or the WNBA and make the sport better with their own personal contribution but it is not a goal to replicate the popularity CC had because what CC did generated her popularity as a side effect she did not focus on her popularity as being the main goal. The main goal has always been for CC to play inspiring basketball and this should be the target all those other exceptional players should be aiming for and not the popularity like a lot of other people from the outside are focusing on.

Cc's coach from Iowa was asked when did you first realize Caitlin was special. She said she saw Caitlin in the 8th grade. I've been seeing a lot of videos on KZbin when she played high school basketball. I believe she caught people's attention even then. She would have 50 point games, many assists, and show her high basketball IQ. I love watching her now even if she only gets three three-pointers in a game. Her passing and control of the ball is amazing. She's going to be in the gym over the break. She's going to come back stronger and hopefully with more defensive skills. I know she's been working on her floater and short-range jumper. She will work hard to be an all-around package like JuJu. Not because of competition, but because she knows there is still improvement to be made. One more thing that was not mentioned in the video. Her fans come out because she treats them like royalty. She always signs basketballs and shirts for fans, and takes time for them before and after the games.

I really think Paige has skills similar to Caitlin, and JUJU can drive to the basket with the best of them. She can draw fouls, but the overall game, no, not yet at least. Paige can do just about everything that a lot of other really good players can do. And then there's Caitlin. Yes, Caitlin shoots logo 3's, but she brings joy to the game. That rubs off on her teammates and they all believe they can do it as a team. And Caitlin has a basketball IQ off the charts. That's a separater. Her thinking has people open that never realized they had a shot. If you don't judge and just watch her play, not highlights an actual game. You can't help but be amazed. She is always looking up, looking for THAT play. Good luck JUJU and Paige, you'll need it to move the needle like Caitlin can.

Why can't the young lady just say that Caitlin Clark drew massive crowds in college, because she's not only really good at playing the game of basketball, but she's entertaining to watch. What Caitlin does on the court, nobody else is doing, right? Yes, the storyline with Angel Reese helped spark more interest, but Caitlin Clark was drawing crowds before the Angel Reese storyline. Then, she had to go there with race, c'mon now, really? Let me guess, people are drawn to Caitlin Clark, because she's white, right? Wrong, why is this wrong? Well, there was Kelsey Plum, Diana Taurasi, Brianna Stewart, etc, they all were white and didn't draw nearly the number of crowds that Caitlin drew in college. So, let's take out the race card and just admit that Caitlin Clark is the "TRUTH" no matter how you try to spin it. Caitlin Clark is a once in a lifetime, so to try and replicate and compare with JuJu Watkins and/or Paige Bueckers is not going to work. Just saying!!!

The reason Caitlin got me interested in her is her game is a combination of Steph Curry and John Stockton. Stockton also had big hands which allowed him to control the basketball just like Clark. As a Freshman Clark averaged 7.1 assists (JuJu 3.3) and shot 40% from 3 (JuJu 32%). JuJu is bigger and may end up being the better player but Caitlin Clark makes jaw dropping plays that are just fun to watch. Especially the passing.

Look, #1 - Angel harassing Clark after Angel won showed the positive character of Clark and said whatever about Angel. But it endeared fans even more to Clark, #2 - the only increase in attention to in addition to this was that people the next NCAA tournament wanted to see LSU vs Iowa rematch. Fans got that. But they also got the SC matchup, the Uconn matchup etc etc. All other aspects that draw fans to Clark are due to Iowa fans that ARE more into Women’s BB more than most. Race is such a small part of it, as is Angel herself. Its only Angel, and a constant stream of media and talking heads that either want to or feel they have to credit Angel for every Clark accomplishment. You then tell me who is constantly bringing race into this. Its not the Clark fans. Like Angel chasing Clark around for a staredown or conflict, its all these people that refuse to give Clark her due for what reason - you tell me. People go to watch Clark play and thats not about anything else but her game.

One thing could be the completely different dynamic with Iowa vs USC . There are so many options for sports in not only California but also Los Angeles . Iowa doesn't have that many options pulling fans loyalties . Juju is built different then CC , Juju has the size to score inside , but Clark's draw is not just that she is making three's , but deeeeeeeep three's . She is shooting from farther back then NBA players . She is also passing at an elite level . Juju doesn't have the passing in her game . I was definitely surprised that more people didn't show up for the game . I have been looking forward to seeing this game for a while with both teams having multiple players whom could go very high in the wnba draft in the next couple of years . Watch " The Shot" vs Indiana . That was long before the taunt from Angel Reese , look at the packed crowd at that game . That shows that Clark had the fans support for her games .

Star power IS about basketball skills. She shoots 3 pts from an average of 28 ft, further than Curry. That's NEVER been seen before and on top of that she makes INSANE crosscourt passes that turn into assists. In addition, in her senior year she lead the country in both scoring(31.6) AND assists (8.3).

If that was only about AR and CC the popularity would die down when she doesn’t play AR. We have seen that it doesn’t take AR for CC to attracts crowds in the WNBA even on the road so to credit her popularity only to AR I think is not acknowledging that it is much more about her skill set and personality but to strike it out to her whiteness seriously. The last time I looked Jordan wasn’t a white dude and the crowds still showed up in droves. A generational player is a generational player period and making it about the colour of their outer envelope is not knowing what really makes a generational player a generational player.

Kiki Iriafen was much more of a standout and people hardly mention her. She’s going to be awesome in the WNBA by the way, watch for her. I understand Juju had an amazing freshman season but unfortunately she needs to keep it up for 4 years and show progression. Like all good players. I wish Juju the best, she seems to have a great personality which to me is 100% more important than looks for an athlete but to each their own.

If JuJu ever learned the joys of a great pass and made it a focused part of her game she could be great. As it is she's a another chick who plays like an American dude to me. One on one, way too much shake and bake. Sure she's got excellent body control but she draws so much defensive attention too. It's her inability as of yet to pass easily out of double teams to an open shooter that places her way below CC.

Juju's coach is setting her up to fell by saying she better than CC . Why as a coach would you do that to her..If she's better let her game speak for itself

Caitlin is just different she have the MJ, Kobe, Lebron and Stephen. Her aura is just different. Plus she talk very intelligent and polite, respectful, very tale and kind to everyone.

I Hear so much about juju I planned to catch a game this year and see for myself, I chose the Notre Dame game because both teams are expected to go far and have other hyped players like Miles, Citron and Kiki, well nothing I saw said i have to see it again. now i know nothing about any of them and was my first time watching all of them I would say miles has the most potential. now the very first time i watched CC I was hooked.

Juju just does not have any fan interest. She is averaging less than 4k at home in a 10k arena. It is even worse on the road. Bueckers also does not have the fan interest either. UCONN sells out home games. That is about the name on front of the jersey not the back.

To your point, 11/15 Uconn played UNC in an arena that has a 22, 000 seating capacity yet attendance was only 10,467.

And I don't get the idea that this is all about race. Are there some on the extremes who love or hate CC just because of her race, yes, but most fans just like her because she is a great baller. Serena Williams, Simone Biles, & Tiger Woods are black athletes in sports that are predominantly white, & they became the most popular athletes of those sport, but yet CC being white in a predominantly black sport & becoming the most popular athlete in women's basketball is a problem. Why?

White media: purchase tickets, buy merchandise, travel to another state to support, take a total investment in that player Black Media: no tickets being purchased, no merch, will not travel to support that player, blah blah blah and complain that CC is moving the needle

Being popular and being the best are 2 completely different things. Is she the best basketball player in the league? No

@@wbazile She was a rookie who did things that have never been done before and she was way more than just popular, to the point it would be hard for a reasonable person to not see her as possibly the best in the future, she's hands down the most exciting.

@@Willard-l7t I'm sure that is coming from a person who only watched her. What exactly has never been done?

Rich, as a grandfather who has a sport crazy grand daughter, i can tell you the only reason I know about CC is because of her past two years of collage play. I root for the underdog always, Colts, Canucks, are great examples. I found her story so impressive. she came from a middle class family which did not stop her from trying to excel at any sport. she practiced instead of joining with other classmates who were not in sports. she worked hard at getting better continually. I watched as major sports pundits attempted to deny her talent, and yet even my old eyes could see her greatness. the more the media and explayers attempted to tear her down, the more I cheered fro her. as for race, why is it that a white person can not cheer for. a white player? after all I read somewhere that 70% of all players are non white, so if I cheer for Dion that's good, but if I cheer for Payton I am doing that only because he is. white? Race should never be a part of why a person is cheered for in sports. I have become a fan of the Fever because of CC, I root for all of the players on this team. They will be. my second favourite team once Toronto has a team, then I will support that team including all the players regardless of their skin colour.

I think it’s dope that she went to play for her hometown, but I feel like she probably should’ve gone to South Carolina because Staley would’ve developed her a little bit more while still letting her be who she is. she’s still playing well, but she was already really good coming in. I haven’t seen anything really added into her game, which is more so on the coaches than her.

I heard that it was JuJu's coach that reached out to CC. Even Watkins' head coach reached out to Clark in order to see how she could help Watkins navigate a level of superstardom that only select women's basketball players have experienced to this point. And in a November 21 article, ESPN's Alexa Philippou quoted a WNBA talent evaluator who linked the two once more. comment in a Sport's Illustrated article.
