I believe Hendo/Fab/Elliot played together only 6 times this season.. Lfc has won all 6 and only conceded 2 goals in this time with an aggregate of 30 odd goals

You know how only you can make fun of your friend or your brother, but if someone else does it you go batsh1t? Liverpool can play crap all season but tell them it's a game against United and suddenly the team plays different. Same goes for Barcelona, they could struggle all day in Europa League but tell them it's Madrid they're meeting and it's a different team from the one that usually plays against Bayern. Or Madrid against Atletico, Inter and Milan, Mönchengladbach against Bayern, the list goes on.

Because their tactics don't work against defensive teams. Liverpool have had trouble breaking down stubborn defenses for a while and if you're Liverpool, teams will be coming to sit deep. I remember in December 2020, Fulham 1 - 1 Liverpool at Craven cottage. Fulham had a 3 defenders in their own box at any one time. Liverpool had no aerial threat but even if the did, Fulham made sure to have numbers in their own box every time. All Liverpool could do was pass it from side to side in front of Fulham's box then attempt the odd cross to Mo Salah of all people who isn't known to be an aerial threat though even if he was, he'd be outnumbered in the box each time. Thats exactly what happened, Salah was outnumbered in the box each time whether a cross was aimed at him or he received the ball to foot. Fulham scored first on the counter and in the end Liverpool need a Mo Salah penalty to rescue a point from Craven Cottage. TL;DR: They've always had problems breaking down resilient defenses which is why a nice compact low block almost always works against them.

We haven’t always had trouble with it and it hasn’t nearly always worked. Look at our 99, 97, and 93 points seasons. You can’t get those points totals if low block sides usually got the better of us
