Could Liverpool finish in the Top 4?

The beauty about the premier league is that it isn’t always the team with the best players that wins the league.. ‘CONSISTENCY’.. that’s what wins you the league.. Any team in the bottom three can win just 2-3 games and get out of the bottom.. The problem is, the league is just so competitive that even teams who should be easy to beat tend to cause problems for bigger teams or teams with better players.. So Liverpool can as well make it into the top 4. But it’ll be very unlikely if they keep winning a few and losing a lot..

Actually his last year at Dortmund wasn't disastrous.. The first half of the season was bad, the team was near the bottom of the Bundesliga.. But the second half, he got the team back to 6 th place.. So, he turned it around... But starting from scratch at Dortmund, is not the same as starting from scratch at Liverpool.. It didn't matter which Dortmund player went after, Bayern could always preis that player away.. It's an impossible situation to work under.. It's not the same at Liverpool..

Definitely. They're only 6 points behind Newcastle with a game in hand, 7 points behind Spurs with 2 games in hand on them. Liverpool's next two games are against Palace and Wolves, after that Newcastle visit the Etihad. Its certainly possible that after those games Liverpool have overtaken Newcastle already.

They definately can, people can talk all they want about Liverpool not scoring enough goals but they had most of their senior forwards out in Firmino, Jota and Diaz; leaving Salah to make things happen with a new Nuñez and Gakpo. Newcastle’s form has had a dip as of late and have not been scoring, they also have their first final in decades to play and IF they were to lose it would be a huge mental strain on the squad for the rest of the season. Spurs are Spurs lol Liverpool have 2 games ahead of them and they are without Bentancur who is a huge loss for them, he has been their best midfielder. Liverpool definately have a chance for top 4.

I don't think so. I feel like I watched a different game against Newcastle than other people saw. After the bizarre spell with the goals and the sending off I thought Liverpool were awful. Newcastle's 10 men could have got something from that game if they could figure out that the goal is the bit between the posts. You can go for a stroll with the ball in Liverpool's penalty area whenever you feel like it. Madrid spotted that flaw too.

Agree totally, Newcastle could have been ahead before Liverpool scored, and even with 10 men, Newcastle could have scored three. Allison kept them in that game and was arguably their best player. Even with Newcastle's second (or third) choice midfield, they still dominated Liverpool for huge periods.

what players have they brought in that haven’t worked out? i keep seeing people say the transfers recently have been poor when they haven’t, nunez eventually will be world class, gakpo also has that potential then other than that the only other signings were ramsay who’s been injured all year and carvalho who’s one for the future and has impressed when he’s played. Obviously we should’ve prioritised midfield signings but the players we want aren’t always available

Yeah, Núńez especially has been great for his first season; he has essentially solved a lot of issues Liverpool had and he’s on trajectory for 25 G/A this season which is decent for his first season in which he hasn’t played all the minutes. I think he might even exceed his 25 G/A this season as he’s gaining more confidence as evident from his 2 extraordinary goals and 1 extraordinary assist in his last 3 games. Gakpo also brings extreme potential to Liverpool. Liverpool’s terrible midfield is what is limiting their chances and the ability of their top 3.

@@reversicle212 ye if anything the injured forwards coming back could mess with the current forwards form, nunez gakpo salah have looked like the best trio we’ve had this season and they have good chemistry, i don’t think jota or firmino will start soon unless one of them drops off in form but it’ll be interesting when diaz is back as he was our best player at the start of the season so you’d expect him to play but u won’t want to mess with current form

@@timmy5876Liverpool's plan to become good again currently heavily relies on Bellingham joining them which I doubt. Tchouameni could have been signed but wasn't and with FSG god knows if Liverpool will ever sign someone. In the summer Klopp needs to sign young midfielders and defenders.

@@reversicle212 we offered tchouameni everything he just chose madrid, if we sign jude we’ll be fine for the next 5 years as we’ll attract players but if not we’ll spend more money in the summer on cheaper players who may end up great players, not jude’s level but top class which might help us even

Looking at the table, I see 6 teams in the thick of it for the #4 spot. Liverpool is one of those 6. It is far too early to consider any of those 6 out of this race for a CL spot. Even Chelsea is not absolutely out of it, as a 7th contender.

If we get no more injuries and Diaz comes back in form, Nunez and Gakpo build on their recent performances we could do well. However, we need to sort out the high line and defence because too many times we have switched off and let teams back into games or given away stupid goals. Wijnaldum didn't just offer pressing and good passing he also scored goals. For Netherlands and Newcastle he mainly played CAM. Now we have no goals at all from midfield.

i don’t get the people saying we should’ve signed any midfielder in january, if we could find someone on loan who could do a job we would’ve but all the transfers we want to do are only available in the summer, such as jude, nunes, caicedo. Not that we’ll get any 100% but why would we sign someone now if we don’t see them as part of our plans going forward

It is a result of built up frustration. The bizarre bad luck with injuries of the 2020/21 season revealed softness in the roster in certain areas. I think it was obvious that Klopp needed 3-4 new midfielders he could rely on, plus 2-3 defenders, too; and it would be wise to get them over the course of the next 4 transfer windows or so. What Klopp was able to get over those 4 windows was Konate, Carvalho and some academy kids. I have a lot of praise for these players as individuals, but as a group they fall far short of what was so obviously necessary. It was a bit silly to get hopes up for January. But it tells us fans what we did not want to hear: FSG is content with 6th or 8th place this season, and the rebuild may or may not begin in earnest in the coming summer.

@@ComradeOgilvy1984 i think FSG assumed based on last seasons achievement that we’d get atleast top 4 this season then in the summer we’d rebuild the midfield but obviously the whole teams fallen out of form and we might not get top 4 which may hinder signings in the summer. In fairness no one predicted we’d not be in the top 2 this season never mind top 4

he’s playing against modric and valverde arguably both top 5 8’s in the world right now ofcourse he’s not gonna be great, he made his senior debut like a month ago haha, he’s already been better than curtis ever has been. The difference is curtis is a scouser from the academy so everyone wants him to succeed but he just isn’t good enough and needs a loan or transfer, bajcetic is 3/4 years younger and is already better
