I am very fortunate to be granted a tourist visa (multiple) on my first try. I was only 24 years old when I applied. The only question the lady asked was "why do you want to go to the United States?" I just said "I want to go to Disney Land". I did not have any property nor a big amount of money in my bank account but they still granted me a visa. My mom told me that maybe because I've been traveling to Asian countries before I applied for a US tourist visa helped. I was told by a lot of people that I am very lucky. Good luck to you and Vivian. I hope everything goes well. :-)

Hey Guys, Vivian just passed the medical exam at St. Luke's, she's very happy. Also my son bought a new vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, so I bought his old car a Lancer and that is now Vivian's vehicle! That is if I survive teaching her how to drive, hehehe!

my experience is : A few years ago a Philippino co worker brought his niece to work and introduced her to me. She had just arrived on a tourist visa. She was intelligent college graduate. We went out on a few dates. She told me she wanted to stay in the U S and was looking for a husband, a hint was made about a payment, (she was not my type). She also said that to get her visa she went to Tondo and paid for fake papers to show the embassy, that she had a husband and children. I think she got bored with me and found someone else because she is still here . one more thing , now that she has been here a few years he has put on a lot of weight, changed a lot.

All the best for Vivian and yourself Ken. Others have made things as hard as they are now. It's not just America who are harsh in granting visas to pinays. The amount of pinays who've asked me to invite them to London is a lot and you just know they would vanish into the underground or overstay. Can't blame somebody for wanting to improve their lot in life but it just adds to the already perceived views of pinays.

In the European union, a wife of an EU citizen can enter the EU via a tourist visa and stay permanently with her spouse. This is because once she is here, she can make a residence permit based on the marriage. The permit itself is valid for 5 years. Couple of months before it expires, she can apply for a permanent residence card which is basically a small step below citizenship and would allow her to live in the EU forever.
@PostcardsFromCebu6 жыл бұрын
Good to know, Thanks Petar!
@user-ov5nd1fb7s6 жыл бұрын
A minor detail that could be very important is that for a person to benefit from that law, they need to be exercising their EU free movement rights. What that means is that they are living in a different EU country from the one they were born in or did so in the past. Here are 2 examples that would clarify this. German citizen living in Germany and wants his Filipino wife to live with him can't use EU law because he is not exercising his right of free movement. In this case, the couple must follow the specific German immigration law, which would be quite a drag. The Filipino wife must have a basic understanding of the German language so she can get a spousal visa. However, a French national living in Germany does not need to follow German immigration law (No need to know German) and his wife can get a quick schengen visa C (90 day tourist visa), arrive in Germany. Go register at the local municipality that she lives with her husband and go apply for a residence card. This applies for any 3rd country(Outside of the EU) spouse, not just Filipino. If we need to get technical here, according to the EU law, as long as you have a marriage certificate and your spouse is traveling with you, you don't even need a visa. However, there is a warning that border agents and airline staff are not aware of the details in immigration laws and to be on the safe side you should get a visa in advance. Yes, it sounds bizarre. They basically admit that the law is not followed because of ignorance but this is the way it is now. I have moved around with my wife in 4 countries and i know the EU immigration laws pretty well. If anyone has a question drop me a message, cheers.

Hi Ken, We just went for my wife's green card interview and it was granted. It was a two hour interview, my wife said it was much harder then her K1 interview. First he covered the answers on her K1 paperwork then he got to the questions about our marriage, bank accounts and stuff like that. Just a note to everyone who is working on a K1 visa, it's not over when she gets here.
@JRPaguia8 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you guys are happy to get her green card. But a 2-hour interview? Yikes. Which field office was that interview at? Our interview was around 20 minutes (Fresno, CA).

Hey Terry, Congrats on getting the green card. Because Vivian and I are doing the CR1, her green card should arrive by mail a couple of weeks after her entry to the US. I understand that after 2 years, we will need to appear for an interview to get her 10 year card and they ask a lot of personal questions...

@PostcardsFromCebu7 жыл бұрын
Hi Dwayne, Yes, she will need a visa before she can enter the USA. There is a reason I made so many trips to the Philippines, no? Also bear in mind that if she travels on a "tourist" visa with the intent of coming to see you (i.e. not really a tourist), she is committing fraud!

Dwayne, my advice is to make the trip to the Philippines. Get to know her there. Then decide if you want to marry in the Philippines or bring her to the USA on a K1 (fiance visa), either way it is going to cost a minimum of $3000. For me it was well worth it!

My boyfriend and I met online and have been together for 2 years (since 2019) and we've been dying to meet but because of covid and other things we haven't got the chance until recently we started planning stuff out. Could he visit me in the USA on a tourist visa? I know it says you can sign up for that visa if you're coming for tourism and to visit friends/family but it never mentions girlfriend/boyfriend which confuses me and I can never find anything about this or similar situations. he only wants to stay for 2 weeks and we have no plans on getting engaged or married anytime soon so we don't want to apply/cannot apply for the k-1 visa. do you think it'll work and what steps should we take?

@PostcardsFromCebu5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mortie, Sorry to hear about your girlfriend's denial! The Embassy must have judged that she is a high risk to overstay her visa. If the two of you are very serious, you might consider the K-1 (Fiancee) visa route? Good Luck!

How much money would the Filipina Need to have in a bank account To show her intent of returning do you think
@PostcardsFromCebu4 жыл бұрын
Not really sure Russell, depends a lot on the consular officers thinking about her situation. Remember that officer takes a chance on each visa approved!

Yeah I appreciate your answer I’m beginning to think this Filipino I’ve had a relationship now LDR for three years may not ever work out because although I have a substantial amount of money I have a felony in my past

I'm meeting a bunch of gorgeous Pinay ladies and most of them are way to scandalous and poor, most of them I've met be in the Mideast, Russia you name it, nearly half of them aren't scammers, nowadays I'm meeting gold diggers, game players and beggars mainly the ones in their country, no thanks, I would love to be with a Filipina as my wife and some Blasian kids, but I ain't wasting no money on one, but if y'all send them ladies some visa money you're outta luck!
