If you want a low maintenance woman, they can be easy to find: just look at her nails. The longer they are, the higher maintenance she is. Nothing better than a Filipina that has shorter, natural nails and very little makeup. It isn’t a stretch to say that older Filipinas look about 20 years younger than most other women.

Tampo has really hurt my relationship with my Filipina wife. While the silent treatment is gone, the underlying resentment is not gone. I hope at some point she cares enough about our relationship and mature enough to communicate.

Sorry for you. Yet, thank you for posting. It should be every man's red flag when a woman shows tampo. You are absolutely right. She has tampo for a reason and if that is not solved it leads to resentment. The problem with a girl who has tampo, there is no place to solve that problem. I, will date for a long time, and if tampo comes up, I will explain that it is unacceptable and we must communicate. If she is unwilling or unable to communicate then hasta la vista baby. Resentment is a relationship killer.

Very good at explaining potential trouble areas. I agree that there things are good to investigate and only time will tell how difficult a person may be. I think that there's probably a similar list for men as well. Also, realize that nobody is perfect either. Some issues one can be tolerated but be careful because a little problem when dating may become a monster, once married.

I feel you. You try so hard. You put her first in your life. You sacrifice for her. You show her respect and value as a human. You appreciate and compliment her achievements. You drive her here and there. Buy her nice clothes. Take her out to eat when she doesn't cook. Make sure that she always has $$ in her purse. Spend 7 years taking care of her when she is on dialysis. Make sure that she gets a kidney transplant, and eye surgery without which she would be blind. Pays for all the medical expenses and health insurance. Then she tells you that you are not spiritual. That she doesn't love you, and wants a divorce. Go figure. Time to move on to a new future...

Tampo definition: The closest word in English is sulk because it involves self-withdrawal. So, men.... the advice that this expat stressed is extremely important. Because he did a lot of research. So right from the get go. You as a man must nip that temperament shit in the bud. You must state that you're not going to put up with any of it. And if she starts it, kick her ass out the door. You vet by observing how she handles controversy such as not getting something minor that was promised. Or making her wait. You need to seriously vet for tampo through testing before you seriously commit.

Lol You guys both kept me really guessing and laughing and rewinding to see it again. Great humor, timing and editing. And advice. But really the questions were ones all couples should talk over. One thing that always bothered me in life was when a person hadn't done much introspection, self-knowledge, or had enough experience to really get to know themselves. Right? You ask them a question and they just don't know. Maybe they'll have too high an opinion of themselves. Those are the people that life will change on you, and... surprise, surprise... you are the one left behind saying, "Uh, but you said...!" Anyway, really getting to like you guys, keep up the great videos.

Most of the other male bloggers typically come from ex-forces or blue collar backgrounds and as such they lack the intellect that you show (I don't disparage them but sometimes it's nice to have some conversation that is a little more nuanced). I think CDO is a good option - my gf of 5+ years is from Iligan and while her family is great I don't want to live in the same town.

Good solid advice and information from both of you. I am now caught up. Loved your videos. I will be waiting for your next one. One idea for your channel. Have Chrissy sing your opening to each video. Just as The Filipina Pea has her signature theme song…a short signature song with Chrissy’s beautiful voice would really make your channel stand out.

Another great video! Excellent topic. Thanks. You have some great advice on questions to ask, such as "rate your Tampo from one to ten" and "what are your financial expectations of your bf/husband for your family?" I'd like to explore the topic of screening more, specifically with regards to when, where and how to ask these sorts of questions. For example, I've heard from Ms. Pea that sending a text list of questions isn't effective as a Filipina will likely only answer the first one, or one that she chooses. You didn't specifically talk about it but it seems like you asked the Tampo question early on but in a video chat where you could see her genuine reaction as opposed to say texting it where someone could research the "right" answer that would appeal to Westerners. Your channel will keep growing quickly if you continue to produce genuine content like this.

The definition of low maintenance is a subjective because it depends on someone's income. The key is living below means. There should be an agreement between 2 people on spending. No matter how good a relationship is, it will start to crumble if unable to pay its daily needs especially during emergency. I am a person who put logic and not emotion when making decision especially if it is a long term relationship. This is my personal opinion.

She won’t say what it is because “you should already know why I’m not talking to you because I’m a typical 96% of women that believes men should be able to read my mind and I shouldn’t have to tell you or ask you!” It’s comical really how many women really believe this. That men should just know and be able to read their minds. Granted: some men also believe this as it’s not exclusive to women. Just much more common in women. Most common reason they give to support this is “if he really loved me he would just know”

High maintenance girls believe that they won't lose the guy when they are a pain. This is the danger in allowing a girl to take your affection as a given. Both people must know that they can be replaced or you will get the poor behaviours mentioned.

Me personally I would NOT accept tampo at all. It is NOT a cultural thing, it is BEHAVIORAL, it is immature, childish, manipulative and emotionally abusive behavior. MATURE ADULTS talk about their problems to solve them before they become something bigger, you can't do that if 1 of you isn't talking. I can't fix a problem that ONLY exists inside HER HEAD. If she wants to throw a childish tampo tantrum, while she's in the bedroom not talking to me, she can pack her things and leave permanently and never have to talk to me again. If she wants to be a MATURE ADULT, we can sit down and talk about it calmly, respectfully, open minded, and HONESTLY and find a solution that BOTH parties can accept. This is why she NEEDS to understand HIS culture too, her problem may stem from not understanding his culture and what he said/did is just a part of it, and is NOT a problem to him. If she just speaks up and tells him, the problem can be resolved quick and easily. I get wanting to "cool down" so she doesn't say something she regrets and hurts my feelings, my feelings will heal, but the emotional scars from tampo may never heal. This goes right along with adapting and changing, a Filipina in a relationship with a foreigner, it is no longer HER culture, it is BOTH of their cultures and BOTH need to adapt and change. What is OK in her culture may not be in his, like tampo, it is UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR from a child, much less an ADULT. You don't reward poor behavior (tampo), it will only get more of it and it'll only get worse. Constant affirmation is EXHAUSTING, and if he forgets, it creates unnecessary problems. Filipina's need to GET OVER IT, he chose YOU out of the other MILLIONS of other beautiful Filipina's, obviously you are good enough for him, he thinks you are beautiful, and the one he wants to be with. Do NOT add drama and stress where it doesn't need to be, most foreigners are older, have already dealt with all of life's stresses, don't add more to it, or he won't be your foreigner for long. They want to relax, have PEACE, and just enjoy life and take you along for the ride. What I want to know is, if I run into a lady on the street and ask her on a date, why does she feel the need to bury herself under make-up and show up looking like a completely different person? When I ran into her on the street she didn't have all that crap on her face and that was the lady that caught my interest, NOT the one buried under make-up that shows up. Her putting all that make-up to make herself look good for me, would have the complete opposite effect, that would be an instant turn off for me, I HATE make-up. Another huge turn-off and pet peeve of mine is punctuality, being retired military being on time is important. Especially if it's for a date, if she's late, she will be dining alone because she's showing me she wasn't that interested in me because she wasn't excited enough to be ON TIME (REAL World time). Saying she's late because she was getting ready is the worst excuse she can give. She's been getting ready her whole life and knows how long it takes, she should have planned accordingly to be on time. Time is the one thing NO ONE will ever get back, don't let someone else WASTE yours. One thing I think you should also ask right up front is, can she provide you a CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage), if she can't/won't even if you offer to pay for it (They're VERY cheap), MOVE ON, she's not available. Besides, you'll need that CENOMAR to be able to get married, might as well have it early on. I also agree, you NEED to talk about her family, whether you will support them or not, so she can decide if your intentions and hers align or not and whether she should pursue the relationship if they don't. She will also need to MANAGE EXPECTATIONS of her family/friends, just because the foreigner has money, does NOT mean they do, HE worked most his life to EARN it and he decides how he will spend it. A relationship can be just as easily destroyed by her family/friends greed as it can by her actions and behaviors. Me personally, I am NOT financially responsible for other ADULTS, I didn't work most of my life and being deployed to war zones to pay for someone else's laziness and early retirement. I am financially responsible for myself, my LIVE IN girlfriend/wife, and OUR child/ren (Should we have any), NO ONE else, anything beyond that is me being kind and generous. If she lives with me, I am already supporting her parents, although actual money isn't exchanging hands, I am the one providing for her needs, NOT her parents, and the money they aren't spending on her needs, they can now use for their own needs. If she eats 2000 pesos of food a month (Not sure if high or low, just an example), that is 2000 pesos I spent, NOT her parents and they now have the 2000 pesos to use for themselves.

Whew! Okay retired military. Your overuse of capitalization, which indicates yelling and domination, won't fly well in the Philippines. 😮 CALM DOWN 🥵
@ejtaylor73
@ejtaylor73 Жыл бұрын
@@frank5436 Writing an entire sentence or message in all caps indicates yelling/shouting. Only capitalizing certain words is to place emphasis on that word to show importance. The tone it is read in is set by YOU, so you are the one reading it in a yelling and dominant tone, and perhaps you are the one that needs to calm down, and maybe try reading it in that calm tone for the actual information being conveyed.

I have binged on several of your videos today. This is what I have observed: 1. You are taking financial responsibility for Chrissie & her son. 2. You have moved Chrissie from her poverty-stricken hometown to a beautiful home, a good distance away from her hometown. 3. Chrissie no longer needs to work as a school teacher. Instead, she is enjoying making KZbin content that provides less income than her job as a teacher. 4. Add, you are paying her a consistent, reliable "allowance" on a regular basis. 5. It "appears" you are paying for the majority of your monthly cost of living, your excursions to scenic local locations in the Philippines. I also saw a video where you mentioned you went together to Argentina, & other vacations outside the Philippines. 5. Chrissie's son will soon be joining your household & you admit to possibly adding another child to your family. 6. You also mentioned you will also soon provide financial assistance to Chrissie's parents. 7. I see your relationship with Chrissie to be one-sided. You are bringing much to the table in this relationship with Chrissie bringing a minimal percentage. 8. This particular video is about finding a "low-maintenance Filipina." How can you produce this sort of content when you are DEEPLY involved with a "HIGH-MAINTENACE Filipina?" Seems very HYPOCRITICAL CONTENT to me, considering you also mentioned she is now wearing more expensive clothing & started wearing jewelry. You appear to be a handsome, beautiful, & caring couple. I hope it is enough to survive an almost 40 year old age gap & the fact your relationship is barely a year old. I wish you both all the best in your future. I hope you two can overcome the red flags I have noted that pose as challenges towards a successful future together. You both appear to be good people. I wish you both much success & happiness together.

Thank you for watching our channel and sharing your feedback. Some of your facts are just plain wrong. I never took Chrissy out of the country on vacation. Her contribution to her KZbin channel is huge and half the current KZbin income dwarfs what she could earn as a teacher here in the Philippines, not to mention the future potential. Hi Rob and Chrissey love your channel. I have followed your advice and scheduled to meet my bingo in Davao in April for whole month. Planning to relocate permanently to Davao before end of year. Could you do an episode on cost of educating a child in Philippines. My girlfriend is over 30 and a government professional in Davao. She has two boys, age 9 and 15 years living with grandparents in a small town in nearby province. My girlfriend owns the home which parents and her children live. I would wish for her to retire and be accessible with me to travel. So I will take on the obligations of raising these kids in Province. I need to know what is a reasonable allowance for the kids. Thank you for all the good content. BTW it took me about 10 months to find and fully vet my Queen. ❤

BigCee thanks for watching our videos and suggesting a content idea a province kindergarten cost $1000 a month probably full-time third or fourth grade would run 2000 maybe 2500 including supplies here in the big city CDO the most expensive school Xavier private high school charges approximately 60,000 per semester with two semesters per year kindergarten which is only half-day is roughly 55,000 for a semester college surprisingly is the same price as Private high school I’ve been told the last president passed the law to make college education free for all Filipinos, so there are many vocational and state schools that don’t charge much of anything

@@FlyMeToThePhilippines Thank you for your response. My future wife is sole support for kids and makes good salary. She is sending currently sending 20k per month back home for two kid’s school, fare, foods and vitamins and upkeep. They are being raised traditionally by the elderly grandparents. Their meals are prepared at home to which they spend most of their time at home studying. There are no malls, Jolibee or big city trappings for kids. I am not a cheapskate, I’m just trying to determine is she extravagant or just providing the basics. My girlfriend is from Lingig in the province of Surigao del Sur. She has never ask me for money. But I realize if I want her to retire, I should pitch in. I just in habit of researching before I make a commitment or promise to fulfill. Thank you for all the educational content

Thanks for sharing, 20k is on the high end for typical expenses however if you want kids to eat well etc not too high

My girlfriend worked for the government 40 hours a week for less than $200 a month which she gave to her family to support them. If she's working 40 hours a week, how much time does she have to spend with you?

I struggle with that dilemma myself. but the downside of her working all the time is as an older guy like myself I want her to be around more for me. plus I like the traditional old time relationships of a man financially supporting his wife while she runs the household ,and a Filipina working full time might be lucky to bring home 200-300$ a month, not exactly a financial game changer. I married my wife when she was 23 years old- she couldn’t afford to go to college before I met her so high paying job opportunities are virtually non existent here in the Philippines. our situation works for us- 200$ xtra a month isn’t going to make much of a difference in our lives..

What do you guys think a Philipina means when she describes herself as “Simple”?

@@FlyMeToThePhilippines I see Philipinas use that word a lot to describe themselves which is a bit odd as one meaning, at least here in the Excited States, is "dumb". In the Phils, in addition to not a lot of experience, does it also mean low maintenance, not very materialistic and appreciative of the time spent together? As in appreciating the simple things in life.

Simple means uncomplicated. She can live without the comforts of life. She is ok with riding the jeepney, eating at a "carenderia". It may be eating fishballs, walking at the park, you serenading her or just having the basic necessities in life. She doesn't need branded items to give her satisfaction. She is happy with whatever she has.

Why did you let her do that to you? That is a crime here. You can sue her for that. Marriage is sacred here. How could she have cheated on you?

I will just say, dont encourage "tampo" they want the man to "suck up " to them when they pull this "tampo" (bad behaviour). Just ignore, do not reward this behaviour and in no time they will realize its not working to their advantage.

What you're describing are classic narcissistic traits, toxic.
@paulsauntry4782
@paulsauntry4782 5 ай бұрын
It isn't really just the way they were bought up. Nothing to do with narcism. It is a cultural thing. When my wife gets upset once a year and we have been married 30 years I go do something else the worst thing I can do is annoy her by insisting on speaking about it now and then. Let it cool down. Frankly, people have their own way of dealing with it. On a side note, this is funny and my wife's best friend told me this before I married my wife 30 years ago, Filipinas are the drama queens of Asia, and I mean that most nicely, but my wife has a Latino temper. She is Waray. And let me tell you I have seen her kick butt on a few occasions on a few men also. Should not have taught her kali, Escrima and jiu jitsu.
