@@desporto6559 if he doesn’t what? Do you even watch city play a full 90 minutes? If you did you would know that when he first got to man city he wasn’t cut out to be starting ahead of Walker who knew where to be during transitions. This narrative people have of Guardiola needing to buy players doesn’t hold up when you’ve seen players from Barcelona and Real Madrid who have spent millions and don’t have any sort of project in the near future. Man United barely got their act together after spending so much money too. Without a manager who knows what he wants and his word is the law you get managers like Valverde for barca with mediocre performances week in week out.

@arthurjoe71383 жыл бұрын
the reason juve rarely put cancelo to play was his lack in defense tho. he was superb in attck but so poor in defense. especially defending counter attacks as he was out of his position most of the time & going too late to cover the space he left, due to his likely to go further up to join attack. that's why juve dare to swap him for danilo. hoping to find a "more defensive sense" attacking RB which can also play as LB. plus there was a plenty of cash for that deal too which juve can get. so juve thought the deal was too good to be turned down.

He’s such an interesting player, I really like how he’s developed into city’s first team. He has a lot of energy so can get up and down the flank, but has the technique to keep the ball and play in tight spaces. The fact he can carry the ball up the pitch, really opens up a lot of options for attack for city. Seemed like an expensive buy last season, but you can see what city wanted to do with him and his attributes. Walker is a good traditional full back but isn’t quite good enough on the ball for what Pep wants, I think that’s the same for Mendy on the other side. Mendy has a excellent delivery on crosses and when he’s fit can get up and down the pitch but his general ball control and distribution in midfield isn’t quite the standard Pep wants/needs hence why zinchenko is played. I really like how the role of full backs over the last decade has really evolved, it’s such a key position nowadays.

For me his positioning reminds me a lot of Delph when he was the left back. Early in the season choose a double pivot to assist in transitions but with Cancelo as an inverted winger come central midfield that problem is sorted. This is back to basics for Pep
@stever86693 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem for City was that we often played a midfield that couldn't get the ball back once the team lost possession. The opposition would meet little resistance until it got to the defense. This wasn't as big a problem with Fernandinho at his peak because he was so mobile, read the game so well and didn't mind fouling an opposition player if he couldn't stop a player legally. Rodri is another matter and too stationary and not as flexible in the turn. A player with plenty of assets, he isn't the right one to make up for the defensive shortcomings that City's attacking play, left. Initially, Pep's response to this was to instill even more that losing possession was a sin. That resulted in sterile passing play that achieved little because anything that might surprise the opposition, also carried some chance of failure and losing that possession. This was compounded by the limited speed of counter play through carrying the ball or releasing/passing skills of Rodrigo when compared to Fernandinho. The safe possession mandate also made things easier for the opposition in that few City players would take on a man. Even Sterling would turn back. The only player who's mindset was 'this is how I play' was Aguero - and he continued to carry the ball and charge at players to get into the box. So unlike most other attacking City players where the need for doubling up by the opposition defense was diminished (because the pattern of play became those players not taking any chances, often just taking the safe pass backwards), the aggression of Aguero has been sorely missed. Which leaves where the team is now. The defenders have picked up the need to play offensively and all of them have the ability to make a great pass. In Gundogen and KDB City have midfielders who can create AND win the ball off the opposition. That means whoever is playing the defensive pivot isn't feeling so overwhelmed. The other wide/forward players have been given greater freedom to take on defenders and when the ball is lost they can still chase back and harry the oppositions wide attack knowing the central core is tough and their job is mostly just to slow down or cut off attacking options of the opposition. This new team make-up is the prime reason for the defense looking so much better. The team is more balanced than it has ever been and whilst a replacement for Aguero is obviously key, so is a new defensive pivot to replace Fernandinho who can also fulfil the Gundogen/KDB roles. I'd also be happy to give Fernandinho another years contract as he still seems spry and doesn't need constant action to keep him sharp. Just my opinion fwiw.

Cancello fits the team's focus of continuous on pitch player rotation. Pep has his players constantly shifting positions and it works to confuse a defense alignment. If a player like Cacello moves forward he may confidently expect that his position on the back left or right will be covered. With Zinchenko on one side and Cacello (or Waker) on the other its easy for City to over load the center from either side. LaPorte played against Burnley and this let City fluidly switch from a 4-3-3 to a 3-4-3. In some games they appear to play a 3-3-4. Cancello is having a terrific season but he's surrounded by outstanding play every match.

Said it like almost 2 seasons ago when Liverpool won the UCL that Trent ain't no special at all . He had assists coz Liverpool had a system of flanks , especially from right side . Now the system has exposed & crosses ain't gettin inside the net , he's done. His contribution except for Crosses is nothing & one can see that . Cancelo on the hand isn't that good at defending but not bad as well + he shares a threat of fullback finisher alongside dribbling , vision & other skills . Players I'd happily take over Trent rn are - Walker ( good at offence & defence ) , Cancelo , Bissaka , Dani Carvajal ( good at defence & offence ) , Sergi Roberto - ik his name may look a bit hard but that's the thing , that Man on offence level is unbeatable if used well . His vision & dribbling for a RB is on another level , it's just that Barca team lacks a system that can provide strength . There are some other names too

Meh, not really to Kimmich. Kimmich is a natural midfielder, he played all his youth in midfield. Guardiola played him there too (before the CBs got injured). He used him as a RB only twice (out of 50 games), Löw was the one who played him there constantly.
@najmussabir60513 жыл бұрын
@@xMythpug I mean using players out of position according to their ability and talents. Pep used Kimmich as a right back because he has excellent curved crossing ability and passing range. And also according to technical quality Pep used Lahm as a Midfielder. Cancelo is actually a Right Winger who played recently as a Right Back and now Pep using him as a Midfielder. Different philosophy can see different attributes into a player. Trent was also a midfielder,Roberto was also a midfielder. I didn't mean it to be exact same thing which you said. I'm talking about using players according to their talents ❤️

@Fresh Sodaa I seriously don't know how you can say facts and statistics are "not true". I said Kimmich is a natural midfielder who played all his youth in midfield. That is a fact and it's true. I said Guardiola used him as a RB twice, that is a statistic and it's true. I said he played Kimmich as a CB only after other CBs got injured. That is a fact and true. I didn't say anything else.

@Fresh Sodaa I don't know what sketchy and faulty site you looked up, but I get my information from the most reliable site - that lists this data - when it comes to german football: "transfermarkt.de". What "seasons" are you talking about? Kimmich came in 2015/16, in Pep's last season, so it was only one single season. And on that site it says he only played two games as a RB, namely against Hannover and Hertha. I am a Bayern fan, I watch every single game since 2009, so don't try to educate me about something you clearly know nothing about. Löw was the one who played Kimmich at RB. At the Euro Cup in 2016 he played all his games as a RB, except one where he was RM. Also I never said that your daddy Guardiola can't do that to players. I only ever said he didn't do it to Kimmich. Kimmich can play RB & CDM on a world class level. Guardiola only used him in midfield continously (his natural position), and later on as a CB (where he never played again after that season btw) because his CBs got injured and his only other option was Serdar Tasci.
