There are so many issues in Canada. Firstly, Canadians are taxed like crazy, what are they doing with all the tax dollars? When people are highly taxed quality of life should improve but it has severely declined. On top of this we have a high cost of living, poor healthcare system, and crime as you mentioned. The highest crimes are committed at the top of the societal hierarchy, who is policing those in power? Sad world.

Vehicle manufacturers have the technology and patent to have owner enter a PIN similar to a cell phone. The reality is, the Vehicle manufacturers make money on replacement of our vehicles. In regards to Lexus the bad guys are often going through the fender.

Cara are stolen in my neighborhood daily and they're going into garages now and breaking in during the day time! The videos in our neighborhood groups showing the breakins are shocking and in every instance they refuse to do anything

Glad I live in an apartment building. Even here in Ottawa we have many car thefts, with the cars going east to that Montreal port. You'd think the provincial (Quebec) or Federal government would put in some measures to check the shipments leaving Montreal. You'd think insurance companies would also be more invested in reducing car thefts too, but then again they will enjoy all the increasing rates for the citizens. Then you have the Toronto police telling people to just give in. I miss the 2000s and early 2010s.

Expanding on this, everything is being targeted. I'm working on a video of my experience with PayPal, or rather the brick wall, trying to get thousands of dollars back after several fraudulent transactions. It took over a month to handle. Then on top of that, I had my $300 heated jacket stolen during my kid's swimming lessons. I saved up a long while to buy that jacket, and I was wearing nothing more than a t-shirt because the pool is hot and humid, and it was -10C outside. Now I'd hate to suggest this, but vigilance is our only real solution. We can only rely on ourselves to defend what is ours.

Wow I had no idea it was as bad in Canada too! I am a car lady and absolutely love my car. I’m so glad I have a garage and live in a smaller community. Even though it still happens it’s not as bad as the cities outside of Seattle. My car insurance went up 65.00 more a month and I’m sure they would use that as a reason. Thanks for great info. Fair points. Almost every major city in North America is experiencing the same phenomenon. Google Los Angeles, Chicago, New York auto thefts by year and most are all at or near all-time highs. The only way auto manufacturers will change is via the insurance industry. They pushed for safety features such as airbags, adas, etc. Auto cos have no incentives to do this since the lineups for purchasing Toyota, Lexus, Jeeps are months to years long. All I hear is blame for Trudeau which is fair. But at least he’s trying. Where are Doug Ford and François Legault?

Of all those groups you mentioned getting kickbacks from car theft do not forget the insurance companies. Nothing helps justify ridiculous insurance rates like thousands of claims.

Against the relay attack, I put my keys in a small metal box(like a candle metal container) lined with aluminum foil. Bottom and top cover. It blocks the signal 100%. If I walk to the car with it, I cannot open the door or start the engine if door is unlocked. Key not detected. Also if you have a Mercedes/Mercedes Key Gob, pressing twice on Lock button, shuts down the keyfob transmitting any signal. Unless you press unlock, the key is dead. The car does not recognize it.

small metal box is good, but you need to do more if you leave your car on a driveway overnight. My car was stolen in 10 min with keys disabled and OBD2 port lock.

Can we booby trap the cars to spray non removable paint to their face? Or remotely disable the engine? I thought OnStar vehicles had this option. What happened to bait cars, did they stop that program?

Thissss....seems to be a higher end car owner problem...majority of us with the 12 + year avg age car this is a non issue...save for the kia and hyundai joyriders...no one is coming after your 10 plus y/o GM SUV or my 19 y/o corolla which is in high demand in Africa however, there is no money in it due to age...but high performance and luxury cars within the last 5 years..you BET your a target

@@carswithsonduren The car thieves and the Africans only want the newest, If you own one of these vehicles 5 years and newer It will make you a SUBSTANTIALLY higher risk of being a target.... The data shows this.... heck your own video even shows this... With the exception of the kias and Hyundai's because they are so easy to steal for a quick joy ride..... Nobody is coming after your 10 plus year old GM SUV.... Or my 19-year-old Corolla , which by the way is a very sought after car in Africa To this day, But there's no Money in it because of its age.... So yes this is a problem for people with flashy luxury cars The rest of us who drive vehicles of the 12 + year avg range have no real Cause for concern when it comes to this theft ring ...this IS NOT the blanket issue you are trying to make it out to be

Sadly right. I have a perfectly good 07 caravan, high miles, and looks like crap, but even then 2 years ago a band of druggies broke into it and stole all my tools. But they wouldn't steal it. Worth nothing, but insurance is still high on it.
