The downside of the other two films though is that McQueens entire love interest dissappears after the first movie, and I think that skipping over 7 Piston Cups in McQueen's life removes all the work he DID put in for the first movie. Also his World Tour upgrade just said adìos and is canonically no longer available? He effectively got to the level of an F1 car with that package!
@sayto_003 жыл бұрын
Facts, Prime McQueen would beat Storm. But the movie says McQueen got old, not having the speed he used to have in his prime during Cars 1 and at his peak during 2. And yea Sally really does take a backseat I agree. Almost makes Cruz and McQueen more intriguing because they actually have things in common, ect and while Cruz and McQueen share moments, Sally's role is being a cheerleader in the beginning and end. Even Mator does more by giving advice to Lightning lol.
@erickmanueldeazeredoborges20593 жыл бұрын
I can definitely agree, but maybe that wasnt the type of vibe that they wanted to fit into the movie, i think that by showcasing more of Cruz and her capabilities, aswell as Mcqueens acceptance over his downfall makes it for a much more dramatic and fantasious, while also being educational. But i do agree that in the second movie they bullshited Sally for some Spionage randomness(also agree that a car can always have new parts and as we saw in the second they gave him power enough to match a F1 but who knows).

I hated cars 3. This movie is not for me at all. The story of cars itself is about Lightning McQueen, a hotshot piston cup racer rising to the top and beyond. The third movie forgets that. If he just wanted Cruz to win then why train with Smokey? Not to mention logic wise this movie makes no sense. Let's say McQueen was 20 in cars 1. This thing was released in 2017, so he aged just by 12 years i.e he's 32. Morgan Shepherd's career ran for 29 years. Not to mention, competition wise Jackson Storm had 850 horsepower while McQueen had only 750. A 100 horsepower difference. And he was much more aerodynamic, while McQueen isn't which is strange to me considering the existence of cars 2. McQueen got modified to some extent in cars 2, and in the games you had control over modifications on McQueen as well. And of course, we have to discuss Cruz Ramirez. She is a trainer for the new racers. This is a very important role in racing. You are nothing without your teacher or trainer in this case. But the fact that people hate cars 2 less than this shitfest is beyond me. Cars 2 was unique, it made a new angle to the story of cars which was very exciting for me because I love cars 2. And in the third movie, the movie and the game (driven to win) doesn't even acknowledge the existence of cars 2. Which is a result of the unnecessary hate projected towards it.

I've gotta be honest: I didn't like Cars 3 at all back then cause I wanted McQueen to rise back to the spotlight. However this video made me look this film through another lens. Not only it's a very good way to show how the character has grown and even taken the same position Doc had on the first movie by becoming a mentor himself (even though it happened by accident) it shows that he not only has a legacy but has people who will make it ever lasting. It actually is beautiful!

It's time for the younger generation to take over, and he realized that he wanted to pass on his glory to someone else just like Doc's mentor and Doc does. Yes, and it doesn't only apply to racing. All sorts of competition, really. That's why it's important to be humble, and that's what the movie does, it humbles you. You have to be able to recognise when it's time to step back, and instead of a student to play the role of a teacher. Or just to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. What I've noticed is, many young people fail to understand the authority they have. Even if you have little experience, there are people out there with even less, people who look up to your accomplishments as something they wish to have. If you're aware of that, you can further inspire them, and be a better role model. Because none of us live in an isolated environment - everything we do has unseen consequences. It's about responsibility, really - act the way you would want your authority to act. As someone pointed out, McQueen was to Ramirez what Doc was to him.

There was a series of books released during the promotional material of Cars 3, in which case a background story about Storm was shown. However, it does not show him having a grudge against him, as in the book he has never heard of McQueen, but he only wanted to race because he was in a simulation competition (explains the simulators used) and won in it and got a huge promotion of a sponsor. I've had a disagreement on this with some of my friends, but I completely feel this movie ended the way it should've. Personally I do think that Cruz should've started the race as well, but they feel as it should've just been McQueen the whole time, but then what's the point of the movie. It would have just been a carbon copy of the first one and kind of pointless in that regard. It would've removed Cruz as a character and overall, it would've been much worse than it was. Cars 2 should really have just been a movie about international F1 style racing, without all the secret agent bs, and maybe even had McQueen lose and realize that Nascar style racing was where he was best suited.
@svis68882 жыл бұрын
But then what's the point of the movie if McQueen doesn't race, like you're completely cutting what made the two last movies, peoples here seems to not realise how illogical it would be to let Cruz win the whole race... So basically McQueen just gives up and Cruz become the main character? McQueen even gave a bet to Sterling, why would he not want to race?
@svis68882 жыл бұрын
Bruh so basically you want McQueen to loose everytime... You peoples just don't understand
@juanmar7in3z402 жыл бұрын
@@svis6888 It's not necessarily about McQueen winning or losing, it's about serving the purpose of storytelling. Take the Movie, "Creed," starring Michael B. Jordan. For the most part, it seems like a rather textbook boxing movie, but in the same Universe as the Rocky Movies that were popular in the late '70s and the early '80s. Creed is adamant about beating the #1 heavyweight boxer, and over the course of the film, you see the crazy training that he goes through to achieve a victory. A lot of time is spent developing the characters in such a way where you might think he will win, because it is a movie, and he has too, right? Even though he loses in the end, it wasn't a complete and total loss. He had just earned the respect of his opponent, and pretty much everybody who thought he was a fraud because of the name he held. He was able to hold his own in a fight for 12 rounds where people thought he would get dropped within 2. In a relatively similar fashion, we see this within the plot of Cars 3. We spend the entire movie watching what looks to be McQueen training for a race but is also a handful of knowledge that Cruz learned from and helped her to become a better racer. Obviously, the whole switching with Cruz midrace is flawed, but it is what it is. Imagine a world where all 3 Cars movies was about McQueen getting beat in a race, trains, and then wins. They honestly would have been better off leaving it at the OG Cars rather than wasting their time with the second two. McQueen spends the entire movie training in ways that Hudson taught him, with Cruz by his side, unintentionally teaching her to become who he once was. I'm sorry but if this would've just been cookie cutter storytelling about McQueen winning at the end, it would have been pointless to have Cruz, or even that company involved in the first place, as he didn't end up using their tactics to get any better, he went on his own path. McQueen was out of his prime, and we already know that he won 7 piston cups. That was stuff that didn't need much, if any screen time to really develop the story. It was something we knew was gonna happen since the end of the first movie, they just never "showed" it to us, but telling a great story shouldn't require them to do so.

@@juanmar7in3z40 he didn't retire so I'm ok with the ending
@just_a_morningstar2 жыл бұрын
@@juanmar7in3z40 I don't think it would have been cookie cutter story telling to have McQueen win the race. Mainly because he's never won an on-screen race with as high stakes as the Florida 500. To my knowledge, the only races we've seen McQueen win was the second round of the World Grand Prix and a handful of unnamed Piston Cup races in the opening of Cars 3. Pretty much every time McQueen has had the chance to win a penultimate race, he's backed down from the victory because there's more to life than racing, and there's more to racing than winning. But the thing is that no matter what, McQueen still loves racing. He's a race car, this is what he was built for and he loves the sport so much. To have Cars 3 end with him winning might be a bit of a cliche in terms of the film industry at large, but it wouldn't be the same as the other two Cars films if they were left as is. And also it would just be nice to have that triumphant victory that we were denied in the previous films. Like, honestly, it's kind of been done to death within this franchise that there's often times something more important to McQueen than winning the race he's in. Just once, in my kids film about sentient cars, I wanted to McQueen cross the finish line in first in a race that actually mattered to him. I think that's why, as a kid, I enjoyed Planes when that came out. Because I finally got to see the protagonist win, I just got to turn my brain off and watch Dusty rise to the challenge and triumph. Don't get me wrong, I still think that Cruz should have had her chance to shine, and I don't think I'd change the overall ending of McQueen becoming Cruz's trainer, but I'd rework how they got to that ending if I was in charge. Instead of drafting, Smokey actually implies that it might finally be time for McQueen to upgrade. Nothing too exotic, just a more powerful engine or perhaps some of the inbuilt software like Hamilton. McQueen is initially against this, because then he feels like he'd be taking a step closer towards becoming another Next Generation Racer, the same folks who have ran many of his close friends off the race track and into retirement forever. Eventually, McQueen decides he doesn't have a choice and gets fitted with an engine that is much closer to Jackson Storm's in terms of power. Things go back to how they did in Cars 3 until the final race. McQueen doesn't pit for a regular check-up, he pits because this new engine isn't entirely compatible with his inner workings or mechanics or whatever (I'm not petrol head so I don't fully understand how cars work, but I imagine that Jackson Storm's engine in McQueen's vehicle wouldn't be a seamless fit) McQueen thinks he might be out of the race after the engine malfunctions, but he gets Cruz to drive in his stead for a portion of the race while his pit crew works on repairing him. Smokey attempts to coach Cruz through the radio, but has no luck, so they put the headset on McQueen and he gives her the same advise in ways she would understand while he's being repaired. McQueen is fixed up, but he sees just how far up the positions she's risen and gives her a few more laps to see what she's capable of. Cruz grows tired, maybe 20 laps from the finish, and stops moving up the pack. Finally, McQueen calls her back into the pit, tells her just how proud she is, and then races back onto the track with new life in his engine again. He wins the race, beats storm, maybe even uses some of Cruz's earliest advice to him from back at the Rusteze racing centre. McQueen wins, and then the rest of the ending plays out as normal.

Ok this might be childish but I really wanted to see McQueen beat Storm, especially after all that trash talk coming from him. Even after the crash McQueen is still an above average racer and instead of letting him work off of what he still had, Ramirez and the new owner of Rusteez underestimated his mentality and talent, calling him old and belittling him throughout the movie. Ramirez then had the audacity to be butthurt when McQueen lashed out at her. It was nice to see McQueen grow into more of a mentor but it would have been much more fulfilling to see him have one last hurrah.

It's not childish. It's what it'd be. Him winning the race, becoming a chief, and then have cruz as his racer. NOT RUINING THE WHOLE MOVIE BY NOT ENDING HIS LAST RACE

I think what makes it the perfect ending is the fact that McQueen already accepted that he is getting far behind. As with every veteran sports athlete who is in their late 30s right now. McQueen accepted the fact he couldn't catch up unlike in the previous 2 movies where he just kept on going until the last lap. He decides to pass it on Cruz Ramirez.
@svis68882 жыл бұрын
Hum what? No... He was catching up on the last race, just that he gave his chance to Cruz because there was no time less

"Why Cars 3 was the PERFECT ending to the trilogy" Yeah, that's what everyone said about Toy Story 3, but then Disney decided to make the bad(decent at best) Toy Story 4 ... I'm not going to be surprised if they pull a Cars 4 out of nowhere for money.
@codymifsud24483 жыл бұрын
They do have content with Cruz, and McQueen, so they could make a new series called “The Next Gen: Cruz Ramirez” or “Cars the Next Gen” Forms a new lead while not doing too much of a Money-grab for more of cars with a McQueen movie lead. Also it is pretty realistic to what is happening in NASCAR and also most Motorsports in the new decade.

The second one kind of felt like a one-off cuz they didn't really know what to do after the actor who played Doc Hudson died I feel like number two probably should have had a race in LA and develop Sally & McQueen's relationship of it more seeing how Sally came from LA it could have led to some interesting storylines
