My kitty started hunting (and I used to say he really enjoyed his work). When my kitty was on duty, the neighborhood was safe from rat infestations (and we actually did have that problem). I thought that this was how he wanted to get some exercise in. Now, I am thinking it was part of it. However, he was following his instincts I've had my cat on his back. He actually stayed in that position while I got his comb. He really seemed to respond like saying being combed was an excellent response.. So that explains why my kitty liked sleeping at the bend in my knees. When he would arrive, I would give him a pet to tell him that he was welcome and then go to sleep myself. He passed away (from old age) a few years ago. However, he was a rescue kitten from being tangled in weeds. So, according to this video Kitty thought he made it big in finding a home with a family he really loved (I loved him too).

I have two cats and live on a boat but several feral cats come in through the catflap to eat and sleep. All of them now "speak" to me to let me know when they want to eat. None of them ever does their "business" inside the boat and I am happy with their visits. My elder cat is a male who is nearly 2 years old and disappears for days on end. Yet he will still jump on my bed in the morning, wrap his front legs around my neck and cuddle into me. People say that cats are independent but they are not. If you have a cat, it is the master and you are there to do its bidding. They have wormed their way into our lives by way of their big eyes and their meouws and we just love them for it. Once you have had a cat, you are infected for life.

@kentneumann52095 жыл бұрын
Cats allowed to roam outside of a controlled environment are filthy parasite carriers, both internal and external. When you say "wormed their way into our lives" and infected us with them... That is a fact jack. They are filthy disease bags from which you can catch a whole host of different types of infections.. from bacterial to viral and everything in between. They have something in their feces that pheromonally attracts rats and affects them by making them indifferent or not afraid of them and researchers suspect the same thing affects humans the same way. Idk if that's a solid proven fact with humans or just a theory, but it is a fact with the rats. Also I hate cats. Their shit is one of the worst smells ever and they spray their scent and piss everywhere even if you fix them. And for the other reasons listed above. That said... I am currently caring for 3 cats that are not mine, but that I have raised over the last 15 months. The first one they brought as a stray kitten with a leg injury. It likes to jump out and surprise you with a fake attack that's acrobatic and comical. Thus named Kato, after the servant guy in the pink panther movies. She (we thought a he when named) likes to sit I your lap facing you and put her paws around your neck like a hug. She is sweet and gentle and playful and has a whisper meaow that's more like a meh sound. The other two are really cool cats too. I gotta go now. But I still hate cats. Except these 3.

Their belly is the spot they are the most protective of, so they'd really rather have you touch anywhere else. They aren't inviting you for a belly rub(exceptions for any rule, of course), just showing trust as mentioned in the video. Rub their head(or behind the ears) instead, if you want to cuddle them. Youc an also combine it with: 1. Getting in petting position slowly 2. Performing a slow head turn, combined with a slow(exeggerate it) blink 3. Move your hand slowly to their head(ideally not in a trajectory over their belly) This should prevent most things they may be cautious of from triggering, and should help them feel at ease before the hand is even in attack range. If they still attack you, then yes it's a venus fly trap :(

A lot of people say "dogs have owners, and cats have slaves" or whatever, and I find that really annoying, because it's not true. Cats view humans as equals, your cat thinks of you as her friend, in most situations they behave the same ways towards humans as they do other cats. Studies of feral colonies have also shown that their social structure is quite similar to our own, they have small groups of cats that they like to spend time and share food with, and then there are cats that they don't like very much, or just don't interact with much. They'll also help each other raise kittens!

Three year olds are self-absorbed, can be petty, and are usually leery around strangers until they start warming up to them. They also have the attention span cycle: 1. I'm independent so I'm going away to play by myself, I don't need you. 2. Suddenly realize they're alone, calls and runs for mom in a mild panic. 3. Finds mom, gives hugs and relieved at not being left alone. 4. Goes back to #1.

Just don't go believing that stuff about purrs healing bone, there is no evidence to suggest this and any reputable vet will tell you it's a myth.
@THEwolfKiana5 жыл бұрын
@@phucanhell No one said it heals bones. Scientists have just made a hypothesis that it might help with healing. Being calm helps a lot vs being stressed while sick. No vet I've been to has said it's a staight up myth. It's common knowledge that cats often purr while hurt, sick, or when they are ready to die. We don't know why, but it's a pretty good assumption that it might be to help them stay calm, which helps with recovering faster. Stess while sick makes it worse. For any animal.

I've had my one cat for over six years now, every night she lays on my chest and purrs as we both go to sleep, she still kneads my shirt (especially when I get home from a very long shift at work) and refuses to let me put her down. I honestly enjoy the company of my sweet fuzzy baby.

That last point is sad, but also comforting. My last cat was not at all a lap cat and preferred to sleep alone, but he did let us pet him a little, and he especially loved it when I rubbed my face against his. My last visit to my family's house was the last time I saw him, and he spent the last night I was there lying next to me in my bed, purring until I fell asleep. (He had seen me packing the day before, so probably knew I was leaving soon.) When I woke up the next morning he was gone. A few months later he passed away from his kidney sickness, and years later I still miss him a lot, but I also feel incredibly comforted by the fact that he went out of his way to say goodbye.

We introduced one of our cats that had way too much energy during winter to a 'tunnel with a ball' toy. We kept trying to show her how she can push the ball through the tunnel and how to make use of strategically placed holes. So there were we, my mother and I, on the floor and pushing the ball while she kept looking at us. At one moment we stopped, looked at each other in realization and my mom said "She likes watching us play.". And that was exactly it, she had no interest in the toy but apparently thought we were just adorable constantly playing with it like that. Humbling.
@cleliac.24705 жыл бұрын
That is so hilarious... :-))) With my cat Michel it was the other way around meaning that it was he who presented me with toys. He would come in through the open window with a piece of bark or a dove feather or even a pebble in his mouth, drop it at my feet, gently knock with his paw on my leg to get my attention and then throw the "toy" around on the floor to show me how much fun one could have with it and to incite me to join in the play. When he was in a calmer mood, he would sit in my lap and "help" me turn the pages of my textbooks… He was special in so many ways and I shall never forget him.

I could add a lot more stories about cats, but I just add this one. A number of years ago, on a Sunday, I was up before my family. It was quiet and I was in a fairly dark room sitting crossed legged, reading the Sunday NY Times on my lap. I heard a purr, but didn't see our cat Sandy. He walked up to me, and pretty soon, I was sitting crossed legged with the NY Times on my lap and a cat on top of the NY Times.

I've know my female tuxedo cat is left pawed since she was a baby kitten. I also could've told you that cats are more intelligent than dogs. Anyone who measures intelligence by obedience has no clue. It's BECAUSE cats are so intelligent they DON'T obey our every command. In fact cats NEVER obey people. They OBLIGE wishes IF they feel like it. They will comply with rules as long as you comply with THEIR rules. Have 0 college degrees in psychology or animal behavior. Their has just never been a time in the last 50 of my 56 years that I wasn't a cat owner or rather, that I wasn't owned by a cat.

For about five months or so, I’ve been caring for a feral cat that lives outside of my shop’s garage, and I’ve noticed that he often rolls over on his back whenever I go sit with him. Plus, he’s a very vocal cat, so I talk to him all the time. My family keeps telling me that he’s beginning to like me, and I had always kind of had a hint of doubt about that, because I would think “why would a feral cat take so much of a liking to me? I’m most definitely not the only one who feeds him, and there are many other signs that just tip it off,” but learning a few things from this video helped me confirm with myself that maybe he really does like me that much. Thank you for this video.

If you see a tiger/lion pet they play with you just like a house cat, but in the end a housecat can hurt you if they feel like it for what ever reason. So as cool as it would be to have a pet tiger.... i think you have to be very lucky to not one day get hurt badly just because your "pet" had enoth hugs in that moment.

He always keeps his claws retracted when interacting with us, and while he does bite, it’s so gentle it’s adorable. If he is hungry and I haven’t yet woken up, he will jump on the bed and take little nips at me, but they are just enough to wake me up and make me laugh.
