I know you don’t want to recommend specific products, but at the same time you say not all products get down to the layers of the skin they need to, e.g. you talk about how unstable many brands of Vit C are. Most of your viewers prob can’t afford to spend $500/month on skincare. It would be super helpful if you could do more videos discussing specific products. Eg, best vit C in all price points. Also, which products we must splurge on and where we can save. Thanks! Wish there was someone like you where I live.
@faithisallyouneed5 жыл бұрын
I think that's part of the problem though, cheaper brands often haven't demonstrated the same level of stability or efficacy. My personal experience has been that some of the cheaper brands had no results whatsoever but the medical grade made a difference within days. Skincare shouldn't make anyone uncomfortable from a budget stand point, and it's easy enough to start with gentle cleanser, appropriate moisturizer, SPF, and differin which you can get over the counter for about $12.
@SunxSurfxSand5 жыл бұрын
I’m going to guess most of the viewers of this channel are well beyond the basics. We want the whole regimen she discusses, but can’t afford medical grade alone.

I agree. It is so frustrating when you don’t mention products. There are so many products out there that it can be overwhelming and we don’t want to waist hard earned money. Love your videos.

User Name Here I get that, but I don’t understand how anyone could expect her to recommend products she doesn’t actually use. Isn’t that part of what people are upset with influencer culture over, that they recommend and promote brands they themselves do t use? There are other channels that feature budget friendly brands, and some of them probably have some gem products but it does take actually using them to figure out which ones.
@faithisallyouneed5 жыл бұрын
-Nellie -m I had a better result with prescription retin A too, but for those wanting cheaper recommendations that probably won’t work. In the US you need a prescription but the medication is usually not covered by insurance and isn’t very cheap unfortunately.

I'm 52 and I have always done an exfoliation everyday. Sometimes its chemical, sometimes its physical, and sometimes I give my skin a rest. But, for the most part... Its a part of my daily routine😊 I do believe that is a big reason (besides genetics🤷🏼) my skin looks so good!! My skincare is one of my big things... I love makeup... But, makeup won't look good no matter how expensive it is, if my skin doesn't look good I feel😁 I love watching your videos... They're always so informative!! Question, I've been wanting to try botox, but, my mother did it once and had an allergic reaction to it... Is that something that is genetic?? Can you do a "test" first to see if there will be a reaction? Just curious😊❤

💜💋 So good..... as usual!!!! I always listen to your videos 2 or 3 times to make sure I didn’t miss anything!!! Have you ever thought about doing a video or Insta Story to give us pointers for finding a good Dermatologist. What should we look for, association members, etc? The reason I ask is because years ago I went to a Derm after having my daughter because I had bumps all over my body (pretty sure it was KP) and he told me I was “just going to have to deal with it”!🤬 Not at all what a postpartum girl wants to hear! I’m guessing the majority of your followers don’t live in So Cal where there are probably way more great Derms than most other cities. Thanks so much for all you do you really are so inspiring! 🤗 Happy Holidays sweet lady!!! 🎅🏼🎄

I always have that fear that regular usage of retinoids would exhaust the collagen stem cells
@DrStefaniKappel5 жыл бұрын
No my beauty. That’s like saying lifting weights will exhaust and deplete your muscles. Retinoids stimulate your skin cells to become active and work hard. Like they do when you’re younger. Skin cells get sleepy and lazy as we get older so they need to be taken care of, nourished and stimulated to remain active. Stem cells are they keratinocytes and collagen comes from fibroblast cells. Different cell lineages but all respond well to retinoids. 😘
@awestin1005 жыл бұрын
Youngr by Stefani Kappel MD Like working out, do you need to give your skin “rest days” from all the stimulation? Does building collagen only occur during active stimulation, or on rest days (like muscles)? Thanks for sharing all of this great information!!

Those fears are usually created by various websites that use quasi-scientific language (Hayflick limit, cell senescence etc.) to confuse/scare the consumers and then, unsurprisingly, sell you some magic supplements (L-carnosine etc.). Cosmetics and supplements are unregulated multi-billion dollar industries, so everyone wants a piece of that cake...

I love chemical peels! I used to do a couple every winter ( TCA), then it seemed like I was immune, or my skin got used to it. I didn't peel as well as I did before, and my skin didn't look much different. After a couple of years , I tried it again and had great results. Is it possible for skin to become used to, or unaffected by a certain peel, over time?

@Tanja3335 жыл бұрын
V M good question
@MyMaria12245 жыл бұрын
V M yes most definitely!!I had melasma years ago. Doing peels and along with some of the lasers the Doctor recommended helped !
@DrStefaniKappel5 жыл бұрын
V M that’s an excellent question. Ok. So. Yes, I’ve cleared the most recalcitrant melasma in patients who had severe melasma but the catch is that it can make it worse if the skin is pre and post treated correctly. So the answer is it can be made worse if not done properly. On the flip side when done correctly it can clear melasma with beautiful results. If done by a dermatologist you will never go wrong. If you go to someone who is lesser trained, that’s when the bad outcomes happen. I’ve cleared even the most stubborn melasma with peels but as a provider I’m neurotic and always get amazing results. I also get referrals from Meri spas where peels were not done correctly by less experienced people and the run to me to “fix it” which is why I’m so adamant about not trusting your skin to just anyone.

When I first started with vitamin C I had a purge and it enlarged my pores and it took a couple of weeks for the pores to clear out, but then they can shrink to even smaller than they were before overtime. If your skin is normal to oily you could try a salicylic acid face wash and that will help cleanse the pores and speed up the process, just be careful it could be drying
