The way Chicago is, I think armed guards aren't the worst idea....also, freshwater just doesn't compete with the sea.

It sure looks like it.... no jellyfish or whales though... sadly that ocean smell is not there... still clean beaches cleaned by machine daily thru summer and no clumps of seaweed or red tide ect. So far Lake Michigan is not prone to algae blooms like Lake Erie which is more shallow. Clean and green downtown and most of the city as that works there flowers thru downtown also that always impresses tourist going away not realizing it has America's top downtowns with NYC just larger. You might want to check out all the Spring Break crowd turmoil some Florida coastal areas get and beaches sometimes closed and episodes of red tide on the gulf coast blooms sadly. Still Florida's white sand is second to none.

Did you know Chicago gets over 55-million visitor/tourist a year. Most hit downtown and north shore and at least see some of the lakefront. Summer it is definitely a visit or boat ride. Grant you Chicago is not a mecca for traveling to it for its beach scene. Chicago is merely lucky to have 28 miles of city-proper lakefront of most of it as PUBLIC Parks, and Beaches with Harbors and biking and jogging paths thru most of it also. Chicago's downtown sits right on the Lake with Oak St. Ohio St beach (by Navy Pier) and a crescent beach next to the downtown Museum campus and Planetarium and by Soldier Field all 3 open to the public. Its largest beach is just north of downtown being North Ave beach and Montrose is further north. When political ideology by 24/7 one sided bias media promotes it is all just an h*ell h*ole ... one learns to hate as if not still part of real America... sorry but it is and a legacy that created 19th thru the 20th century and downtown skyline tops in the Nation that is clean and green and blue along Lake Michigan's clear waters alive with fish including seasonal salmon and a yachting culture also. Never too late to reply to a post that wants to still degrade America that they get taught should be dead to them.
