I find it hilarious to note that the US blocked Djibouti from inviting Russia to set up a base in their country in 2014... only for Djibouti to turn around and give China a base three years later instead. US sources called the move a "blindside" by Djibouti. I personally call it top tier trolling🤣

I mean I fucking hate America too but I don't think we should ignore what China is doing, neoliberalism is bad under literally any flag. Doesn't help that China is a lot more predatory with its measure either e.g. when they built a port in sri-lanka and charged them way too much and then when Sri Lanka couldn't pay them back they just were like 'ok it's ours now' and they filled it with Chinese workers. Like they literally took one of the best chances for Sri Lanka to eventually fully develop itself away from them.
@ioioire4684
@ioioire4684 4 жыл бұрын
Oh also, whilst US neoliberalism is usually run by businesses separate from and typically trying to circumvent the rules of the government, all big companies in china (the ones which are able to globally expand) are directly managed by the Chinese government so its expansionism represents far greater power than anything else. Cause like two Chinese companies working abroad will help each other because they're literally run by the same thing, American companies would try to outcompete the other.

Can I just say that in the game of life, China is a pay-to-win behemoth of a top ranking player, and America, who stood proudly as number 1 for so long, is now being outclassed in every way. America has been so focused on dominating by sheer power, they completely forgot the simple but effective tactic of debt building. Countries owe China because it brings about a positive, and forward-thinking element to its economy, while on the other hand, everyone just be wary of the American military might to revolt against their rule. America is the stick, while China is waving around a butt-load of carrots. Even if everyone can see the extremely clear motives for China's actions, it is still better than being bombed to kingdom come by the Americans.

Putin is not interested in Djibouti, and that tells you how long this shuffling will last, except for China, which is there for the long haul. China's biggest project, the Djibouti-Dakar railway across Africa (6,000 kms.) has yet to materialize, which it will. Putin is investing in a series of bases, ports and nuclear ice-breakers to reroute Asian shipping to Europe by way of the Northern sea route, which is within Russia's exclusive economic zone, some 6000 miles of coastline on the Arctic. It cuts down shipping by way of the Red Sea by almost 40 days. Do the math. Trump can have Djibouti. But he is not going to have Greenland.

@argonauts56au1kera6 4 жыл бұрын
This could be a big opportunity for Djibouti in making revenue through foreign investments which is caused by the heavy foreign investments from militaries around the world. But this is also risky for Djibouti as it makes heir economy be heavily reliant on other countries & if a war breaks out with the countries that have bases in Djibouti, that might cause heavy tensions with the region. Not only that, having heavy foreign control over important & strategic parts of the country can make Djibouti have struggles in independent sovereignty from foreign forces.

@@johnwhitfield8150 Of course China isn't all in the right here. Its business first. No one charged them trillions of dollars. Thats a outrageous claim. No one pointed a gun to their head and force them to sign the papers. There are also benefits when people sign on with China such as building roads, hospitals, schools, electricity grids, and industries and often times, it is for free or incredibly cheap. Why does China do this? Because its soft power. They know that if something comes up in the country such as the discovery of natural resources, the country would be more welcoming to the Chinese. In my opinion, this is a far far far better solution than to bomb or intimidate or overthrow the governments. China doesn't combine business with its military like what the US does.
